  1. Best drive one and see if there is actually a case of 'less good handing' ? Drive the car up a 60 mph NSL road and go around corners and then tell us if you are getting understeer. Up that a few MPH and see how any 'Emergency Services' drivers / crews will be getting on if they are driving standard models and not 'Blue light' specials.
  2. The storage capacity/ size / amount of cells. The price of batteries / cells are dropping. But then maybe the prices will rise again within 10 years. And maybe as the production of ICE vehicles comes to an end in less than 10 years the cost of driving the ones built in 2020 will increase greatly. That might include the cost of running hybrids with ridiculously short range if run on the battery alone.
  3. Aston Martin have announced that their EV,s will be built in the UK from 2025. They just need to get on then with producing Hybrids and the EV,s.
  4. @bmat Skoda have no idea what batteries would cost to replace in a Skoda Hybrid in 10 years time. They just picked a number, any number. If they are going by how much they would be to replace now why would that be double or more what they cost to replace in a Prius Plug in hybrid? (I know that is not including fitting in the cost Toyota show.) 8 hours labour which is not what is required is under £1,000 in 2021. I could imagine in there is the need for Skoda Dealerships to replace batteries under warranty the inflated cost will be quoted as what the bill will be. This is the Skoda way even when replacing engines / gearboxes. The cost is not a reflection of the cost of the parts to Skoda / VW Group that are supplying the parts. With Batteries VW Group are not the manufacturer and as with other Hybrids & EV's the Battery replacement can be done by specialists as is being done now with some of the earliest EV's which are 10 years old now and getting improved technology installed. More electric storage taking no more space.
  5. Starting 8pm Sunday. Garages not cars, but then garages are for parking cars.
  6. @Tilt I read you asking another member if theirs was a usual speed legal bike and posted after that to nobody in particular. What you do or others say is you and their business. I said it was not to smart to say you had one on a public forum. Well actually to say you ride one is what i should say. Have an accident on one and insurance loss adjusters look at forums just as they can do with modded cars.
  7. @Tilt Nobody has because it is pretty stupid to. When you are turning the pedals and getting along at 20 mph or so it is very difficult for officers of the law to know if the assistance stopped at 15.5 mph. The Government or maybe Grant Shapps seemed to think that e-Scooters are fine on roads going quicker than 15.5 mph could be OK, but it looks like they have legislated that that is the limit.
  8. The Legal Speed in the UK is what it is and what Importers can legally import and sell. What can legally be the top speed of a pedal assist. You can chip / mod them to be illegal pedal assist on the public road in the UK or for use offroad, Saying on a public forum that you have an illegal pedal assist in the UK is not that smart. I can ride pedal assists that are legal & i can go above 20 mph pedalling without assist and that is with one leg. As quick as i can downhill even breaking the 30mph limit if in one. Then i can pedal with assist up hills as quick or quicker than some cyclists with 2 legs, but then i have assist up to 15 and a bit mph and lots of torque dependingon which electric motor the bike has. For me the best one for climbing is the Brose motor on a Specialised.
  9. Back in 2016 & up to 2020 you were able to keep a car for the extra 2 years so for 5 years when the mileage the car had done was low after 3 years and when the lease should have ended. They extended my insurance & Lease by 6 months on the Alhambra i had. The thing was i had handed it back in 2019 and wanted my PIP restarted. What happened from the Covid 19 starting i read about but was not interested as i had a car on order. VW Sharan 1.4TSI DSG still showing available this quarter.

  11. Car accessory shops have always done well selling coolant. (& RadWeld etc) But modern cars get coolant changes less often than back in the day. The Car accessory shop owner will know how much of the coolant suitable sold is to the spec for newer VW Group cars or other manufacturers, and how much is sold as used to topping up or maybe for doing a coolant change where someone is changing a water pump, radiator etc. That is if they are chatty with customers and trades people.
  12. Re going to the ombudsman. Worth a try as maybe someone that works there has a MK4 Octavia and knows how to fix software or is sick to the teeth of having a Skoda with faults.
  13. A hardtail is pretty comfortable on plus tyres and even more so on fat tyres. A dropper seat post is well worth having.
  14. ? Why were a few relays replaced and by who. As in what was the issue that required that? ? What relays? Was the car fine before the battery replacement or was it failing to start, and who replaced the battery?
  15. The debate might be appropriate on if 'soft paint' and lacquer is less liable to chips than 'hard paint' and lacquer. Then what do Subaru and others finish their Rally inspired cars for sale to the general public with. I am a time served car sprayer but started spraying cellulose paint, and 2 pack and never really did much with water based paints. When I did industrial spraying for the offshore oil and gas industry and for mining then I used some very different knock resistant finished which had different degrees of hardness.
  16. @oldian169 It would really be best to ask at the Dealership what was done, and if the Service Desk staff can not explain then have the Master Tech explain. ? What engine does the car have, a TSI or a TDI and what size of engine? If i TDI has it had the VW Emissions Fix already, or have they gone and done that now.
  17. If the car has been getting Main Dealer Servicing then any TPI should have been acted on at that time. Easy enough for 3 or 4 year old dampers to be needing replaced if the car has been driven hard at speed humps etc. Not necessarily by the current owner but by the previous ones maybe. But best check if their is a TPI (Technical Product Information) released on the dampers for this series of Mk3 1.4 TSI DSG. This is just 'Misting' http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/459859-misting-front-shock-absorbers http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/481149-front-shock-absorbers-leaking http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/453226-shock-horrors http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/439428-mot-passed-with-advisory-shock-absorber-leaking http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/446755-new-rear-shock-absorbers-on-warranty
  18. This is the car with the nearest colour match to 'shar n' as i have seen. Love it!
