  1. Not all 7 speed, Only DQ200 DSG 7 Speed Twin Dry Clutch are Dry Clutch. So no 2 litres or AWD's or engines with over 250Nm from the factory have a DQ200 7 speed, 7 Speed Wet Clutch DSG's are obviously not Dry Clutch DSG.s.
  2. @310golfrPersonally for travelling without carrying much i am a Fabia fanboy and cars that size like the Polo was not a class above like a Golf. Space of an interior does not matter for sad lonely people just wanting to travel cheaply and park easily & comfort is the seat and steering wheel and maybe both heated & enough bum, foot and elbow room. If carrying people or goods that is a different matter. Lots of medium to big cars do not have much room around the arse, feet or elbows with intrusive sills, centre storage boxes, you get to know what suits you over the years by driving and owning different vehicles and driving what you like and not what you think impresses others. Many EV drivers have no wish to drive a Tesla, or for that an Octavia, & the thing about not having something Superb Hatch or Estate size is exactly why some drive something not the size of a Superb. Not many big Cars are available from Motability this year other than Skoda Superbs. @KenONeill Nothing in Glasgow or much of Scotland says 'Taxi / Private Hire Car / Airport Transport, Fast Food delivery, (Old Octavia) Organised Crime money laundering than a Skoda Rapid, Octavia or Superb. @310golfrHas a VW Caddy which is just a Caddy Life that never got the windows and back seats to look like a Taxi or WAV so stayed a Caddy. I have a Shogun Van that never got the rear seats and the windows are blanked so looks like a Shogun Commercial because it is.
  3. Thanks, i did mean RS iV's & not all Mk4's (IV's)
  4. Can all Mk4 RS iV's have a tow bar and tow?
  5. Do you ever have water running out the bottom of the doors when you open them?, especially the passenger door if it has not been opened for a while. Clean out the holes on the seals. Have you looked under the spare wheel and seen if there is water there? Plenty condensation threads on Briskoda. While looking maybe get a couple of Damp Traps from ASDA @ £1 each. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/416702-too-much-moisture http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/333321-fabia-mk2-vrs-condensation http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/473263-condensation http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/292098-how-long-untill-the-excess-condensation-threads/page/8
  6. Likely not. @J.R.Might know.
  7. @310golfr £63 a week for 3 years plus a little % increase each year. Under £10,000 if no advanced payment. I paid £1,700 advance. Now that would be £0 Advance. There are £35,000 EV's now available from Motability with no advance payment required or very low. No insurance, VED or Servicing to pay. I have done 16,000 miles in 14 months and it has cost 2 x £20 for CPS cards & £17 at Instavolt Chargers. Hand it back at end of lease. (16,000 miles @ 45 mpg & £5.70 a gallon would be over £2,000 a year, ) Before that i had a SEAT Alhambra 2.0 TDI SCR /DSG that was £32,000 RRP, and Motability paid £24,500 to buy it. It sold through BCA to Arnold Clark at 3 years old with 44,000 miles for £15,500 and they could not even get that for it during lockdown. PS. I have a 15 year old Diesel Auto 4x4. 26 mpg. & an 11 year old Petrol Auto. 40+ mpg. I would like the 9 seater for £1,249 advance payment.
  8. Sadly the issue can be when the Technician or fitter draining the wrong oil. That should not be the case since the screen was cleaned though. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/492466-has-my-local-garage-ruined-my-snow-monster/page/2 See @peeeturrrrpost http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/447657-rear-differential-destroyed-help-please http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/356099-octavia-rear-differential-failure
  9. @Gazman3000 Sorry as no help, but is the car new to you? and, has it had any software update that you know of because of a 'kangerooing issue' or is that not the kind of behaviour you are experiencing? EDIT. I see you had an issue, if you still have then is the car still under the Manufacturers Warranty?

  11. Sorry not an answer to the question, but This is from VW UK Servicing site. BEV Servicing regime.
  12. I can not see the point of spending 40-50 grand on an EV anytime in the next few years unless there is a saving over driving an ICE which is via HMRC / Income tax, on congestion charge /parking etc and you are getting reasonably priced charging or free charging. But then i can never imagine buying a 40-50 grand car unless i could afford one and not care about the cost per year to get about in it. (Mine is leased from Motability and costs less than £63 a week or i would not be driving one now.)

  14. There are Zoe drivers that regularly use that 43kW AC. No idea what charging speed their vehicles get, and in lots of cases they seem not to know either. Lots of people turn up in new cars, used cars new to them & borrowed or hired cars, even work vehicles and have not a clue about chargers. Read a funny one from a driver at my local hub about another user on ZapMap. I will post later when i can, but basically it was about them hitting a stop button to stop charging when they had never actually managed to get the charger started yet had sat there for a while thinking it had.
  15. No, if the Ford Mondeo's wheels is the PCD (Bolt pattern) 5x108 so not a match for yours which is 5 x 112
  16. I have never seen a per minute cost. Plenty with a penalty if over 45 minutes or 90 minutes but you still pay per kWh of electricity at whatever speed. I have regen still when the displayed battery level is at 98% If you want to have a good battery capacity ready to set off it is not that slow to charge to 98% in many EV's. I happen to be with the car unless away on my bike until i have enough charge, i look back to see if anyone need the charger, have a number on my dash to text if a charge is needed and move to let someone charge, but then many are just parked and the car is left charging. Dropped off the car and picked up and the car left for many many hours. Even left on 43kW AC chargers and blocking others that require them. I start charging showing over 200 mph until 85% when it is about 170 mph & i can still be charging at 88 mph up to 95 or 96% then it drops to 39 mph until 98% where is slows to 8 MPH. on a 7kW AC like today it was 26 mph to 98% then 8mph. This Kia Niro's driver left a good few people peed off that wanted to use the tethered AC 43kW charger this weekend. It was on longer than this as i passed later and it was still there.
  17. Is the 1.2TSI anymore economic on fuel than the Ford or Fiat so a compensation for that slight delay in starting? They are not fitted with the biggest of batteries, Good for the pocket that if it still start on the original and the cars other consumables are not expensive.
  18. Now that my Local Authority is charging to charge it would cost me £9.20 for 40 kWh. Home charging without a Off Peak tariff and on my current one would cost £7.24. Some councils 30 pence a kWh charging is £12.00 Tesco 50kW @ 28 pence a kWh £11.20 BP Pulse 50kW £11.60 BP Pulse 100 + Contactless £16.20 Ionity @ 69 pence kWh £27.60 £16.80 or more at InstaVolt for 40 kWh and that might take me less than 120 miles, much less in the coldest weather. If only getting 2.5 miles per kWh that would be 100 miles costing £16.80 So when not away on a trip and charging outwith the council area i will be topping up free at Tesco on a 7kW charger. As the weather gets colder and energy just disappears overnight and while doing a few local miles daily i am interested to see how long it will take to charge to 98% in a morning after it has maybe dropped to 94 or 95 % from the last charge. Today it was less than 15 minutes to show at 98% after being parked last night with 99% showing and just 5 miles driven. I will plug in at home when there is the chance of frosts or a proper freeze while parked just ti be able to deice the glass. I expect that the Tesco Chargers locally might get used more often now as the Council chargers were not filled with cars on them and some for many hours. Or maybe people will be using their home chargers now and paying at whatever tariff they are on. When in other Scottish Council Areas i will be trying as much as possible to use free or cheaper charging while still possible and the best priced Commercial Chargers as the Quickest commercial ones that do reduce charging times are not a saving over using liquid fuel at current costs. If diversions and road closures are likely during the winter i will not be going by EV as it is getting to be a PITA getting reliable charging in many areas unless paying more than driving an ICE.
  19. For anyone heading to Glenshee / Braemar on the A93 from Blairgowrie the bridge at Bridge of Cally is damaged by flood water at the weekend and closed so there is a diversion in place and might be for a good while. Check before where you can get to the A93 and which sections night be closed. Snow gates were used to close the road at the Spittal of Glenshee yesterday. EDIT, http://bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-59113055
  20. Be aware if heading to the A93 that the bridge at Bridge of Cally has been damaged and is closed so diversions in place for Blairgowrie to Glenshee.
  21. @Jim2015Thanks for your detailed breakdown of cost doing shorter runs with a charged battery. So you can do 34 miles and get the equivalent of 110 mpg of petrol but you could not actually drive 110 miles and use only a imperial gallon of petrol unless it was mostly down hill.
  22. Having to de-grease really takes no time with a rag and an aerosol can of Brake Disc Cleaner having removed the bad you have it covered with. It is an easy solution to the problem that winter roads with salt on can cause to the towing device.
  23. @2793Jerry Will your car be plugged in and charging when you are ready to come out to it from the end of night shift?
  24. All Weathers or full Winter Tyres can be 'Simply Clever' anytime when torrential rain is likely as many are having now and might have anytime and when cold temps are likely to occur without much notice if moving about. In the British Isles it is hardly likely there will be a downside of having taken off Summer / All Season- all year' tyres that are not really suitable 'Autumn, Winter or Spring tyres' as heat waves between November and April are rare. (Not unheard of but then easy to change back the wheels / tyres if that happens.)
  25. Many drive an Auto / DSG or 2 pedal car because they have a disability, maybe one foot or use of one or have hand controls. Many will not use 2 feet with Autos / Semi Auto's even if they have 2 feet to use. With the DSG there is a slightest delay between the foot brake being released and power / drive being applied. Easy enough to slip into N and use the Parking Brake and many do if not wanting to sit any extended time with vehicles / cyclists behind while they have 3 brake lights on. If there is an issue with Stop / Start stopping the car and the engine being off in N then switch it off. Going to Park / P so putting on a Reversing Light while in traffic as you go through R is a no no for many as is locking the drive wheels with the pawl when going into P.
