Does all skoda dealers use erwin for service history?
@Caj109 Speaking with sales or service desk staff is the issue. Ask to talk to the master tech, a technician, a fitter or even the cleaner.. Maybe even the Workshop Manger. But that is hit or miss.

Karoq cam belt change - start saving now !
VW Group became the biggest car manufacturer in the world until late 2015 when the Defeat Device scandal ment that went back to Toyota. (Just before Suzuki bought back the last share from VW group with money lent by Toyota. Suzuki did not suffer, their Mild Hybrid cars are on sale now, their 3 cylinder engines are good, the shared work they did with Fiat & Mitsubishi was what gets many manufacturers where they are now ahead of VW Tech.) http://bbc.co.uk/news/business-34103944 Shares bought after hour of the trading day. Very soon after sh!t hits the fan, for VW Group. http://bbc.co.uk/news/business-34275917 Just coincidence. Suzuki no longer part owned by VW Group. http://bbc.co.uk/news/business-34322961 Cheating, not us! Well they all were, some just more blatant, and caught. http://bbc.co.uk/news/business-36319144 So Ford engines have failed, Toyota, Mazda, Kia, Hyundai, Vauxhall, Renault / Mercedes Banz, BMW and all the others. The difference is the years of denial from who were the biggest manufacturer in the world. If the great engines were recognised and evolved to even better that makes sense. But euro pinching and spending more on advertising and lawyers than in R&D can be the issue. Then passing on faults from model to model. and not dealing with snagging faults.

It is decades ago, or not really, lets not forget the Euro 4 TSI / TFSI Timing chain issues that continued into Euro 5. 1.2. 1.4. 1.8 & 2.0 TSI's There were Tensioner / kit upgrades eventually and things were much better as it got to VW discontinuing the engines with Timing Chains. They had to admit after many years the fundamental design, manufacturing and material failings. Millions of good engines out there, sadly lots and lots of owners got the lemons, and that was the same cars knocking around the trade / market still now. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/266114-18tsi-and-20tsi-engine-failures http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/344005-12tsi-cam-chain-problem

Vauxhall Corsa electric 2020 Fault (maybe faults) in first 6 weeks & various over the next 3 years.
Car booked in next Friday morning first thing for an Inspection. Obviously they need to confirm that the Drop Links are shagged even though a tech said they were 3 weeks ago when he checked the car and i can confirm they are totally gubbed. It is like the car has no suspension. It is rock hard, it rumbles and knocks and sounds like the motor is going to drop out the front and the battery out of the rear. So no courtesy car arranged, just an inspection. I know what is coming when i take it in for an hour to get it looked at. Once up on the ramp and looked at properly it should be staying with them. It bl00dy well will be. So this is a Motability car. It needs approval to get a repair. Motability will say it is a warranty job, Vauxhall will disagree. Not my problem. So i will be getting a Taxi home, or a lift from the Dealers transport, or a Courtesy car which would be a Corsa Electric which has not been booked so likely not available. This is the issue. Vauxhall/ Stellantis cars, Scotland biggest Dealership Group, Electric car, Motability. ........................ The new discs fitted back in September are as one might expect on salted roads and not used that much as the regen does the slowing down. The e-brake sticks at every release / moving off, and the brakes do grind. That will be the grit / salt causing the grooves. EV's with Drums on the rear is Simply Clever...

1st time - Battery low, warning
How old is the car / battery? Driving further and putting back in a charge because there is high demand with lights, heated rear screen mirrors etc on is good. But over time batteries do get to the stage where they will eventually need replaced. That should not be the case here.

3 Month Old Tyre Bulging
Low profile tyres, bad roads. Real world damage. If the dealers that sell Pirelli tyres or others are not interested in helping then you are stuffed. You will have hit a pothole or iron works on the road. Not really a manufacturing fault. I did get a pair of very new Maxxis AP11 replaced with a bulge, but then they had cracking as well. It was the seller credited me. That was MyTyre, not Maxxis. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/382657-maxxis-ap2-all-season-tyres My Michelin Alpin 6 bulged this winter, that was me again driving and hitting potholes. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/488370-michelin-alpin-6-winter-tyres

Cost of cambelt change

2014 Skoda citigo gearbox or clutch issues?
Are you in the UK? The dealership has to sell vehicles of merchantable quality. If the clutch needs replacement then that is what it needs. If you bought an old car from me then i want to be told right away there is an issue with a clutch or gearbox not over a week later. But then if you bought from me it would be an automatic and if he gearbox was faulty it would be sold as such.

Karoq cam belt change - start saving now !
Yes similar to a 1.4 TSI ACT / 1.4 TFSI COD. Not the same though with just a greater cubic capacity. Just link up that Skoda Technical Manuals. All belts are lifetime. They last until they fail at end of life. Tensioners and bearings are not lift time. According to a member here you give the Dealership Staff the VIN and then they know what is required when and can tell you the price they charge.

VRS 245 "whine" at about 60mph
@FunsterHave you looked at the service history yet to see what shows as done? What tyres are on the car and is it 4 matching or matching pairs front and rear? Are they all good? This is an issue you do not want, so why the correct servicing is important. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/501456-front-differential-to-gearbox-oil-leak

@kodiaqsportline. Calm yourself. You just carry on as you are. I will as I wish to. What I am qualified in is how long I worked in the car trade. Served my time as a mechanic and a car sprayer, and buying and selling cars and doing repairs and warranty work. Sometime tell us your trade or profession.

Yeti Repair - is it worth it?
Welcome. What ever it cost to repair is surely less than the cost of buying another car.

Oil leak
Welcome. I will flag this so a mod can move it to the Mk3 Octavia Section. So give us a few clues. ? Diesel or Petrol, Manual or DSG. How many miles? Any servicing done recently, or inspections or issues other than spotting oil? It could be from the engine or the gearbox. But anything is a guess.

Karoq cam belt change - start saving now !
A £350 or more difference on a 6-7 hour job is a lot of money, for some even a weeks earning splashed out. Based on the £1,100 quotes from Main Dealers and £750 ones. £1,300 is just really getting silly. But like most things, if you do not want the job quote high, and some might actually want the work done. There are likeky to be people with a 5 year old keeper that decide time to change the car rather than Timing belt, brake fluid change, maybe a DSG service or haldex and other stuff, Oil & Inspection Service and Extended Scope and another MOT. Buyers of a 5 year old or older 1.5 TSI ACT will need to be aware of the Servicing and Maintenance recommendations. ( Quoting a high price on a job you do not really want is like Asking Prices for cars when a trader actually wants to keep the car a while but it is part of the business.s inventory.) No free lunches in this life. That is the difference of one trained technician against another with the gear and more than ideas spending a good part of a day doing a job, parts, consumables & vat. Maybe the 2 year parts and labour warranty and a courtesy car and a nice waiting room is worth that extra money. Many will be paying that. Hopefully that is a fully trained and qualified person working on the car. Dealerships are going to be having longer waiting lists for slots in the workshop where a tech might be doing just 1 Timing Belt job and 4 services in a working day.

Do I have to change my differential?
Sorry, Neither did i as they are mixed in Haldex Servicing and failure threads, and then there are Mk2 Octavia diff failure threads.

Karoq cam belt change - start saving now !
@kodiaqsportline So you read one story where a garage screwed up. There are more stories where others have screwed up with 1.0TSI timing belt changed. Maybe if you could be bothered you can ask the Dealership you visit next how much they are charging for a 2018 on 1.5 TSI ACT timing belt replacement. Or ask that VW / Audi specialist their price. So we can do a comparison. It is not Servicing we are talking about here.

2014 Skoda citigo gearbox or clutch issues?
Welcome. ? How recent, time and miles, and bought from who, private or trader? Was it not present when road testing the car only once you paid for it? The time to say or do something was right away. A 9 year old car with average miles over that time might well need a new clutch or attention to the gearbox. Maybe normal wear and tear from who ever and however many have driven the cars since new.
-
How many people do that catch with this?
They catch many. 15% was a good one. Often they are claiming 80% worn when not even 20%. The Service Desk staff have no idea what the 100% measurement would be. Interestingly there are usually Skoda Approved Used Sales Cars outside with more wear and and pitting that are service and PDI'd ready for the next owner.

New Petrol and Diesel cars banned from 2040
Certainly worth thinking about if living in Wyoming and with an Electric car. There are also crazies in government in the UK as well though that somehow think that they seriously will be able to go ahead with what they propose to happen in the UK in 7 years.

VRS 245 "whine" at about 60mph
OK. So the DSG is not due Oil change to 80,000 miles. (Consider that maybe at 40,000 miles or sooner than 80,000, but the Schedule is 80,000.) Re the VAQ. See what Arnold's gave as the Servicing, Oil & Inspection and Extended Scope. Maybe Brake Fluid, Pollen Filters, maybe a look at the Air Filter etc. ASK A SKODA DEALERSHIP OR CUSTOMER SERVICES FOR THE FULL SERVICE AND WARRANTY RECORD ON THE SYSTEM IF AC HAS JUST THE BASIC INFO. That is if the car came from an Arnold Clark Dealer that is a non Skoda Dealership. (Nothing stops them getting on the system and have everything on it available for you.) But you need to know the Diff was done. If not it needs done. @ 3 years / 30,000 miles. Even sooner.
-
VRS 245 "whine" at about 60mph
Welcome. How many miles has it done. What does the Full Service History show as been done. Maybe not this, but. So my guess. The VAQ Diff will not have been serviced at 3 years / 30,000 miles. So that is outstanding and needs done, so that the car is Serviced to the Manufacturers Recommendations, Guidelines or even Schedule. Not part of a Service Plan, probably not in the 2 Services that Arnold Clark gave you in the deal. Needs doing or the Warranty they gave might mean they are paying out if the VAQ fails. PS. Now on Mk4 vRS TSI's some Dealerships are saying due at 2 years. But ARNOLD CLARK staff might not know about that anymore than about @ 3 years / 30,000 miles. So a FULL MAIN DEALER SERVICE HISTORY, just not a history as serviced to the Manufacturers Recommendations, Guidelines or even Schedule. From the Mk4 section. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/509911-vrs-owners-cars-with-vaq-front-diff-a-question-on-servicing-and-what-you-are-being-told-at-skoda-main-dealerships

What have you done to your Karoq today?
Different hardness / limescale of water around the country / countries. The water out of taps where i live is the same as gets bottled and sold at a great premium by Scotland biggest drinks company.
