- When to change brake pads?
By the Manufacturers Recommendation (Not a schedule) the brake fluid is due being replaced at 3 years. Brake Checks are free at Skoda Main Dealer services / visits to a workshop supposedly. Then if getting Skoda Main Dealer Servicing you might get told that the Discs are 80% work even if not 20%. and the discs might be more need replaced than just the pads are. The new Skoda UK servicing regime has the Extended Scope Service each 3 years. Oil & Inspection Services each year if on fixed service intervals.- Dealers Servicing Price Increase 2021
If swapping tyres around that is a bargain. Maybe even a bargain if it is the wheels and tyres. You could go do it today yourself and decide. If the Tyres on the wheels from front to rear and rear to front then remind the Service Desk Staff at the Skoda Dealership that as part of the Extended Scope if being done then the wheels have to come off anyway, according to the Skoda UK Fixed Price Service & Maintenance list.- What were the original tyres?
@the_worrier what is on your car now that are getting replaced and are they terrible?- Sportline 1.5 TSI engine tune/remap.
Some might want VW Group to guarantee the factory engine management that can be trusted in each and every vehicle with a 1.5 TSI before they void the manufacturers warranty by remapping. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/474324-15-tsi-remap http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/471197-15-tsi-evo-remap http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/477933-15-tsi-remaptuning-box http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/456074-is-the-wltp-15tsi-worse-than-the-pre-wltp-15tsi- WRC changes for 2017

The condition of the discs and pads are worth checking with the car having sat so long since delivery and the PDI. Maybe it will get an Italian Tune up to clean off any cosmetic rust if that is all they have. If the car was set to Fixed Servicing of 372 days / 9,400 miles then it is due a service which includes a Oil & Filter change even if the car has done only 23 miles. Or especially since it has done only 23 miles since the car was reset from 'Transit mode'.- Skoda Enyaq
Where there are no TESLA Superchargers in Scotland or where there are and it is not Free Charging for the car bought or leased the Tesla are sitting on public chargers get charged for quite some time. Just like other makes it is for quite some time they are left charger blocking if the driver just bogs off without giving thought to other EV drivers.- Gearbox
@TomsalmonHow old is your car? If it is one with a CAVE engine so 2010-mid 2012 then did your DSG get the Service Campaign '34F7' done which was an oil change from Synthetic to Mineral and a software update. There should be a sticker in the spare tyre well if done. http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-actions Or if you car is 2013-2014 there was Service Campaign '34H5' which was a software update. There is no Oil Change Recommendation or schedule for changing the oil in a DQ200, but some do have it done. PS The car does not have a Cam Belt, it is a timing chain. There are 2 belts that really should be changed when the water pump (Including the supercharger magnetic clutch) is replaced.- Fabia Estate no longer available?

@lockesboy Welcome to the forum. Is this a 'Skoda Approved Used Car' from a Skoda Main Dealership with the remainder of the Manufacturers Warranty / 12 months, or are you getting a 24 month warranty. The car might have only 23 miles on it, but other than registered in 2019, when was it built? Time it gets an oil and filter change if that oil is going to be a year or 2 old. How long did it sit before registration? A new battery should be part of the deal also.- Redex any good for emissions?
@Camlobe What engine has the car you are talking about that loses mpg when you give the car a splash of Asda fuel? Is this Asda 95 ron Unleaded you are talking about, and instead you buy Esso or Shell 95 ron that gives better economy. Now where do ASDA manage to purchase that inferior Unleaded 95 ron , or even the diesel they sell? http://petrolprices.com/news/supermarket-fuel-actually-worse-branded-fuel- Engine Oil
@D23 Welcome to the forum. You first posted 'Britt Oil' then in the next post 'Britoil.' There is Britt Oil & Gas which is involved in Oil & Gas as there is the Britt Oil Company. . & there is Brit -Lube. But as to a connection to BP......... https://brit-Lube.co.uk- Question
@Lucasabt Commonly the fail happens when under 3,500 rpm when under acceleration and on Supercharger & Turbo which is from 2,800-3,500 rpm. the APR Stage 1 is no issue with a CAVE or CTHE. It is actually better than the standard VW Group / Skoda map. That is when it is with a sound engine obviously. It was not a remap of the CAVE engines that killed them. Plenty were done and were less prone to failure than the standard from the factory with the first spark plugs they came with then the 2nd ones they went to. The early CTHE's were not problem free, the failure rate was the same as the CAVE's they had just replaced. Then there was an improvement. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/358101-vrs-mkii-14-litre-twincharger-oil-consumption-issues http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/294051-cave-cthe-14tsi-just-reply-please-if-you-have-had-an-engine-replaced See page 20. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/353149-fabia-mk2-vrs-14tsi-replacement-engines-replaced-how-many We know with the 1.4 TSI Twinchargers about the one plug that gets burned out, so we can forget what happens with other engines commonly and stick with these ones. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/291585-warning-on-spark-plugs-14-tsi-cave-vrs-cthecheck-the-spark-plugs/page/19- FABIA VRS MkII - SPARK PLUG FAIL - NEW ENGINE - HELP / ADVICE
Bump.- Question
@Lucasabt Have you had a look in the Fabia Project section at some of the members Fabia Twinchargers that have upgraded engines installed.- Question
@Lucasabt If you want some reading on the Euro 5 1.4 TSI 180 ps as in the SEAT from 2009, VW & Skoda from 2010 ( & the TFSI 1.4 185 ps in Audi A1) then here it is. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/421365-links-to-lucifers-ultimate-guide-to-14-tsi-twincharger-engines- Question
@James@RRG_Skoda_Rochdale might be able to assist with the OP.- Question
I understand that CTHE were still available in the Touran 132kw in Australia in 2015. Then VW have produced or turned out refurbished CTHE's since the Mk2 Fabia vRS cars production stopped. Differences CAVE to CTHE. There are CTHE that had the oil squirters updated after members here got late 2012, early 2013 CTHE and still had an oil drinker, then there are several software updates from October 2012-2014.- Toyota dealership rip off on GR Yaris already ( don't blame it on Covid-19 or Brexit)
As much as dealership staff will be mump and moan about warranty work it keeps them busy. It is also not coming out of their pocket. But then when the car Infront is a Toyota there really is much less Warranty repairs filling their workshops. There will be Yaris GR,s getting ragged a bit but more will be getting cherished. They will be like Focus RS where some get used hard when new but until they are in the hands of owners down the line is when they as are hammered. There are some lovely Scoobies about and lots of ones with more noise than go. - When to change brake pads?
