Vauxhall Corsa electric 2020 Fault (maybe faults) in first 6 weeks & various over the next 3 years.
I never know if they change tyre pressures, but as it is the Michelin Primacy 4 tyres are garbage. The steering is heavy in ECO or Normal if the 'B' is selected, not so much if not left there, and it saves no more in the battery anyway in town, as well as to put it in Sport, and you can use the shifter back to B as you want. As well in Normal or Sport on motorways as well and not in B and move the shifter if you want B. The steering is not heavy in Sport, it is properly weighted, and you get on better in 'Sport' and not leaving the shifter in 'B' but move it back when retarding speed is needed, then you feel more braking affect like going into a lower gear. Not one pedal driving, but in ECO and in B it is pretty near at speeds below 30mph. It actually feels very slow when driving that way even in town. But then that is supposedly 80 ps. The suspension is solid and the car corners flat and sticks to the road with the right tyres & on the OEM tyres the right pressure.. So if you want a soft ride then the e-Corsa on 205/45 R 17 tyres and suspension designed to suit the weight and not for comfort is the wrong small EV Do not try jumping one on yumps. it is a hard landing.

Looking for garage for cheap Scala SE repair
@olliejordan It looks like the car is already at a place where they have decided that the repair ios going to be uneconomic for them to do the work. Looking at what damage is visible and making a guess i reckon the quotes where between £4,500 -£5,000 on a Skoda Approved Repair. That could have been more. Loan car is in the cost etc. If you wait until after March you might find more used Scala coming back to dealerships and prices being asked and for them and availability being greater than it is now. No idea what asking prices might be though. ? Have you driven one to be sure that a Scala 1.0 TSI / DSG is really what you want?

EV sub £30k comparison group tests.
They just need to do it. But really they are nippy enough now, but more range would be a good thing. Nearly 4 years back. A rear passenger door to suit RHD cars would be a good idea. MINI already did ones on the 'Wrong side' in the past, but actually they were handy for drivers putting stuff in behind their seat.

Annoying things about the Mk4!
@OctaviaFirstEditWhat tyres are fitted on the 18" rims will have more to do with noise than the rim size, so what tyres and what size are on the wheels? & is there any difference in the noise if you increase or decrease the pressure in the tyres a little?

Looking for garage for cheap Scala SE repair
Welcome to the forum. ? Have you started pricing up parts or checking availability of parts from other written off Scala? I can understand the Insurers writing off the cars because the repairs are quoted as being un-economic. You are not going to pay what it would have cost the Insurance Company but you are still needing to source used undamaged parts or new ones and pay someone that is in business to make a profit. If a bumper and bonnet and radiator is required then so will a front crash bar, and the crumple bars behind them, and a full electrics check needs carried out, a washer bottle, hinges, lights or just brackets maybe. It all ads up. Minor damage can add up in parts required.

Windscreen condensation problem
Very cold is not an issue if there is not 'wet' before the cold. Or cold and snow and thaw and cold etc. Skoda have had decades to sort out door Seals and freezing fuel flaps and have failed over generation of model after model, the issue is resolved by discontinuing the cars. They obviously test cars all around the world in extremes. Pity they never include doing that in the UK in not very extreme conditions.

non start
@yeti2012Lovely that the car has done such low miles, but it is in its eleventh year. So that might well be an issue with rubber, wiring and connections. ? Is the car on its original Air Filter, Fuel Filter, Brake fluid since 2010? ? When was the fuel put into the fuel tank?
-
non start
Best look in the Airfilter box and see the condition of it and see if rodents have made a home there. The Fuel Filter might be an issue. Is the temperature low enough that the diesel waxing could be an issue if the diesel in the tank was put in at a time when there was not Winter spec stuff being sold.

What should a 100,000 miles VRS (in 3 years) have replaced
@mar-mite Have you noticed that Keighley is only 2 thirds up England and not even half way up the UK mainland so not really in the north, it is not even in North Yorkshire. I have travelled 280 miles and more sometimes from the North to Keighley to buy used cars for years now @ Colin Appleyard. (I am not even starting off from half way up Scotland, so still not really in the North.)

Skoda Fabia MKIV 2021
@Aviii They will as they drip feed towards the time of the reveal. You can be sure that it will be leaked to Autocar and that Auto Express will have 'Exclusive Pictures' from a Factory insider' AKA 'The Media Department'.

Rear end impact damage
@J.R.You should do each way bets. A Solicitors / Lawyers site, and many say exactly that. So it is Basically 'Read your T&C's' Which is what the UK Government Site also says.

Skoda Fabia MKIV 2021
If they wanted to reveal how the car will look they would publish proper pictures, but they tease for months and @Tcotsassists them in ensuring the pictures get onto forums and social media. Cars that might be coming out eventually all that the members posts.

Skoda Fabia MKIV 2021
If this is the final generation of the Fabia it really should be arriving totally issue free. Heating / Ventilation / Demisting as good as it can be, door seals that seal and wiring to the doors that does not break. Oddly when VW made sure pictures could be taken of the New Polo being tested so that they would get on the social media it was wearing parts that look like they belong on a Fabia or any Skoda.

Nice weather to get a new car - not
@ianbennyAll the best. Police Scotland would certainly not be impressed with you travelling to Scotland to collect a car. There is already a Tier 4 in operation and no travelling in and out of Scotland unless essential and really collecting a car is not considered to be essential.

Rear end impact damage
Adults are best making their own choices, and if it come back to kick them in the rear end then they just have to deal with it...

Rear end impact damage
What matters is The Insurance Policy & Schedule & the T&C's. So best read them. For information on Insurance etc there are Forum Sponsors & @DAN@ADRIAN FLUX or another will know.

Rear end impact damage
loss adjusters and others do actually check Social Media and forums regarding car accidents and claims. It is not unknown where someone has posted on forums their Project build or just mods to get asked if they want to withdraw their fraudulent claim. Just as happens on occasions with Warranty claims. Not an internet myth. So there was a member on here who posted vids of their mods and then trips abroad to drive the modded car on a public toll road that was not a case of racing or rallying yet the finance company reposed the car.

Estate 4x4 in trims other than VRS?
My Seat Alhambra 2.0 TDI DSG came on Continental Premium 2 ContiSeal and they were changed as soon as the car was home. (I posted in the Tyre Section about them.) They are the spawn of the devil. The 215/65 R 16 size was perfect. the compound was not. CrossClimates on for the Summer and Winters for 3 winters

It is interesting to see what tyres Skoda fit as OEM as it is expected of customers that appropriate tyres are fitted and the OEM fitment and the tyres they spec as OEM from manufacturers will suit the cars requirements. It is a pity really that so many choices by Skoda CZ / VW Group do not suit UK roads and weather conditions and that Cars can arrive in the UK with some pretty poor choices or options. I have no idea really what Octavia iV have as OEM globally or for the UK trims and drivetrains but i will keep watching to see just what they do as the cars become available in different trims. Strangely with Owners of Skoda's or VW Group cars reporting 'Pulling to the left' in the UK night complain, the Dealership will mess about. never changimg the Alignment the car eft the factory with, and when the issue continues SKODA UK then allow changing the Dunlop or Continentals for Pirelli's with a stronger sidewall, and that disguises the issue. That is fine but then when the owners goes somewhere that Alignment and run out stripes on tyres is understood the actual problem can easily be sorted. Dealership Employees blame Dunlop or Continental, but i bet they do not put that in writing to Skoda, Dunlop or Continental CEO's. Then Skoda / VW keep on fitting Dunlops and Continentals.

@nickcoll What tyres do you actually run on your Octavia & what others have you used & when you experiment or just adjust the alignment do you ever try different tyre widths or compounds or season types on the car to see how the behaviour on the road is? These are tyres from 205,215 and 225 tall on 17" x 7.5 rims that were tried and compared on the same or different cars, tyres with Speed & Load ratings appropriate to the vehicles being used on. One big difference in the handling, feel, involvement on the different tyres could come from adjusting the steering assist to suit the tyres & rims fitted & the season. Also adjusting tyre pressures. There is a lot to be said for actually trying different tyres and set up on your favourite roads that you drive on and then making decisions or giving comparisons on what does what and where. A 215 tyres with rim protection can be wider than a 205 with no rim protection, but there might be no more tread on the road with the 215. Then there are XL on not XL sidewalls to take into account.

@Carlston Summer tyres and winter conditions is a whole other subject so a Jag crashing has only to do with a Jag crashing, You really have an obsession with smaller wheels and narrower tyres. You should really tell us what you drive, where that is mostly and what tyres you have fitted. My Shogun Van has on 265/65 R 18 CrossClimate SUV's rather than the standard width 285's. The width is not an issue and it is has been snowy, slushy and now that slush is ice. For 18 Years i had Jimny Automatics which are RWD unless you select FWD as well, they come from the factory on rubbish Bridgstone Duelers in 205/70 R 15. (The new Jimny's are on 195's) The first thing you did was change for proper tyres if using offroad, maybe 195 or 205 with the tread that suited, if for road use then 215 tyres where best, or wheels to give a bit wider track with 205's. It is a matter of horses for courses and narrower tyres certainly could be entertaining, and the wrong tyres on wet roads even more so. Various widths from 205, 215, 225 to 235 on 15" or 16" rims. Wide road or AT's tyres for grip on road as they do that better than narrower ones.

Car manufacturing affected by a global shortage of semiconductors.
Just a week ago he became 'The worlds richest person', because of the value of shares rising. He is damn careless losing billions in a week to become the 2nd again. http://bbc.co.uk/news/technology-55578403

@nickcoll I have driven to the limit with cars for 5 decades starting on rear wheel drive ones on narrow tyres, and then fwd, and all wheel drive and i have exceeded the limit and cars have improved and tyres have improved, and road surfaces have changed. I still drive old cars, and i drive new ones. If i want to feel on the limit i no longer do it on public roads, i drive to the speed limit and maybe a bit more (but 3 point off a ban that is not very often) and i get around corners on my side of the road, but i do not put a heavy car on 205 tyres just to get an entertaining drive from them. I might drive a Fabia on 205's, or a new one as they come on 215's, but as for an Octavia that to me is just silly. My EV came on 205/45 R 17's, is FWD and the Michelin Primacy 4's are an absolute joke. Nothing entertaining even on a light throttle having TC interfering.

@nickcoll Sorry but i believe you are talking a loads of rowlocks. You are in the UK on UK roads and a 60 mph NSL. No idea what Skoda UK plan for Model Trims in 2021 or the future as things are very much at a point where car sales are down. They might want to do cars with petrol engines and haldex and narrow tyres in the attempt to get lower Average Co2 g/km as they are required to, but then they might not.
