  1. They have built that just beside the Council Headquarters where there are only 2 chargers and many Council EV vehicles, so basically it is for their use. For the public there is a Starbucks Diner, KFC, McD, Marstons, Spar & Greggs shop at a Shell Filling station which is getting proper Rapid chargers just 100 yards away. Country park 100 yards in the opposite direction. The more you build the more you spend and the more maintenance required. Biggest problem usually is seeing the screen when there is no shade from the sun.
  2. The new charging hub in Forfar is almost ready to open but the white lining needs done. Hopefully it does open without all the landscaping getting finished since it is winter. The drainage area will be needing fenced off.
  3. Part 1 tonight @ 8-9pm after On the road @7pm
  4. It really is strange all these vehicles with DSG's around that are so slow to start from Stop / Start having turned the engine off. In the different VW Goup DSG's both petrol & diesel and different engine sizes i have driven over 10 years i have never experienced a slow start. But then when stopped and getting ready to move off i already have the engine re-started by touching the accelerator, or turning the steering wheel. I never have tried to accelerate from a junction with the engine not running.
  5. Such a cold place, well know for its outdoor curling / skating rinks. I see that in October the Weather stations had it around -6 in North Devon. You certainly do get it much lower than much of Scotland ever has it.
  6. I take that is a private weather station taking the Air Temp in North Devon.
  7. It will be 18,000-20,000 miles interval with Variable / Flexible Servicing be the VW Group regime with VW507 00 oil so 5w 30 FS III. Never seen anyone with a 1.4TDI 3 cylinder Euro 6 engine having it to 24 months / 30,000 miles. (30,000 km is a figure that can be correct.) 9,400 miles / 372 days which ever is soonest on fixed. (some show 9,600 miles and some write 10,000 miles on a service sticker.) https://cms-preview-ngp.volkswagen.co.uk/owners/servicing/regimes
  8. @AGFalcoIf the ground temp or even air temp is at around -2 to -4*oC how hot does the oil indicate it has got to in 6 miles with the cover on, does it even register at 50*oC ?
  9. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/487885-hot-car-front-grill-cover-photos A very southern members. I very much doubt that it will help a 1.0TSI get the coolant up to temp any quicker than it can already and the oil will likely be any hotter either in 6 miles with a Muff / Cover fitted.
  10. Ahhhh.......... Perfect old persons car, fall in, so easily, and no need to get out... Just sign the finance agreement, life can be too short to worry. Too busy trying things out, launch control etc to 'turn on the bl00dy lights'. Once he did have on the lights and rear fog i wonder if he forgot to put the fog light off when no longer needed. (Maybe reminded by the camera person...)
  11. Welcome to the forum. ? What is the make / type of tyres on the car now, & speed /load rating? You might fine suitable 16" tyres and wheels for sale in the Brskoda for sale ads.
  12. I do not charge much in Aberdeenshire, Fife or Dundee, i could well need to in the coldest weather so will be paying now as and when needs must. The availability of using 'Free Public Chargers' is starting to become greatly reduced up the east / north east of Scotland.
  13. The choice is 60, 75, (TDI ) 90-95 or 110 ps TSI's in Mk3 Fabias, there is no 115ps. Not in hatch or estate. You get 1.0tsi 115ps Scala, Kamiq, Karoq, Octavia. The 95 ps Fabia is certainly not under powered for UK roads with 4 adults and luggage in the boot if that is what it might have to carry.
  14. @peter3197 ? What do you consider to be 'normal driving' around the world in different environments which might be in torrential rain / snow / ice or just lovely warm weather. Is driving the same as before the puncture as after once you fit a spare with a tyre that might not be directional even if the 3 on the car are, that has a different tread and compound and even profile perfectly OK? Many 'Steel spare wheels' come without the 'Warning Stickers' that could be because the wheels are the same as people might use as 'Winter wheels' for use with chains. Best not remove the sticker if there is one even if the wheel and tyre were the same size, but they spare is a steel wheel and the cars 4 wheels are alloys. The weight might make no difference, but you would want to check if the width of the wheel is the same and the offset. Anyone can do what ever they want, there is no one policing stupidity. Well there are Insurance Loss adjusters / Police examiners is in the very rare eventuality you were in an accident while getting a shift on at NSL speeds or on a Motorway and there was an accident, even one that you were just unfortunate to be in. Only the person removing the sticker knows if they might be the only person using that car and maybe needing to fit the spare wheel. 'Warning' are not a bad thing considering not everyone still have the common sense they were born with.
  15. They are 'Emergency spare wheels'. They save space as but are nor 'Space Saver' very narrow wheels and tyres. Nothing 'pretend' about them, they are the real deal. If you want a matching wheel and tyre to the 4 on the car then just buy one. It is not only Skoda or VW Group that have Steel Wheels as Spare Wheels and of a different size and with a different tyre fitted. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/406822-16-spare-wheel-ftw
  16. As it is you need to slow down and drive when any odd tyres size / wheel is on as a 'Temporary spare' regardless of there being a Warning Sticker on it or not. Go slower simply because it is a brand new / green / unscrubbed tyre. Also the pressure likely different as well as the compound / size / weight. You can reset the TPMS when you fit the odd one out sized spare and maybe not get a 'TPMS warning.
  17. We do have roads in the UK like the ones he says there are not, just he obviously has not seen them. EDIT. If he watches EVO Car of the year 2020 in the Scottish Borders he will see perfect smooth roads with solid white lines at the verge and no centre lines. You can find the same around with broken lines.
  18. @DSLNot exactly SKODA coming out to you, but the AA operative if you leave the battery flat if that is going to happen.
  19. £1 de-humidifiers / damp tramps are cheap enough for even a tight Scottish Person. Or a marg tub with dry salt in it and holes in the lid. In the car and in the boot.
  20. Pre WLTP / RDE certification all in the factory got VW508 00 / 509 00. Just like Toyota did back with Euro 5 coming in when they went 0w 30 instead of 5w 30 because the customers were saying the MPG had increased. So use the oil that will allow lower emissions under the test regime, and if the test is replicated on random cars imported into EU countries. Like VW Group cars into the UK, which happened from early 2016, because VW are cheats. So if the VW508 00 is a must so be it. But VW502 , 5w 40 FS can be used for Fixed Servicing. Like using VW504 instead of VW508 the Emissions might be affected. But then maybe your TSI will last more decades than with the Oil VW Recommend because of the viscosity. When have VW cared about cars after the warranty has expired.
  21. @CJJE So VW Group / Skoda have VW508 00 as the recommended oil for Variable / Flexible service intervals. ? What are the recommending for 'Fixed Interval' servicing for those that do not want Long Life oil used, given that you can use Long Life for fixed or variable. There are main Dealerships servicing Euro 6d TSI's and using 0w 30 Full Synthetic for Variable Service Intervals & which is not to VW 508 00
  22. @Dyrnog Why worry about how the Dealership resolve the fault as they delivered the car. Just get your courtesy car and they can replace the bumper or have a smart repair done so that there is not scratch or sign of a repair. If there is just some 'Kerb Side' autos type poor cover up job then just do not accept that from them.
  23. Both are ridiculous prices to pay for a litre of VW 508 00 / 509 00 so 0w 20 FS IV. That seems to be what people are going to be paying if sticking with VW508 00 & not just going to use VW504 00, so 5w 30 FS III
  24. If the battery needs replaced under warranty the car need not go to a Dealership. Skoda Assist can come to you, and Skoda UK the Warranty Provider having agreed that it is a valid warranty claim can arrange a battery being fitted.
