  1. They removed oil. Because oil level too high. Now they need to do an Oil & Filter replacement and a measured quantity of oil put in. They can then drain it & weigh it. 857 grams a litre at 15*oC. Then put the oil back in. When it is checked next time they can drain the oil and weigh it. That is the check for engines using too much oil, but equally as useful for engines being OVER FUELLED. Usually diesels but in this case a TSI.
  2. @Lugho I had to look to see that you are in Belgium. Was it a sales person over there that told you. Someone with insider knowledge or like in the UK, tell the customer any old thing. It has a chance of coming true.
  3. Did he take out the dipstick, move it away from the car, light a match and hold it near the dipstick to see if the petrol in the oil ignited? Simplest of checks. Did he take a couple of oil samples to have tested?
  4. The Technician must know exactly what is happening if the engine can produce Engine Oil so that it is too full. Fuel is diluting the Engine Oil. Really, asking the Factory. Ask to see in writing what they got as a reply.
  5. @Tipitip VW covers their back end by saying their engines may use oil. They never got away with the crappy ones that were extreme oil users. Well not in some world regions, they fought it out in Europe. People had to fight individually to get an Engine Fit for Purpose.
  6. Re Kodiaq, or any VW Group Engine, 3,4,5,6,8,10 or 12 cylinder , 44kW up , petrol or diesel there thing is to say May use ass much as 0.5 litres oil / 1,000 km (621 miles.) so 1 litre in 1,242, depending on use, more maybe in first 5,000 km. Tosh, but they say it. Alfa Romeo were amazing if just 1 litre in 10,000 km. But then some cars were possibly rusting away before they needed oil.
  7. 700 ml of engine oil into a 1.5 TSI ACT that had a Low Engine Oil warning means the oil level is probably low. Best check it as it should be checked. At normal Operating Temperature, so once up to an indicated 90*oC or so, parked on the flat, engine off and after a few minutes. A few is 4 or 5 minutes, like about how long it takes to fill up the fuel tank. A good time to check, even if you need to move away from the fuel pump. Old Skool. When you know where the correct level is checked that way, then check cold and you know where it is before ever starting a trip, if you look. Coolant does not always need to be filled to MAX. There is MIN & MAX, if they wanted there could be a FILL TO THIS LEVEL Line. Coolant sets it,s own level. Going to MIN & and there is an issue.
  8. @Cbiggs it would be a DQ200 DSG then. Which has 2 oils, in the box and in the MCU. A 7 speed twin dry clutch. 1.8 TSI or Smaller or a 1.6 TDI or smaller, 180 ps max with a Skoda / 250 Nm max. (There are now 2.0 TDI with 115 ps with a DSG200) Handy if people say what engines cars they have, then people might know which DSG. Lifetime oil in a DQ200 DSG, does not mean that the oils can not be changed, after all the World Wide Recall excluding Europe but there was a service campaign had the Synthetic oil changed to mineral oil.
  9. Advanced Emergency Braking since 2022 is not really relevant concerning a 2017 vehicle like a All New 3rd Generation Fabia from 2014/15 that did not even get new Type Approval when built.
  10. @Stoofa What is the Full Service History showing, is it a history of Serviced to the Manufacturers Recommendations? Was it Annual Oil & Filter Changes, an Inspection Service Year 2 & a Pollen Filter. Extended Scope @ Year 3 & Brake Fluid Changed? Any Spark Plugs changed yet. @4 years / 40,000 miles... Maybe best do sooner rather than later.
  11. @Cbiggs Was your DSG a 6 Speed DQ250 or a 7 Speed DQ381 like @brenfen has? Important for those looking in to be aware what is what, and just how many DQ381,s are failing prematurely. Often before 80,000 miles and any schedule oil changes, some from being low miles / km. Globally it still looks like VW Group are not being pulled up on this. Hopefully in some Country there might be a Class Action on this.
  12. Someone best tell The Donald (POTUS) that this sort of issue is why the USA vehicles are not imported to many countries around the world. He could have his Best Bud on the case of BEV fires and risks but he needs someone helping him sort out his products. PS. re 60 second delays before a vehicle selecting park. One thing to include in multiple experiments should include open the door. It will select Park, or should.
  13. There is an indication when the car believes you are at the last 6 or 7 litres. & according to the fuel consumption at that time it gives an indicated range. If only 30 miles range and you get down hills to the filling station or you lift off the accelerator then you might get 50 miles. As to the fuel gauge / indicator, you might see full and then vent the tank with ones you can vent and get another 7 litres in. None of it is rocket science or fuelling rocket.
  14. Pretty much the Reserve light comes on in many vehicles when there is 6 litres in the tank or whatever. So it matters if you were getting 55 mpg indicated or 27 mpg at that point. 1974 is so 51 years ago...
  15. Some tell you any old guff. Ask the reputable Car Sprayer what they think when they inspect it if you are going to get it resprayed.
  16. You will not know if there are Faults logged until you check, or have someone check.
  17. Exactly. Mony a mickle maks a muckle. Every little thing counts. So Battery Recycling facilities are required. Maybe best far from the population. Maybe out near marshland or old industrial sites laying unused. Maybe where there is to be a Universal Resort. Maybe near the most populated city in the UK with the high amount of EV,s and maybe other batteries which need recycling in the UK.
  18. Obviously VW Group / Skoda do not tell you that also an increase in diameter can also be detected. They seem to ignore that there can be wheel bearing failures or seized brake calipers causing that.
  19. ? Are the batteries or the cells from batteries actually all without effective charge? Can they not be damaged battery packs with some cells discharged or faulty. Were batteries being fired into the air or was it cells? Was the plant back in operation having gained a licence again or were there batteries or cells being stored ready to be recycled?
  20. If the on reserve came on at 30 miles range then the car was being driven drinking a fair bit of fuel before then for a few miles. drive it like you stole it or a hire / courtesy car!. Driven efficiently & getting about 45 mpg it comes on showing 60 miles does it not?
  21. Yes. Set up to recycle / dismantle EV Batteries. No media i can find other than this mentions that.
  22. @Paws4Thot AKA @KenONeill Do they recycle Electric Vehicle Batteries there? There is a video / link in the Ship / Car Park etc Fire thread.
  23. Because it is the basic TPMS that started for Run Flat tyres and identifying a blow out. Set the 4 tyres at different pressures and set the TPMS, you should not get a Warning unless one corner changes enough in size. Rotation of that wheel / tyre. But it is still not telling you which. But the point is the front and back can be at different pressures, or circumference, or an odd one, the spare put on. More technology on say a Superb will disable the CC or ACC, or cause issues with a tyre too much odd size out.
  24. @Cbiggs I misunderstood, i was thinking you meant recent DSG work carried out.
  25. It is not comparing rotation to others, as you can set the TPMS with the 4 tyres at different pressures, or fit an Emergency Spare with a slightly different Total Diameter / Circumference. Or different sizes front and rear. It is comparing with what you set at, for a change in diameter / circumference from what was logged, and enough difference.
