Mechatronics... Computer or not??
@Skodawheels http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-actions There has never been 'Recalls' on Mk3 Fabia. There has been Service Campaigns which Skoda Call 'Recall Actions' only they do not Recall Cars from Keepers, the car has to be into a dealership. Then there are TPI's that might or might not get acted on if a car is in at the Dealers, like the Service Campaign on 1.4 TDI's and coolant changes, and waterpump failures, and then poor sods landed with a car out of warranty and then the failure. A friends DIL not only had the WaterPump failure but the MCU Failure on her Mk3 and the car had to go without being fixed due to the expense.

Mechatronics... Computer or not??
@Skodawheels ? How many miles has the car done and how many former keepers? ? Is there any Warranty Work in the car history in the 3 years under the Manufacturers Warranty? You mentioned there is no Recall. VW Group never Recalled the DQ200 DSG ever in Europe. Not in 2012 with the World Wide Recall which excluded Europe. There was a Service Campaign in 2014. Then another in 2017 on DQ200's 2013-2015. Then there are TPI's since 2015. There are Slipping Clutch Issues, Software Updates, and then in 2019 another Recall in Australia. There are premature failures that Skoda UK know well and that deserve goodwill from them and VW Group. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/439395-the-story-of-the-famous-dq200-clutch-slip/page/9

Mechatronics... Computer or not??
It is covered by the term they use here, and the ones for ECU's. If they are going to Exclude DSG's / DCT / Twin Clutch Transmission MCU because the MCU is not internal to the gearbox they should in the Exclusions.

Mechatronics... Computer or not??
Their Exclusion of a Mechatronic Control Unit in that Warranty Policy is an error on the part of them as they are referring to Automatics and missing out Semi Automatics / Automated Manuals & CVT's. That is a warranty that appears to give pretty good cover of all the important parts you want covered, but a co-ck up with the like of the DSG Semi Automatic you have in your Mk3 Fabia. Time that you get the Warranty Underwriter to get their technical expert to explain to them they are talking nonsense. Or you need a technical expert, are you a RAC or AA Member?

Mechatronics... Computer or not??
Welcome to the forum. Has the person that diagnosed the fault not explained exactly what the MCU is and why the Warranty should cover it as part of the gearbox. Who is the warranty provider? Main Dealer OEM Parts & covered by 2 years parts and labour warranty.

Replacing our Karoq
The e-Tron is the one to have for covering motorway miles and getting charged quick and getting on the road again. If not in a Tesla then getting the quick charge is the issue there in Scotland unless you happen to be going by Gretna or Perth

Will VAG match Toyota
Those that were attracted to Mk4 Octavia's probably think they are still an exciting car to have owned or still own as they wave them goodbye having rejected them or visited around the back of a dealership where the sit for weeks waiting on Skoda coming up with the promised Updates to Software or hardware. The boring cars that go on and on for a long time are often still Toyota's. They can have their issues but then the Senior Management @ Toyota are made to fess up.

Oil change
Using a pump and then still removing the sump plug gets out crap / sludge if there is any when changing hot oil. Not that there is any sludge to be removed if changing oil and filters regularly.

Is any Octavia MK4 without fault?
@Theredbaron404 Welcome to the forum. You must have been talking to the specially trained in the ways of the VW Group employees at the dealership.

Advice on trade-in value.
The Smart seats were near to the floor and legs were out kind of horizontal. Just like a Dacia Duster is. Very wide door apertures / big long doors are not great unless parking in disabled bays with room to open that door to get advantage of the aperature. This was why i had a Toyota iQ and a Jimny as daily drives. The iQ's doors were rather long. Both were easy in and easy out but the Jimny more cramped in the front for 2 not thin people compared to they IQ . A Yeti's sill i found to be a problem which was a pity as i like the seat height.

Lada Niva
Low Average Emissions matter to them not a jot. Deaths or life changing injuries of those in a Niva or caused by being hit by a Niva in the UK must be pretty low. More choice in affordable work vehicles to buy not rent is needed for people who work hard to earn money and do not have the Tax Payers via HMRC help them swan around in 4x4'ss that never have to leave asphalt.

Fuel tank
All the Data / Reviews / Specs say 66 litres. so 14 1/2 gallons. Near 20 gallons would be quite a weight. @Andyrobbwhat sort of MPG is the car showing, and have you never had the tank near empty and filled it. EDIT. Sorry posted as you did. So the gauge was showing just under half. Maybe there is the answer, take it down to near the reserve.

Throttle when in first gear
@Bagman Welcome to the forum. The OP's 1.0 TSI is fitted to a 6 speed manual gearbox not a DQ200 7 speed twin dry clutch DSG. I had read that there were Skoda Karoq in Australia getting a 1.4 TSI with a 8 speed TQ Auto, what a shame they never gave the Kamiq the same drive train. 1.4 TSI's are no more in the EU / Europe other than in the odd vehicle that VW group managed to keep them in, that is other than when hybrids. There are still DQ200's going to be fitted to 1.0 & 1.5TSI's for a while longer in Europe and the Fabia Mk4 will get that, but soon due to the need for low emissions in Europe and the fact VW never really got a good enough reliability with DQ200's even after 12 years of using customers as road test dummies VW will only do 1.0 & 1.5 TSI's with a DSG when Mild Hybrids & that will be the e-DQ200. This means they will start of using electricity.

using a different sized spare wheel (for short distances)?
205/40 R 17 so the OEM size for a Mk2 vRS or Monte Carlo fit just fine in the spare tyre well on Gigaro or Trinity Rims. Even 215/40 R 17 or 205/45 R 17's fit as i have had all in the spare tyre well when having that size fitted to Fabia Hatches. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/451389-spare-wheel-conundrum If you have a fully packed car and you need to use the spare then you want to put the wheel and tyre that comes off someplace and that should fit in the spare tyre well partially inflated or fully inflated if it still is.

E-bike
Using a Van or WAV with a ramp as a transporter would be 'simply clever', or just a suitable trailer. http://www.bowheadcorp.com http://www.bowheadcorp.com/shop

- Briski cyclists?!
A wonderful calm morning for nice early ride. 15*oC and not a breath of wind. Pedalled the e-Bike with it switched off for twice round the loch (5 miles) just for a bit more exercise.- Older 1.4/1/2 TSI high-ish mile Petrol examples? If they've survived this long.....
Best check the threads (many) on early 1.2 TSI and the timing chain / tensioners and the upgraded ones late 2011/12 on. If no record of the upgrade carried out then you might well need to be having that done. eg http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/344005-12tsi-cam-chain-problem/page/8 http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/466956-12-tsi-timing-chain-upgrade 1.4TSI Upgrade. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/493822-14-tsi-timing-chain-upgrade-kit- Fabia wiring diagram? (LOL, LOR)
@JohnnyJohnBoyThey can maybe help with the fault that has you checking a wiring diagram, if you post what it is that you have happening.- Fabia wiring diagram? (LOL, LOR)
Maybe @Wino or @UrbanPanzerknows. No idea, are they Left Hand Drive or Right Hand Drive.- Oil temp
Low Oil level is a Yellow Oil Can and also a message on the Maxidot on some vRS. Low Oil Pressure is a Red Oil Can and can also be a message on the Maxidot on a vRS. The Low oil pressure can show before the low oil which can be as much as 1.3 litres lowand not come on. If warning lights come on and you open the bonnet yet do nothing the lights will go out. There is still an issue though. The Gauge is for the Coolant which usually shows at 90*oC once it gets up to that. Oil temp does not come on until 50*oC then gets up to the 90*oC etc eventually. You can leave that showing on the dash if you want it, or the fuel average consumption 1 or 2, or range etc.- Oil temp
You must have gone to a different setting on the maxidot if not usually on Oil Temperature. Oil temp once up to temp is usually 92 on a Twincharger, goes between 90-92 when just trucking along, can go up to 115 + when driving hard and spirited, and then should drop as you slow down. ? What were the warning letters? The Coolant gauge is different. Car getting up to temp and then oil at near normal operating temp for trundling along in winter with 5w 40 FS oil . - WRC changes for 2017
