  1. @Doog Welcome. So now that the frosts are here and freezing days and nights remember as there are thaws or you use warm water or de-icer on the glass you need to open the passenger door as well as yours and make sure any H20 is drained and not building up as it stays frozen in the doors or the doors freeze to the seals / door jam. It is easy once the first amount of water is in the door and frozen for any additional water to be caught and the mass of ice to grow.
  2. That will be Aston Martin who modified Toyota iQ 1.3's to an Aston Martin Cygnet to sell to customers getting an Aston Martin as part of the 'kidology / scam' that many manufacturers are doing right now to 'fix their 'Average Emission figures' by partnering up with another company. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/electric-cars/analysis-winners-and-losers-automotive-co2-race
  3. @HamishP Serviced 2 years ago does not tell us much as the Scheduled DSG oil changes are at 40,000 miles, so how many miles was the service @ 2 years ago and how many miles on the car now?
  4. Yes the Body Inspection should be done at every service and logged on the system. If there is a claim for paint or corrosion Skoda UK often say 'No record of inspections being done'. They have said this for 8 years since they stopped Service books. So Full Main Dealer Service History tells them Who and Where are not putting Body & Glass inspections on the System. Their approved Repairer / Dealerships. Customers need to ask for their print out. Dealerships need to give the print outs. Contact Skoda UK and get them to send the car Service & Warranty history.
  5. If the ground / air temps get down around -10*oC--12*oC & lower then yes you need to be concerned like all the Car Dealerships, Hire Companies, Fleet operators with vehicles sitting with diesel in from before October. What you could mix with the diesel is the diesel being sold now after taking the car for a run to use a few gallons, or you could get Anti-Waxing Diesel Winter Additive and add to the tank and go drive and get it mixed in the tank. Google Anti-Wax diesel Winter additive.
  6. I really do not need my other cars anymore as they have only done a few miles each during Covid Lock Down. But they will get used in the future and they are mine and paid for and really are not a great expense to insure or have VED on and no petrol or diesel is being paid for in them just now. They have moved and the fuel tanks are full of Winter Spec fuel. One has just gone through its MOT and one is due next month. 14 & 10 year old cars. A bigger EV could do the job i have my old cars for but i have what i have now for almost 3 more years & by the time it goes back the world will have moved on as will EV's and i might then get a bigger EV. Maybe not though as i got a small one to have fun driving on good driving roads. I am like a child waiting for Santa as it looks like by Friday i can go play in an EV in the Snow instead of just going out in an ICE car.
  7. ?? Who are the are manufacturers that do not already have EV's or are ready to start producing and selling EV's? 2nd hand EV's are available now for under £10,000. The number available will rise greatly in the next year or 2 as more get to 3 or 4 years old and many will still have a valid manufacturers warranty and battery life warranty. http://electrek.co/2019/04/22/study-electric-cars-dirtier-diesel-debunked
  8. So good to see an enthusiast that can review, give details and film the cars perfectly.
  9. The Roomster & Fabia Service Books when they came with one did have the Alarm Siren as a Replacement item at 5 years. There are 10 year old or older cars still with the original though.
  10. If serviced to the Manufacturers Guidelines then the Pollen Filter might get changed, and a A/C service might get done. It all depends on who was running it and who was paying and was the car on a service plan etc. Skoda Approved Used cars are sourced from many places, fleet, lease, motability etc. As it is there was not much to be inspected with the Haldex (AWD) other than giving a visual inspection when on a ramp to see no leaks and a road test could only show if there were noises or a feeling of something not right. Fingers crossed that all is well and your ownership is a happy one.
  11. Contact Michelin UK in writing and see what they say. But really it is the place that you bought the tyres at and had them fitted that you should deal with first. The tyre needs inspected to see why there is an issue. Michelin promises to refund vehicle operators for accidental damage before a tyre is 50 percent worn. Or so i read. Maybe just Buses and HGV.s Wear and tear if the cars suspension alignment is out is not accidental damage. There is stuff about warranties from Michelin or from suppliers of Michelin tyres. I have 2 cars with Michelin CrossClimates on and have had them in the past, i also have Michelin Winter tyres on another. CrossClimates are not commonly having faults or issues. The rear end of Skoda Superbs are known for some having issues with tyres.
  12. ? How many miles has it done then, & is it on Fixed servicing at 9,400 miles / 372 days and due a service or was it on Variable so just a Service at 24 months / 18,000-20,000 miles? Did it get a Pollen Filter change at this service if on Variable Servicing? The Haldex Service will be due at 3 year old, as is the brake fluid change if you are having that done.
  13. @Gdcobra How many miles covered before you changed the wheels / tyres front to rear? Your cars rear suspension might well have the tyres mis-shaped. Was the place doing the balancing a Michelin dealer / Supplier? You need a reason to pursue a claim. So follow what Michelin will say about claims on a website. That will involve going to a Michelin Dealership to have the tyres inspected. That means them coming off the rims.
  14. I just linked it because a good thread for others to post in as the Sunroof Maintenance really applies across the models, especially for Skoda owners where issues are rather common.
  15. @Bluegrassviolin The V5 has the Registered Keeper, maybe VW Finance. Due to Covid maybe Skoda & Dealerships have bucked up their ideas because there are some terrible cars that members have received as Approved Used Cars. There are a few threads around the forum / in the General Automotive Chat Section. So do you have the Service History and any Warranty History for the car? http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/443226-skoda-approved-multi-point-check http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/408755-skoda-approved-used-car-nightmare http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/438846-approved-used-warranty-what-is-the-point http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/400826-approved-used-skoda-is-it-worth-it
  16. @Bluegrassviolin Welcome. You could well be right, so who was the Registered Keeper, where did you buy it, was it given the workshop checks there. Ask the Dealer Principal all the relevant questions, who, where, when and why, The checks are only Safety Checks and could well be carried out by anyone with a NVQ, Overalls & a pen or hand held device. Mis-selling or deception is serious and the Skoda Approved Dealers surely would not want caught doing that. (Well not more of them.)

  18. That is rather easy to check if you have a computer or smart phone. http://onlyrevo.com/dealer-locator
  19. @Gaz_If you get the change to watch the Drama Stonemouth that is a real mixture with the filming done at Macduff & that being near the Forth Bridges and then some of Macduff is Gourock.
  20. @Gaz_ i lived and grew up near Pennan where the phone box was. The Ship Inn is in Banff. The thing is the beach is on the West coast of Scotland at Camusdarach.
  21. I am just being smart or maybe not. High value cars come from manufacturers and they are the ones building in the security that is meant to stop them being stolen. They are doing a poor job in many cases even with the most expensive and desirable to thieves. Get a Lock for the OBD port, but a thief that knows their job will know how to get the car, and maybe they are coming in your house for the keys. Maybe fit a big yellow steering wheel locking device, or a wheel clamp. But then the myth is that they never bother breaking into homes with a Skoda in the drive.
  22. There should only be a warning for a Oil Service. The Inspection Service warnings at a different time / mileage were just stupid. There is no such thing as a 'Full Service' with Skoda / VW, they called them Major Services and maybe only Changed Oil & Filter and said other things not scheduled. So. Has your cars DSG not had an Oil change at 40,000 miles. If not that is due. £199 or so. Brake Fluid Change £60. Brake Inspection Free. Oil & Filter change needed, maybe Pollen Filter, the Air Filter needs checked, maybe replaced. You need to talk to a technician / master tech and not just the Service Desk person or Service Manager.
  23. Welcome. You have chosen well, they are not really wanting a Skoda, even a L&K Kodiaq. Then, leave nothing of value in it, insure it and do not fit a tracker. If they want it they will take it and really you do not want it back.
  24. @rkenny That is great, but he might be out on his backside before the month is out just like the last 3 Skoda bosses. Jumped before being pushed in some cases. Before being promoted into VW to be the fall guys. http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/industry/thomas-schafer-succeeds-bernhard-maier-skoda-boss http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/industry/skoda-boss-bernhard-maier-leave-firm http://skoda-storyboard.com/en/press-release/prof-dr-winfried-vahland-leaves-volkswagen-group
  25. @SkodaDean The Skoda system should know what servicing has been done in the past, so do you know? When was it done between 2016 and now. Oil changes each 10,000 miles and what else? What actually paid for to be done & done / replaced and shows on the Full Main Dealer Service History if there is one? (Cars on Variable / Flexible servicing might have had only one service at 2 years / 18,000-20,000 miles and be due a service now.) So, What has been changed in the past, was a pollen filter changed at 2 years. Was the brake fluid changed at 3 years. Are they going to do an Oil & Inspection Service now and the Extended Scope, and are they going to change a Fuel Filter, or Spark Plugs or Air Filter and do they need changing. You do not say what engine or gear box you have. A DSG can be due and oil change at 40,000 miles, if the car has Haldex that was due a oil change and filter clean at 3 years. This is the new Skoda Main Dealership menu for car 3-10 year old where the Minor / Interim service and Major Service has been done away with.
