DSG box reliability
I doubt that you will get a DSG Oil change done using the Service Plan if you have a DQ200 DSG which has no Oil Change as part of the Manufacturers Recommendations / Guidelines and there is no schedule for servicing them. You could ask in writing. As it is if your vehicle is Serviced to the manufacturers recommendations the warranty should cover what it says in the T&C's of the warranty. Doing an Oil Change on a DQ200 DSG is not 'To the manufacturers recommendations'. People do change oil in DQ200's though because they want to. You can pay to have it done if the Service Plan does not cover it. ?? Did the service Pan cover the Brake Fluid Change at 3 years, the AC Service @ 2 & then at 4 years? Hopefully it will cover the Spark Plug change at 4 years / 40,000 miles. PS Both the Volvo & Ford had schedules for changing oil in the Auto and if not done and all was well then that was fine. Not really recommended to just leave them though. The DQ200 is a 2 pedal car and changes gear automatically but they are Automated Manuals, like Ford Durashifts were. I had one of those disasters in a Transit. I had a Volvo S60 that before i bought it had a new engine before 66,000 miles and then a replacement Autobox.

@lol-lolThe nice fresh denser oxygen going through into the air intake and the less traction from the slightly cooler road surface in the past weeks since people got winter grade diesel will maybe have improved their efficiency / economy. That is if it has been cooler where they are driving.

Tesla drivers locked out of cars.
http://bbc.co.uk/news/technology-59357306 The trouble with modern tech is it can go wrong. Carry your keys, carry cash and ride a bike or skateboard / kick scooter, horse / donkey / camel or walk if needs must.

@lol-lolReally does the winter spec diesel from mid October to April in the UK which is to inhibit waxing reducing the MPG of diesels? As in up to now that people have been using it if they filled up at a filling station since the start of November and before it now is away to get colder! I think not, but then those that monitor fuel use like Transport / Fleet Managers or just individuals will know.

Delivery times?
The top dude is very happy that demand is greater than Skoda can supply. So that sums Skoda's attitude pretty much.

Basing the the UK Average petrol car fuel use on 10 miles per litre so 45 MPG might even be too high, 222 Gallons a year over 10,000 miles. (1,100 litres @ 135 pence = £1,485) Even 40 mpg average might even be high for those that only average 27 miles per day. Those that can get 53 mpg from a tank fill might just as well stick using their ICE unless they are using cheap or free electricity when getting an EV IMO.

This might well be a help to many wanting to move to driving an EV.

JD DRIVER POWER 2021 & KAROQ
VW certainly got into EV's and Plug in or mild hybrids. A bit slow though and then the chip shortage hit, and also they were still producing too many high emission vehicles. They partnered with MG Motors to be able to achieve the low average C02 required to save from paying the penalties if they miss them. MG get the cars built and First Registered and VW Group benefit. https://euractiv.com/section/transport/news/vw-races-to-meet-eu-target-with-new-pooling-deal https://www.am-online.com/news/manufacturer/2021/01/22/vw-group-faces-100m-fine-after-narrowly-missing-co2-emissions-targets

JD DRIVER POWER 2021 & KAROQ
I ask nearly every time there is a post about the JD Power Survey or Which, Autoexpress or any and the results with Skodas or cars on other forums who has taken part in that survey. This forum has quite a lot of members with a Karoq or other Skoda models. ? Who here with a Karoq actually took part in the JD Power survey this year? ? Who has taken part in any survey about Skoda ownership or reliability in any survey regarding Skoda or any manufacturers? Not including Dealership questionnaires, eg http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/469440-octavia-jd-power-how-the-hell http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/440145-car-reliability-surveys http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/413255-jd-power-survey-skoda-fabias http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/407957-skoda-top-of-jd-power-vehicle-dependability-study http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/8372-jd-power-survey http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/405457-jd-power-2016-good-news-for-skoda-and-the-yeti Which. @croquemonsieur I remembered you posting this thread. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/484139-reliability

Tyres - to XL or not?
Full Winters or All Weathers are not like the tyres of old and i have used Winter or Snow tyres since the days of Town & Country tyres and then Stirling Winter Remoulds. Commonly Directional tyres now that work as tyres should. I ran TIGAR Snow Tyres all year on my Volvo S60 and Avon Snow Tyres for 3 years on my Alhambra more recently. No noticeable wear on any off them in over 40,000 miles of use including 3 summers. I ran my Picanto automatic for 6 years with Avon IceTouring tyres on it and they were great. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/459700-avon-wv7-snow http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/382657-maxxis-ap2-all-seasin-tyres

EV real world range and cost to charge
My latest account info arrived from Charge Place Scotland. £0.00 to pay. Free charging is nice while still available. 644.65 kWh if getting 3 miles per kWh = over 1,900 miles without paying for fuel.

Tyres - to XL or not?
@cwm2gWelcome to the forum. Given how you will use the car i would go with the XL's. I do not notice the economy as worse or the noise or the ride. Probably because they are not actually. I notice a tyre that is hopeless for All Season / All Weather use in Scotland and these are the ECO type tyres cars arrive in the UK with from the factory usually. XL Tyres are perfect for Scottish Winters / Summers / All Year and all Seasons. Best fit All Weather ones. That is because any additional protection from potholes is a good thing. Then the correct tyres for UK road conditions. I had XL's on Mk2 Fabias because the OEM fitment was XL,s and have them on my Suzuki SX4. Just run the comfortable tyre pressures. Still got a bulge with my reinforced sidewall Maxxis AP2 all seasons, but then you can do that with even the strongest of tyres. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/459372-fabia-vrs-mk1-170bhp-extra-load-tyres Suzuki with 16" Wheels and XL tyres and just away to fit new ones. & 17" wheels / tyres, Extra Load Michelin 6 on my max speed 93 mph Corsa but it is a heavy EV. & there is no spare wheel with the car. 88V on front and 88H on the rear. Fuel consumption so Range with an Electric car no worse than the ditch finder Michelin Primacy 4 the car came with or the CrossClimate i put on before these. EDIT. NOVEMBER 2022. Front Michelin Alpin 6 now replaced as hit a big pothole and got a bulge. T hankfully it was XL tyres fitted. As no spare wheel in the car.

Moving from an ICE vehicle to an EV - my first 1000 miles and observations on The Good and The Bad
They are operating on shore or offshore all about Scotland and some are off because the wind speeds are too high and some are off because the grid can not or will not take the electricity. There are Solar Farms like at Errol or Mackies Farms that generate plenty power which they can use or store. All about using a mixture of sources for the energy required.

Moving from an ICE vehicle to an EV - my first 1000 miles and observations on The Good and The Bad
@BoxerBoydo you ever get out and about around Scotland much and away from your home area? Do you actually see the wind farms and turbines that are in operation? There are plenty that are not because they are paid not to be generating electric as there is no means of storing what is not used unless going to Pumped Hydro or to produce Hydrogen. https://bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-north-east-orkney-shetland-59302336 http://gridwatch.co.uk It was not a typical Scottish day all around Scotland other than typically it was different in parts of Scotland. So the Solar Farms and canopies were generating electricity in places, and wind turbines on or offshore were and hydro can tonight if and when needed.

Reversing & Rear Fog Lights
In the UK there are very new cars with horrible lights to meet in towns at night with Dipped Headlights & position / sidelights. Worst i see are Kia's, most of the new ones, then MINI's that are not so mini, then Range Rovers or Porsche Mecan. Cornering headlights / Multibeam /matrix / LED crap. I have them on my Vauxhall but they sit low and i have checked them out to see if they are annoying but they are not because not at the same height as on a SUV / Crossover.

Oil level too high warning - Karoq 1.5tsi
Welcome. A service manager knowing nothing about issues with vehicles is not surprising. If the Technician knew then there is a TPI that the Service Manager never checked on. There have been posts about too much oil in engines & a warning message but nobody saying that they were told there was an issue with the 1.5 TSI's and an upgraded part that i have seen.

Cruise, a dodgy left sidelight and more
? Have you got a good warranty with this car? because it needs someone not just with the gear and an idea, it needs someone with knowledge and skills! http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/499250-going-to-look-at-a-mk3-superb-in-red

Reversing & Rear Fog Lights
That is sorted these days. People put in a pair of very bright registration plate lights and off in the distance you think a vehicles is coming towards you. Some have these white lights to the rear brighter than the tail / position lights. It used to be cool (supposedly) to remove the number plate lights, now it is cool to stop those behind seeing the plate because of these LEDS,s.

Reversing & Rear Fog Lights
@timster The idea is that once you are behind a car with rear fog lights at a safe distance and the rear tail lights are visible they put the rear fogs off. Not leave then on for the next few days.
-
Reversing & Rear Fog Lights
@PetrolDave You were 10 years in that line of work before the EU made them mandatory, that was in 1998. (that is High Level Brake liights.) There are European Countries that have legislation that requires a pair of rear Fog lights and there are Skoda vehicles that come with these in those countries and there are cars you can activate the 2nd fog light on.

EV real world range and cost to charge
http://bppulse.co.uk/charging-on-the-go I had Free Membership for 6 months with BP Polar that came with getting a Vauxhall and an account and used it a few times to use 3 pin plugs at ASDA to charge an E-Bike, then it went unused otherwise as i had not got the car. When i tried to get into the account i could not and i could not start a new one with BP Pulse as the e-mail was already used. After trying Customer Services a few times by phone and e-mail i gave up trying.
