Engine type not shown in user manual...
The Euro 6 1.2 TSI engine can be on variable / flexible servicing and oil & filter change at 24 months , 18,000-20,000 mile intervals, or on Fixed when VW 504 00 / 507 00 is used. That is 5w 30 FS III (long life oil.) If on Fixed so 9,400 / 12 months then it can be VW 502 00, so 5w 40 FS, not Long Life oil.

Whistling noise when accelerating and in gear
Welcome to the forum. I will flag your post so a mod can move it to the Octavia section. ? What engine does your car have?

Service Interval
Skoda's guidance refers to Fixed / Annual Serving. DQ200 DSG's have no service intervals / recommended oil changes.

Porsche Boxster 2025
http://www.worknest.com/blog/electric-vehicles-a-silent-danger-for-employers I am sure they will run articles in the media. Ones very negative unless their publishing group owners are invested in EV's, manufacturing, promoting, subscription / leasing etc. http://shponline.co.uk/road-safety/increased-risk-to-public-as-near-silent-electric-vehicles-become-more-common-driver-training-firm-says Newspaper & Magazine and parcel / mail deliveries will be mostly by EV in built up areas in the very near future. But as it is there have been EV's on the roads for over a decade. Many Taxis in the likes of Dundee if anyone wants Research Grants to do the figures on Accidents. These were cars pre EU Legislation for Type Approval and making a noise for pedestrains. Cyclists are something you really need to be aware of not hearing you, but then many can not hear a diesel waiting to get passed them, and mirrors are not mandatory. Or being able to look behind without wobbling all over the road.

Porsche Boxster 2025
My electric car built 2020! Makes no noise at low speed and I know that and drive accordingly, especially in car parks. At 40 mph an EV makes a noise from the tyres. Blind or partially sighted will hear them or should. Those on a phone or with headphones seem to not even hear hgv,s busses or trams let alone cars. I live in a town with the Guide Dog training centre. I notice that the dogs appear to not hear EV,s or my one as driving slow at a crossing or junction. I see that the trainers often do not hear my come along the road or look my way or at the dog. Cars with engines off due to stop / start also seem to catch out dogs in training. ICE cars coasting to a halt as as silent as ev,s. No noise emitted from them as a warning as the roll on to a stop.

Suggestions on where to purchase a spare car key
@Phil82 Did the car advert not say '2 keys'? Who is this Dealership or Dealership group? They deserve all the publicity they can get. Let others know what they might expect. As to Customer Service. Or lack of.

Larger tyres on Octavia MK3?
@mm166 Welcome. Whatever wheel size you fit just fit tyres of the correct Circumference / total diameter for the car. No problems with ABS / ESC or any other function or your insurance etc. Just tyres on a car of the correct speed / load rating.

Porsche Boxster 2025
No need for any fake engine noises as you will have enough noise from the tyres as you truck about at 70 mph if even that. Not that many Porsche drivers seem to get up to the max NSL's, but they will pass whoever is in front then hold them up. Then many EV drivers are sitting below the NSL as they try to get about where they want to go without public charging & Porsche EV drivers are no different.

TDI DSG hesitates/misfire when cold
Simple stuff first. ? How many miles covered? When was it last serviced, when was the air filter checked or changed, when was the Fuel Filter replaced?

30 MPG on 2.0 TDI. What could be wrong? (Long)
1.4 TSI Twincharger engines with a 3.6 litre oil capacity could be (Still can be)1.5 litres low and no Low Oil Level light or message and you might get a Low Oil Pressure light or message first. Part of the reason so many died prematurely.

30 MPG on 2.0 TDI. What could be wrong? (Long)
1.5 litres to fill to the correct level having no idea when it was last at the correct level if ever it was at the last service or at the time of collection.

TDI 2.0 SCR 190 - smell of exhaust fumes ?
My 2016 2.0 TDI SCR DSG Alhambra smelt like i was parked at an airport with the planes fumes falling out of the sky as they do. That was after it had done about 30,000 miles and was regening or having a Clogged DPF light on if used on just short local runs for 5 days or so. 5 miles a day for 5 days and that was 25 mpg or so. On long runs it was a 45-60+ mpg. After 30,000 miles it was an AdBlue sipper. Last of the great Defeat Device TDI's. Sad to think some poor sod has this car after AC bought it at auction with BAC and got it sold about a year later.

Stick on wind deflectors
The issue is not really availability, but availability in the UK which is not in the EU and the delivery from some being twice the cost of the items ordered.

The long leisure drives can work for a good while but the point comes where that is not enough. Leisurely is actually not what is required.

TDI 2.0 SCR 190 - smell of exhaust fumes ?
@AK-S6How many miles has it done now, and how many when 2 years old, then 3 year old at the MOT? No record of services after the Skoda dealership ones is something not that great unless the price you are paying is a bargain and you feel lucky. ? What warranty you you getting with the car, and if you end up buying a wrong un are you prepared to through it back to them? Buying an extended warranty will be an issue. ? Are you going to carry out servicing of stuff you have no record of having been done?

EV car tax
Tracking business users is exactly what needs doing with EV's or ICE fleets when so much financial assistance is given including claiming back VAT on public charging. Lots of big fat EV's are trucking about just as with ICE vehicles not being that efficient and the drivers really do not care even if BIK does help financially, they have the car for their wants more than needs.

Octavia vrs tdi
Welcome to the forum. What is the top end of the budget and do you want one with a Service History of stuff all done and no need for you to spend on service items not carried out even if the car shows as having a Full Service History. That can be a history that shows stuff that might be outstanding so this requires you to budget for that work.

bulbs
@stuupnorth Would it not be best to see what the car comes with and how they are in the back of beyond when dipped or on full beam and that they all work before changing any of them?

@wah007 It is useful when asking about your Mk2 Fabia vRS if you state it is a 2014n model.

EV car tax
https://committees.parliament.uk/event/15715 You can watch the smart people with vested interests and politicians who are clueless. Well the Anti-tampering is coming in. They have to. http://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/future-of-transport-regulatory-review-modernising-vehicle-standards And in the UK where you do not even need an ID card because the Politicians are crapping themselves that the Government might get caught out that they do not know who is where or when. So for now actually ID and tracking generally is not on the cards. We might know what people are up to. Well other than if Voting....

Snow chains Octavia VRS
Because you can not use Snow Chains with 19" wheels on a vRS. PS You certainly do not have to buy new to get Steel Wheels or even alloys in a smaller size to go on your car. Best not to really since you might be putting Snow Chains on.
