How To Stop Our car being stollen throught OBD2 port ?
Older Skoda are a bit of a magnet for toe rags looking for an easy steal. Maybe Skoda CEO & the Media department can put out a 'Press Release' or Advert saying what a success Skoda are having in increased sales and how making inroads into the prestige market and are as desirable to car thieves as other premium brand. If they are actually a target for thieves who are going to export them or break them for parts.

Limp mode, no boost, no codes, wont rev over 2250rpm
@GavinMcCrae A drive to Glasgow via the motorway is surely not on so via the longer route. I would read the Henry's Posts and Comments in the Dealership Reviews on this forum, both North & South because i feel you might be having a wasted trip. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/104376-henrys-north-glasgow/page/2 http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/34816-henrys-south-glasgow/page/2/#comments

@GavinMcCrae Have you been to Thomson Diagnostics & Tuning Services? I hope the other work done was not at Old Street Garage.

Volume of engine oil?
You need oil to VW 507 00, so 5w 30 FS III (That is Long Life regardless of fixed or variable servicing.) No idea of the quantity you need.

Superb IV improving battery performance
The car tested to the same WLTP regime would achieve / replicate the results of the Certificated WLTP. My EV' is losing so much range overnight that it surprises me compared to a couple of weeks back. Then the actual power usage is pathetic. But then Vauxhall / PSA have a Website showing what to expect according to ambient temp, speed, AC / Heater used or not.

If Ingrams Ayr are getting it in they maybe said it could be 2 hours to do a diagnosis. But then the Fixed Price Servicing and Maintenance is the first 30 minutes for £60. Maybe the person with all the gear and more than an idea does not need 2 hours and can pin point the problem within 30 minutes from setting down the work sheet and plugging in. If fault diagnosed within 60 minutes then a bit of a fraud to charge for a 2nd hour. If they get the job to do even charging the 2nd 30 minutes is taking the pIth.

Decision Day
Vauxhall give the option of All Weather tyres and some other stuff for £400 on a Combo Life. A Fiat Panda Cross came with good tyres for offroad and winter as standard, Isuzu give the option of BF Goodrich tyres.

3 quotes for full service
There is no such thing as a Full Service. If there is it is much more than a 4 year old / 40,000 mile car would get. (BMW do the Big Service at around 125, 000 miles for over £1,200, if someone is stupid enough to pay. change all fluids and bulbs and do a Major service.) There is Fixed or Variable Services. So Minor & Major time about. Each year / 9,400 miles. Or Major & Major at 2 years and 4 years. 18,000-20,000 miles or sooner between services. Now it is called Oil & Inspection Services & Extended Scope at 3 years. On Skoda Fixed Service & Maintenance menus for cars 3-10 years old on Fixed Servicing and the parts are paid for as extras other tyan the Oil Filter and Sump Plug. *At participating dealers.* ??? So what is the 'Full Service' to get done? Is it Oil & Filter, Pollen Filter, Air Filter, Spark Plugs replaced? Was the Brake Fluid changed @ 3 years?

All Weather tyres and Summer tyres
I have V rated winter tyres on to slip along at 70 mph when weather conditions allows and the Max speed is only 93 mph anyway.

- Škoda Scala Tyre pressure
@nickVe It helps only if the pressures for a 1.0TSI is the same as for a heavier 1.5TSI. Maybe someone with a 1.5TSI could post what is on their car.- REVO Stage 2 for GPF cars - 400PS / 562NM without dp/gpf upgrade?!
Strange that English speakers in the UK use the term 'Good Quality Fuel' when surely they are meaning 'Super Unleaded 97 or more likely 99 octane.' @4 minutes. (So they show a Shell V-Power Nitro + pump.) Why not say what they actually mean and 99 ron if that is what it is? And 'Lower Octane' if that means 95 ron. There is no 'Lower Quality' 95 Ron Unleaded sold in the UK, just not a higher octane, or Lower quality 97 ron Super Unleaded. For 99 Ron it will be Esso Synergy 99, or Tesco Momentum 99 or Shell V-Power Nitro + in the UK, unless anyone is maybe buying 102 ron.- Heavy condensation on inside of windows
Surely it is a Windscreen / Glass specialist coming to fit a new screen and not Dealership staff. The age of computers is the issue, VW Group were like rabbits caught in the headlights as they needed the WLTP Certification & RDE results for the 1.5 TSI's and they had no Engineering resolution so went for a Software solution, and they compromised driveability in the real world to get WLTP results under the WLTP regime. They have been doing the Robert the Bruce spider thing ever since.- DSG Failed at 30k
If you or a warranty company pay all or part for parts there is a 2 year parts and labour warranty. If VW Group are paying for the parts not so. The labour being paid for to fit parts requires the Dealership / Repairer to be doing a competent job. The Past Brand Directors & Skoda UK, all 3 of them usually a a 'Resolutions Manager' handle the claims, not a PA.- Skoda Fabia discontinued
Great if Skoda / VW can have a N/A engine & a turbo with manual & DSG and get the low emissions they need & not have Mild Hybrid with the DSG. The other cars with a 1.0 TSI or 1.5 TSI are going to be DSG only when they are a Mild Hybrid.- Heavy condensation on inside of windows
@croquemonsieur I will not bother linking the steaming up threads and posts from the various models / generation of models on this forum from the past decade as they are easy to find with a search including ones from this past year. Not common in the Karoq section though, and then there has been a cause found for @Rockinghorse's car problem.- ex-lease and service plan Scout - any problems to look out for?
Welcome. Condition condition condition, first check tyres, brake discs, windscreen for chips. That takes only minutes. Then start on the rest of the car, look at the spare wheel. Paperwork, and any records. Were there advisories on the MOT's? It will be 1 previous registered keeper, no idea how many drivers used that car if a fleet vehicle, or how many Unregistered keepers while 'the car has been In trade'. You need to see a service history showing what was done and when, invoices / receipts. You want to check any Warranty Work / History. a FMDSH is not enough as that can be a history of not much. Service Plans do not usually include the Haldex @ 3 years( DSG oil @ 40,000 miles when there is a DSG) or Brake Fluid change at 3 years.- Water retention in doors
You can get the same with windscreens and air vents. If the wet car freezes and the glass and then before you go to the car it snows you might brush off the snow from the screen and then pour warm water on and then with heater on car drive with a defrosted car. Do that for a day or 3 with the daytime temp staying below freezing and the windscreen might well keep misting up as the air intake is blocked with ice. Had that for several very cold winters driving a Mk2 Fabia. That and ice blocks in passengers doors. Same as parking in the same place every day over days and nights of freezing weather and pouring warm water on the glass, eventually the ground all around the car is covered in ice. Door locks are freezing etc. Location location location. If the area you live, park and drive in is not one where 'Cold Weather payments' are made because of 7 consecutive days of at freezing or forecast to be then you might never experience such conditions. The sun can melt snow and ice yet the ambient temp stays below freezing. There are Postcode areas where 7 payments have been made over a winter period.- £1.50 per mile??!!
'If' the infrastructure was in place in the 4 nations of the UK to have the majority of the car drivers buying EV's and using them in 10 years time then there might be disincentives put in the way of private and fleet buyers / business users to purchase a new ICE vehicle in the years before and encouragement to purchase / lease EV's or Hybrids. There is the very big 'IF'. A scrappage scheme or grant scheme to encourage people and businesses not to buy ICE vehicles might work, and then higher Tax on company car drivers driving ICE passenger cars might have an affect. It will depend lots on what Car Manufacturers are producing and selling in the lead up to 2030.- Water retention in doors
So if the water in the door that you said you do get is not still there when the temperature drops freezing it and still there as ice or snow on the glass turns to H20 and adds to it there is no issue, but once it does freeze and the passenger door might not get opened the ice can get added to. It is just how it is. - 2030 Ban for new cars/vans run on just petrol/diesel
