1.0 tsi 110hp - any high mileages already?
Supposedly better for the environment but only time will tell because as always it is just another thing that might cause issues in cars. They can require a regen to clean them, but in a different way from a DPF. Since we are only getting to 3 years since VW Group have been fitting them we will see how long before any need replacing and just what VW Group Main Dealers will be charging to replace them if that is something needed eventually. Doing high mileage and longer trips might be all good with them, maybe short cold start trips will be the issue and the sort of usage cars have been getting from those that have been in lockdown.

Scout coming to UK ?
Coming for Blue / Green Light Services. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/493940-return-of-the-scout ? Will these eventually be on the Used market with 'One careful owner' & FSH. just not done at Main Dealerships, so done properly, Haldex etc, or do they have to go back to Skoda UK for Scrapping or Export?

1.2 TSI Vs 1.0 TSI
@charco Not declaring mods like Remaps, Tuning Boxes or other non standard factory parts or options can void your insurance. Really not a good thing for yourself, but at least there will be 3rd party cover for others if unfortunately there is any claim against you or your insurers.

Yes it has a GPF, all TSI engines have now.

sump plug washer size anyone?
They are no worse than any other sump plug, it is just the common practice to replace the plug complete even if sucking out the oil, it is purely your choice. Getting a drip after an oil change is a PITA. If it has had main dealership Fixed servicing then that should have been new Sump Plugs then in 2018, 2019 2020 so all should be good. Well fingers crossed.

? What car are you thinking about with a 1.0TSI? There are early ones without a GPF & then later with. Gasoline Particulate Filters. 5 years back nearly. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/415528-octavia-10-se-estate http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/402506-10-tsi/page/3 http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/477734-10-tsi-115-engine-has-anyone-seen-big-miles-out-of-one-yet

sump plug washer size anyone?
If it was you personally that did the draining and refitting of the sump plug the 2 times then maybe you know it is perfect, if it was not you then why skimp on £3.50 or less. PS. ? Has that can not been getting annual / fixed interval oil changes?

@Wiegott Welcome to the forum. I am very surprised that you have read anyplace about high oil consumption with Euro 6 VW Group 1.0 TSI engines or 1.0MPI if it was those. ? Where were you reading about high oil consuption? There are Citigo (Euro 5 & 6 MPI's), Fabia, Rapid, Octavia, Karoq, Kamiq & Scala sections here in Briskoda with members posting about their 1.0 cylinder cars and nobody i have read has complained about oil consumption. Maybe i missed the odd one that might have.

Firm seats
@Zapperthesnapper If looking at 2014/15 AWD Yeti the Haldex should have been serviced for the 2nd time by now, so if full Main Dealer Service History or Full Service History check for Invoices or a record on the Skoda Service System that these were done.

67.8 mpg
There were threads in the Citigo section with some very impressive Hypermiling from 1.0 n/a petrol engine cars. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/453741-700-mile-tank-range-citigo

New idea for (big) inline 4 engines?
Hopefully before any European Governments impose bans on the sale of liquid fuel passenger cars there will be advances in their efficiency for those that want to purchase ones before production ends and the ability to have them registered for use on public roads. EDIT. If Governments are going to be delaying or postponing the date that ICE cars can be First Registered in their countries they need to get on and tell the manufacturers. http://bbc.co.uk/news/business-57253947

New idea for (big) inline 4 engines?
Carry on discussing something you want to, i am all ears. 4 pot engines will be here for a long time into the future as obviously there is much more to come from them. Just do not make any investments in them with your own cash money. PS This is General Automotive Chat, so we are on engines, car, buses, boats, trains and planes maybe with any means of propulsion.

New idea for (big) inline 4 engines?
http://epropulsion.com/post/electric-outboard-motor-guide/ Maybe not for open seas and oceans, but for inland waters and harbours, marinas and low emission zones through villages, towns and cities it will be the way to go. You can have Solar & Wind & wave energy generation providing energy to charging stations hubs and their storage batteries rather than road or sea tankers providing marine fuels or petrol.

67.8 mpg
Fantastic if you could get it to actually go 678 miles from 10 gallons / 45.46 litres of petrol.

sump plug washer size anyone?
IMO it is well worth getting the New Sump Plug & washer @ £3.50 or less. That is not what a washer costs.

New idea for (big) inline 4 engines?
Lighter engines, lighter gearboxes with more ratios (10 or 11 from VW) or CVT and lighter vehicles that go through the air more efficiently was all that was planned for the past decades. It came to nothing really just like VW's billions that was spent getting ready to produce the great new thing which was Diesel Hybrids which was going to be the trickle down from Endurance Car Racing. Now the big plan is to move away from the fossil fuels and instead get Earth Minerals from this Planet on land or under the oceans or from outer space. Stuff the RoW as long as those living in countries that are Super Powers can get around.
-
New idea for (big) inline 4 engines?
Agreed, but how long after COP26 in November will the Government's wait before announcing the suspension of the bans,? 140bhp / 260Nm of power is enough to move 8 people around in a vehicle at up to 80 mph and that can be done in EV,s or ICE hybrid vehicles. Even ones with 3 cylinder low emission liquid fuel generators.

Ask Skoda to pay for a journey to have warranty work done?
VW group were using IPSOS to do Surveys, very intrusive questions and continuing to contact customers even when told to STOP. It was a Micky take then IPSOS have some sort of award to VW for great customer services. If everything in the world was run by VW it would be just like the UK,s handling of the pandemic where everyday some government minister says the UK is the best in the world at what it does. Many many die but then that is really just a small percentage.

Parking Brake Superb Sports Line
It does sound like it is Autohold that has been reset rather than the e-brake / parking brake. Is Autohold an Amber light, and the Parking brake a red light when activated?

Octavia vRS Diesel oil consumption
Flush the engine oil by taking the vehicle out and get the engine oil indicated temp up to about 100*oC then get the pump and remove the oil, change the filter, remove and change the sump plug and see what comes out if anything, then refill with oil, take it for a run and get the oil up to operating temp, stop and check the oil level and see if it needs any topping up to be at Area A on the dipstick at normal operating temp.

New idea for (big) inline 4 engines?
If trickling down into the car market it needs to be a quick trickle before Petrol & Diesel cars sales are banned in the EU & UK.
