  2. @Aussiev6 best if going as big as you can with the tyres that you maybe not only carry one spare wheel and tyre that matches but a pair of spares.

  4. Ask the people that did the service what they have done wrong if your car was fine and they did a simple service and then it is not fine. You do not say if a Petrol or a Diesel, So is it a TSI, MPI or a TDI? Did whoever doing the service maybe do a software update? Ask them.

  6. Is this long life oil that you put in and long life oil that you have left in. 5w 30 FSIII so VW504 00/ 507 00 ? It is not going to cause a problem but then hopefully you will change the oil before another 10,000 miles maybe. ? How many miles a year do you do, and how many miles ago was the last oil changed that you were supposed to be changing?
  7. Starting the engine and while stationary with the shifter in N then holding the accelerator to the floor for 20 seconds is not that smart an idea. If actually doing this please video and put a link on here, it might go viral..
  8. You want to use a Tool to remove the coils. I would not worry about parts with VW/Audi like on the spark plugs, because VW / Audi do not make spark plugs, (they have them made with their logo on them.) so that will be NGK or what ever. Cross reference and get the correct plugs. You can get a VW / Audi Oil filter or a Mahle or whatever. Same with Pollen & Air filters. VW do not produce oil and might recommend Castrol, Quantum/ Fuchs or what ever, but just get the right spec. VW504 00 / 507 00 which is Long life for Fixed or variable service intevals, so 0w 30 FS III or 5w 30 FS III, or even VW502 00 for fixed servicing, so 5w 40 FS. PS The brake fluid change as recommended by the VW Group is at 3 years and then each 2 years. If no record of a brake fluid change then you can get a tester to check for the h2o content. Or maybe best have it changed. Skoda published this as a guide. That does not mean it is accurate or all cars with a FMDSH have been serviced thisway.

  10. Hybrids can easily have fuel bought months before in the tank. But then Fuel is sitting in used cars on garage forecourts in the UK from last year maybe with E10 or E5 or Derv in. So last year's summer spec and there has been a winter since and we are back to summer formulation. Then there are brand new cars sitting bunkered all over Europe and around the world with some liquid fuel in while they wait to be completed when parts are available. The oil and brake fluid and those with AdBlue might be a year sitting before they are on the road.

  12. Best ASAP since you got it yesterday. Even try going into a Tyre & Exhaust centre today and ask if they can have a look because you hear a knock. No need to allow them to touch anything but just let you know if they see anything. They might even spot a broken spring. They might not be well trained but they might be as well trained & even have better eye sight as whoever did the safety inspection on your car before you collected it. PS Check the tyre pressures if you have not already just to see what the Fitter or Tech put them to before a Used Car was collected, and reset the TPMS once you have, even if leaving them as they are. That might give an idea of how they do sales car prep.
  13. A 1.4 TSI in a PHEV is not a ACT engine is it? Just a 1.4TSI. (& they require to be on Fixed Oil & Filter regimes.)
  14. 10 amp / 2.1 - 2.3 kW per hour on the 3 pin socket. ( If it is 27 pence a KWh then 2.3 kWh x 27 pence is 62 pence an hour)

  16. At current electric prices £4 should more than cover it if you were needing to fully charge using a 3 pin plug charger.
  17. If counting the pence using public slow chargers in the UK can be cheaper than charging at a house if they are paying the price cap tariff at that house. Public chargers can be free or maybe 16 pence a kWh, even 23 pence.   18. ? Can there only be 1 claim on each vehicle so the First Registered Keeper / Owner? Even Volkswagen Finance! Or can there be multiple claims on the same vehicle as in each Registered Keeper the vehicle had?
  19. A nice car, but even with a Skoda Approved Used Car with a FSH you look at that history. So that you know how much the next one might cost. Is it an Oil & Filter Service each year or each 2 years and a service carried out at 4 years old, so done. That means the Service History if done to the manufacturers recommendations has had 2 pollen filters, the brake fluid changed, but the Spark plugs maybe not because it has not done 40,000 miles. Or maybe at a 4 year service they were replaced.
  20. Stamped up as Minor & Major services do you mean? What record is there of servicing over and above oil & filter changes. Like the water pump, brake fluid changes, haldex servicing, is there 'ticks' for those things?
  21. @nuala Lots of miles and lots of servicing should have been done. The rear diff could very well have wear. It would hopefully have had an oil change sometime. ? What sort of service and maintenance record has the car got?
  22. @J.R. or others will be along hopefully with experience of the diffs. ? How many miles has it done. Then, What about the Haldex Servicing? Was that done in 2016 or 2017 & 2020 or at 30,000 & 60,000 miles.
  23. When VW Group want a 'Warranty Audit' the customers are asked to bring in cars so that the 'Team' can get the job done in one place at one time. A gesture incentive is given. Tight barstewards. This time Skoda / VW need to get the vehicles in at the drivers / owners convenience and then put a little more effort from their side. If Skoda / VW mess about maybe notify your cars insurer and let them know there is an increased safety issue and that the Manufacturers are not taking their maximum efforts to reduced the risk. They should be calling cars in and supply a safe vehicle until they fix the potentially dangerous cars. The DVSA / Dft maybe need to be getting involved if the Recall Action is being done in a 'manana' manner. VW group had to train up people and equip vehicles when they did the Emissions fix which was a voluntary recall / service campaign. This is a Safety Critical recall which they are required to carry out and as such for the warranty, owners need to have done. Also for their and others safety. So basically VW UK / Skoda UK need to shake their lazy backsides, put their hand in their pocket and if they need to mobilise techs then do so. Or cover customers expenses in travel. They know the hourly rate they charge customers, so they know what they need to pay. They will after all get tax deductions for what their fundamental design, manufacturing and material or workmanship failings cost them. Car buyers will get diddly squat other than inconvenienced. This campaign is different from a Warranty Claim / issue, this is a SAFETY RECALL because of Manufacturing Failings that have been discovered. So travel at your own expense is questionable if the Approved Repairer network can not get it's act together.
