  1. What age is this car and how many miles or km has it covered? How many litres of oil might it use in 1,000 miles? Is the oil level being checked at operating temp and not overfilled? And what oil is being used is it 5w 30 FS III or 5w 40 FS or some other?
  2. Summer Solstice.
  3. Not visible when on a phone.
  4. Abarth (fiat) sell you some lovely upgrades for power, handling or braking and they arrive in a nice wooden box if you are spending enough. Plenty tuning options with official approval.
  5. A professional car thief will take a car they are targeting with or without Kessy. The difference if you were to be getting the car back is the damage they do or lack of damage.
  6. My OCD is set off by not knowing which Kamiq it is and how old or how many miles has it done.
  7. Sorry for me causing confusion by not quoting the OP who I was answering and commenting on and asking about their cars suspension.
  8. It is worth remembering a proper hot hatch from the VW group which is still a sensible family car. Polo GTI,s from 2015 on with 1.8 or 2.0 TSI,s.
  9. There are a good few that might be reading in the Octavia section. ? Do you have one or are you looking at getting one? PS. Edit I see you have a MK3 from your other post on power drops.
  10. If going smaller and fun then it is hard to beat a MINI 3 door of some flavour. If you do need some space and practicality then they come with more doors or length as well but still with a choice of engines and gearboxes that still handle well.
  11. The tyres are hardly low profile but as it is going to 195,s and more sidewall will be a simply clever move. That might deal with the noise a bit. 16" wheels can hardly be considered as big. Maybe the 11 year old suspension parts have something to do with the harsh ride rather than the tyres which are the size many cars of a similar weight have fitted. ? Is the car still using the OEM suspension parts?
  12. Nice. Driving through rain was not something that I had bothered thinking on with rearward facing vents, it was sitting parked in torrential rain or with snow on the bonnet and it melting which is why waterways are usually part of the design.
  13. Is there a tax benefit to you driving one in NZ, or are you going to be able to use it much just on electric and save on buying petrol?
  14. A point to consider is, Even a Skoda Approved Used Car with a FMDSH can mean you get a Full Service History that shows how little Skoda Main Dealers Servicing might include. Even cars with a Service Plan might not be serviced to the Manufacturers Recommendations, so you get a car 3 years old or more and the Brake Fluid change was not done at 3 years, the pollen filter was not changed at 2 years, the Haldex if serviced at 3 years or sooner might not have had the pump / filter cleaned. the VAQ might not be serviced, even the DSG might not have had an oil change at 40,000 miles. Yet even though not serviced to Manufacturers Recommendations they put a Warranty on that Approved Used Car.
  15. A VW Up GTI maybe. Or maybe something that has not much power, but rear wheel drive and OEM ditch finder tyres and you can get loads of fun within the UK NSL. Or get a BMW i3 / VW ID.3 and have fun & range anxiety.
  16. It was @Simon Cobbthat did that. So the OP. Maybe nobody that has bought a PHEV Superb or Octavia has seen this post yet, or maybe just can not be bothered answering.
  17. Bump for @Kodatheskoda Maybe this interests you. I have no idea if you have a PHEV.
  18. You are not supposed to have to guess what it needs if you were not told by the Supplying Dealership. Skoda called it 'Driving in' in Owners Manuals, and do not recommend any early Serving from a 'Breaking in period' that i have seen, but then that is in Europe. *Check Oil, Coolant, Tyre Pressures (reset the TPMS), spare wheel and bolt tightness when you get the car and the check again regularly. Do not wait a year / 15,000 miles, or until warning lights come on.* The owners manual tells you that the engine may use more oil in the first 5,000 km. It has done for decades because some might very well. Some leave the Dealership having arrived there a bit low on Oil or Coolant, and with overinflated tyres. If your cars is one that comes from the factory set on variable servicing then unless changed to Fixed Servicing at the PDI then there is not even a service due at 15,000 km /372 days or sooner. It would be 24 months / 30,000km. If in Australia & the Manufacturer recommends or states the car must be on a fixed service regime, or because the car is a Hybrid and has to be getting oil changed every 9,000-10,000 miles then that will be what it is. ? Is it 'Fixed Servicing' in Australia with Skoda and at Main Dealerships / Approved Repairers to be able to keep the 'Manufacturers 5 year warranty' valid? In Europe or the EU they can not impose restrictive practices like that for a Manufacturers Warranty and cars leave the factory on Variable / Flexible Service Intervals.
  19. A Skoda Dealership or Skoda UK Customer Services can give the Service & Warranty & Recall History that is held on the system, just ask. As to anything done outwith the network then that has to be still on paper form if you are lucky enough to get that. Some Licensed Independents can put on the system. It is about 10 years since the service books were stopped being provided with a New Skoda so hardly worth going off on one about it now. Back then the Body Checks for Paint & Corrosion were supposed to be done annually or bi-annually and there was a page after the Service for the Tech to complete. That stopped being done in many cases, if it ever was done, and now Skoda UK says 'No record of body checks;, well the Warranty T%C's do not say there should be Body Checks, but Skoda UK Fixed Price Service & Maintenance Menus say there are 'Body and Glass inspections' as part of Oil & Inspection Services and Extended Scope.
  20. @paulhipwood You need the diagnosis done first. Since your Roomster is a 2012 it might not have needed or had service campaign '34F7' done which was on DQ200's from 2009 to 2012, so late 2021 were not part of it, then Skoda said the they were not part of '34H5' which was on ones from 2013-2015. This was a software update that was introduced because of issues with heat and pressure and failures. http://skoda-auto.com/service/recall-actions No idea if the member is still selling the part, but before buying anything find out what the fault is.

Some never touch the brake pedal unless a tap on it to take out of coasting momentarily. Then drop a gear because they are driving a 'semi automatic' basically an automated manual. There is engine breaking with 1.4 TSI,s with or without ACT. As there is with a 1.5 TSI. and if you need to drop 2 gears from 7 to 5 then all you are doing is much the same as someone in a 6 speed manual dropping to 5th.

Really there is not much point in comparing an engine that had not got ACT and does not have a 7 speed twin dry clutch DQ200 DSG. Both are cars but are running software / engine management to get different emissions for the WLTP / RDE and now the latest ok ned the RDE2.

Easy enough time after time if you do the same trips in different weather and different seasons to using coasting function and other times not. You can save fuel / get more range and do the trip in the same time. If you can't then maybe that is just down to how you drive, or where you drive.
  24. Driving the South West Coastal 300 today. (Scotland South West). Did 150 mile drive to the south to start the journey. Free charge before setting off, charging now before doing the SWC 300, maybe another charge for free during the day in 3 hours or so, then another tonight while the football is on. Free is even better than much cheapness. Taking advantage while public charging stays free in some areas. EDIT.
  25. Spark plugs are cheap enough and changing them on the engine you have is easy enough, but you need to know if it is the coils that can be the issue. You do not want to clear fault codes that actually are relevant to issues still ongoing. Lots of codes might be from past flat battery periods of time and following then. You want to know what is causing warning lights now. Is it just a bad earth or lose terminal type thing. If there is a Earth / Connection issue giving the ABS / TPMS warnings then you need to know or you need to know if there is more to it and work needing doing.
