Real world battery capacity
Checking the car with a 62kW battery but a usable capacity of 58kW is easy. Run it to near empty and then charge to 100% checking how many kWh it takes. An Average consumption is just that, a reading showing. *The average consumption is what is questionable not the battery.* 94% of 58 kWh is 54.52 kWh. 179 miles divided by 54.52 = 3.28 miles to the kWh. 6% left is 3.48 kWh X 3.28 = 11.4 miles. ***179+11.4 =190.4 miles. from the 58 kWh. *** PS 287 km is just under 178.5 miles.

New or improved hubs announced, Government EV Loans in Scotland and free & no longer free public charging places..
'Ayrshire Council and Council Tax Payers can't keep footing the bill for car charging.' http://dailyrecord.co.uk/ayrshire/councils-cant-keep-footing-bill-27508271 Fair enough if they do support others when they apply to build proper charging hub's with facilities because what the Councils have on or near the M77 and A77 and the routes to and from the ferries and many places is pathetic other than at Kilmarnock.

The big Park and Rides are deserted most of the time. Thankfully Falkirk has enough Rapid chargers for wanting to just charge and go. Wallyford is perfect for those coming to that area maybe from the south or east or going out that way but not Edinburgh City. Nothing to do with Edinburgh City Councillors thankfully who introduced the 30 minute time limit on 50 kWh chargers. Wallyford is East of Musselburgh so totally the opposite side of Edinburgh if you come across the Forth, come from Glasgow or even Falkirk. You want to get charged near the bridges or the airport of before getting to Edinburgh and you might not be going many miles east to get charged just to get back north, west or even south. Wallford towards the right. Beside the grey H near the A1. Airport is at Ingilston. 18.5 miles to go to Wallyford and 30 minutes only on the by-pass if you are lucky but then you are passing 2 Park & Rides going there and these have 1 DC charger each with the 30 minute limit. I went to both these yesterday. Luckily early while not much traffic.

Harthill park and ride has 1 50 kW charger and it worked as it should. Only thing is you do not access from Harthill services West bound you have to go through the town to get to and from it. BP pulse Harthill services east bound is 59 pence a kW charger as usual would not start for me even though I have credit. It started using a credit card then cut out. That was after trying the ,3rd charger and people coming to ask about chargers. I was not at my most chatty. That was after lots of painless charging in the west coast. Then I had the Airport to get back to and this time charged first time and it appears it was for free. Then tried Hermiston park and ride but no luck there. Switched off during development. Got to Straiton park and ride and 28 mins of not much of a charge gave me enough to get home. With free chargers and ,,35 pence a kWh chargers working but not showing on my account I did 600 miles for under £10 but what a PITA when just wanting on a 100 kW charger and pay and go. The Capital city of Scotland is just a joke for visitors that want to get a charge when they arrive or are leaving or just going to the airport and not parking up. 50kW chargers are not giving much in 30 mins if you are trying to get enough charge with a 45 kW battery and just even to 90% and if you can only get on a 7kW one until the faster one is available it is not worth the time unless desperate.

Walk Away or take it
^^^ I agree. Then when you can or want to or need to get an EV get a Polestar 2, or if a smaller car Kia Soul or the new MG when available. Or whatever is out and tried and tested and onto their 2nd or 3rd generation and without snagging faults that too many new launch EV's have.

Fabia 2 Monte carlo wheel offset
In the UK the OEM / standard tyre fitment on a Monte Carlo with and engine is 205/40R17 so if someone fitted 195/45 R 17 then fair enough. Some do. Briskoda For Sale ads sometimes has wheel / tyres suitable near enough if you are lucky.

Delivery times?
Salespeople in the UK will tell customers that you can only buy the 4 or 5 year extended warranty when ordering / configuring a car. They lie though or who ever trains them talks nonsense as the extended warranty can be added up to the car being first registered. Ps. The UK has always been a European country and still is, just not in the EU anymore. 3 year Manufacturers Warranty from Skoda.

Pads & Disca
A local motor factor is as good a place as any as other DiYers and trades in your area go there. If there is no local Motor Factor more then people have been buying online. There is a parts supplier that is a Briskoda Sponsor. http://opieoils.co.uk

Any paint / quality control issue missed at the factory before the protective covers are applied can be missed as the car is signed for at arrival at a dealership. As it is unwrapped and prepped and given a PDI then any fault or issue should be identified. No customer should be finding faults to a prepped car. Sadly they do because of PDI,s done by Stevie Wonder INC.

Overheating oil when towing caravan
Check at normal operating temp which is an indicated 90*c Coolant and around the 90*c oil temp that your oil is up in the area A of the dipstick after having stopped the engine for a few minutes. That is as it tells you in the owners manual. It advises to be up to max capacity when towing . Just do not over fill. Also check the strength of the coolant which is anti freeze and summer coolant as well as rust inhibitor.

Pointless automotive trends part 232
You might successfully claim against a council of whoever has the maintenance contract where not a local council. But It requires that it was reported then the actioned an inspection and had it done or not done. You can check their records of request information. Threads in the General automotive section of this forum. 4 nations in the UK and that is relevant. So check Pothole websites. See if the location has others posting the pothole was reported. Thank goodness the public are not paying for every vehicle damaged by a driver going over a pothole. Especially since so many see ones daily as do cyclists and never make a report to who is responsible for that road.

Rough idle,stalling DSG
@nigel74 how many miles has the car done and when was the DSG serviced last.

Cost of cambelt change
Spark plugs every 4 years or 40,000 miles if done. Usual fixed price £120 which is crazy. No DQ200 DSG to service. £215 not necessary to spend or have done. Brake fluid at 3 years then each 2 £65 a time. Pollen filter each 2 years. £35 rip off price . Over priced air filter maybe at 6 years / 60,000 miles. These were a rip off £45. They might need changed more often and bought at a sensible price. If you believe Skoda Serviced desk staff AC due even on a 2 year old car and each 2 years. If stuff actually is being serviced and replaced as per Schedule or Guidelines or even recommendations then good

Thoughts on the 1 litre 3 cylinder 95 bhp engine in a Fabia tsi estate including tickover speed and engine oil. Plus anything else anyone has found!
One thing to remember with a GPF (gasoline particular filter) is they regen / clean when off the accelerator and at a high temperature so not like how a DPF does.

Cost of cambelt change
A ridiculous price. Like the service plan considering what it involves. But warranty and road side assistance maybe make it value for money.

If not Touranzas, then what?
Michelin quality control much as anyone else's and I had mates and their family and friends working in Michelin in Dundee for decades and we got tyres free fitted and handed back ' for testing'. So now there is crap Michelin Primacy 4. They last because they are ECO ditch finders. Saying that I have on CrossClimate SUV,s. Crap,. Alpin 6,s which ars great and CrossClimate 2,s (fine, so so in proper snow) on my cars. But I get them cheap and know all the stuff Tyre Sales staff tell people. PS. Remember Michelin own Blackcircles and ATS Euromaster but they might not be the cheapest to get Michelin's from but they can be. Michelin own BF Goodrich and other brands and some are very good. Especially their All Weather / All Season and winter or All Terrains. I have had TIGAR tyres and others and they have matched tyres costing double or more. Michin owned. Kleber, Rikeb, Uniroyal and others.

Delivery times?
There are manufacturers that could have bigger and heavier and less efficient cars built delivered and first registered. But unless they have EV,s, mild hybrids and more efficient fuel users or those that are built to give the WLTP and RDE2 results needed they would be fined on every vehicle and losing money. VW group do not have the materials the batteries or the Partner manufacturers to be able to punt out just any car now. The South Koreans manufacturing there or in Europe or the America's are better organised still during shortages. But then they were already getting out of diesels while VW Group were building factories to build diesel hybrids.

Apec brakes advice needed
@Felfaboccydid the car pass the MOT ok and this is an Advisory on the brake pads. ? How much did they quote and have you actually looked at the pads? Checked them. Ps. Time for a brake fluid changed maybe if not find since 2015, or at least testing the brake fluid for H2O.

The 0w 20 fs IV oil is what VW went to with nearly all engines for the WLTP and RDE and now RDE2. Millions running with that globally now and they have been since 2018. So no issue there. Tick over on start up and while the GPF heats and with anti stall is what it is. Messing about is more of an issue than driving cars as they are now built to drive. Ps. A car with Skoda UK or VW just means a demonstrator, courtesy car, lent to the NHS, leased to utilities / fleet, media or anyone. Not a car driven by a nice person that was wearing a suit and working out of a Skoda office in MK or Leeds. A car driven 12,000 miles in 16,000 miles could gave been in a showroom for 3 months, sitting in a car park for months, driven 5-10 miles occasionally and maybe then longer trips on occasions or just 15 miles each way 5 days a week. There is no way of knowing.

Karoq 1.5 tsi ACTUAL fuel economy
Sorry 10 miles per litre 45 litres used should take you 450 miles / 724 km.

Karoq 1.5 tsi ACTUAL fuel economy
I only asked about the octane incase there was lower than 95 Ron there. You best see what you can achieve in the way of economy using that. 10 miles (edit) per litre or 45 mpg (imperial) should be achievable. (Once you know what you can get then maybe try the higher octane if not that much more expensive.). How far is a normal drive for you?

Advice on buying a low mileage car
Could you put up the registration number so that I can look at the MOT,s on the DVLA site? I would not pay more than a car is worth when the country is full of ones not selling I would not worry because of that article with a 2015 euro 6 emission car in the UK. The average is always made up of highs and lows and for decades was supposedly 12,000 miles. Low mileage cars are not unusual. There are many thousands leased for 3 years by Motability with plenty doing a few thousand miles a year if even that. Then people leasing cars privately that are going to do very few miles.

Start Stop Error, ECP and Engine Light after not using a car for a bit
Welcome. Lots of possible guesses. Maybe more info will help. Auto or manual, miles done. Last serviced etc. Was that it, EPC light on, car home, battery charged, now dead?

Skoda Fabia automatic vrs 63 plate
Welcome. Run away with your barge pole and deposit. You have lots to get to know about a Fabia vRS twin charger. First on the CTHE engine then the DQ200 DSG. Get the service history and warranty history printed out if you stick First question at that dealership is, was service campaign 34h5 needed and carried out on the DSG since 2017. Then is it the original engines in the car? The DSG should not judder. What warranty are you getting. How much are you paying to buy this lottery ticket? Look in the Fabia MK2 section. Look at the top of the page. Plenty good cars about. Right from the off this does not sound like one.
