Deja-vu... http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/347831-4x4-system http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/449575-4x4 http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/455165-kaqoq-4x4 http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/454682-snow-mode @CJJE There were traditional Land Rovers that were rear wheel drive and you had to select front wheel drive to get AWD / 4x4. (Still open diffs though.) And as it is those with Four Wheel Drive had a Central Diff to lock and not Locking diffs, the diffs were open unless you fitted Air Lockers, Detroit Lockers etc. Standard from the factory unless from the Special Division had no 'Diff Lockers'. That is Series Land Rovers and then Defenders from 1993 i mean, so Traditional 'Land Rovers'. My Jimny ran in permanent AWD and had Diff Lockers that could be used, my 110 was a Permanent 4x4 , Automatic, with High & Low on the transfer box bit actually could not lock the Diffs.
  2. What some say is. They are 80% worn and we advise replacing the discs and pads. Also an engine flush and a fuel injection treatment, and heavy air in the tyres and a enema without lubrication. 'Assume the position & brace yourself'.
  3. DSG's were never 'filled with the wrong oil'. It was just that it was found out pre 2012 which is over 8 years ago that there were issues with the Synthetic Oil that was used. It was 'the right oil' that they decided to use when developing the DQ200 DSG's. That resulted in a World Wide Recall and in Europe a Service Campaign to change oil in those DSG'. DQ200's 2009-2012. Since then there have been issueswith the need for changes in Software, but no 'Wrong Oil's' used. So Service Campaign '34F7' started in 2014 on DQ200's 2009-2012. & Service Campaign '34H5' which is a sofrware update on some from 2013-2016 which is after the oil changes at the factory. Other issues are just that, ones that occur, just as there are various wee issues that can occur on early Roomsters right up until production stopped. Maybe small in numbers as toi the vehicles getting them but still a possibility because Skoda / VW are never great fixing Snagging issues and as we know they pass them on to new models and the next generation of vehicles. They are not great with wiring looms. @edbostan Does your 2013 Roomster have a DSG and did it require '34H5'? http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-actions
  4. @AJAMESR A salesperson that gives a damn and that can be bothered to get you answers is who you need to speak with or a question in writing to Skoda Ireland might get an answer from people who's actual job is ordering and importing Skoda to Ireland. They might find out for you, and pigs might fly.
  5. I could easily imagine a clutch issue. & the VAQ does require servicing with these cars.
  6. Welcome. I would not be taking it to a Skoda Main Dealership & paying them crazy money. The issues seem to be with where your car was MOT'd and the tyres changed, they can not just pan you off unless you let them.... If you paid money then why let them off with things? In the 7 years you have owned it gave you never been to a VW Independent Specialist with the car? I would find one in your area and go to them. Someone with all the gear and more than an idea or excuses, they need licensed equipment and knowledge on it's correct use. As to Kwikfit, they can be a joke as you have discovered,
  7. @Eccles Your experience of stop / start not operating as you just posted is just that. Not how they work in my experience of various models. Stop start can operate from a cold start after reversing and stopping after a few feet if all is as it can be, ambient temp, interior temp setting, draw on the battery etc etc.
  8. The Skoda UK Fixed Price service and maintenance is not the Maximum they can charge. If not a Participating dealership they can charge less or charge more and some do.
  9. There never has been anything similar in how the gear changes are with a DQ200 DSG with a revvy 1.2, 1.4, 1.8 or 1.0TSI's from 70 ps - 192 ps and a TDI fitted to a DQ200 DSG be those 1.2, 1.4 or 1.6 TDI's. As for how the 1.5TDI seems in the review videos, they seem pretty poor.
  10. @Scot5 Leaving a DSG in 'N' does not damage a DSG, and there is absolutely no reason that it could damage a DSG or to presume it could. Sitting in traffic for a bit in 'N' without Stop / Start activated but a parking brake on and no foot brake / rear brake lights on is a rather common thing to do rather than selecting 'P'. Stopping and switching off if waiting say for a road to be cleared in 'N' with a parking brake applied and the car not in P is something plenty do when driving. I will park on the flat and stop an automatic or DSG in N & apply a parking brake until i let it off. maybe on a ramp, maybe on the ground, and push it forward or back and wash the wheels and maybe chock them and lift the car on jacks spin the wheels as i change them on stands, do the brakes etc and have done for 4 decades of working on autos. I have parked up vehicles with DSG's in winter without being in P and without the parking brake applied and the wheels chocked. So if nobody else does then that is there business but stopping in 'N' and starting again in 'N' has never been an issue mentioned anyplace before the post that i have ever seen. PITA if things change so you can not go into 'N' while stopped, or turn the engine off when in 'N' and especially where cars still have manual parking brakes. You should not have to go through reverse to get to N or to D if you do not want to. In other models with DSG's above -10*oC you can start in 'N' because you can stop and switch off in 'N'. I have not looked in a Kamiq Owners manual.
  11. If offered by the end of summer 2021 that would be a MY2022 car. Never understand the releasing of Maybia it will look like this and Maybesometime that look years ahead with Skoda feeding media stuff to get website / social media its.
  12. Actually i would need to be comparing them side by side on the same run and charging at Rapid Chargers and seeing what battery / charging tech actually is in comparison. & you would need a Zoe that Rapid Charges at 50 & 100 kWh to do that. Tech usually means stuff like Matrix Headlights, Lane Assist, Blind Spot warning and the Satnav type stuff.
  13. Sorry on the mistake with the year. No Dealership Employees should be doubting the oil used from the factory. The World Recall and European Service Campaign was 2012 and 2014. What does need confirmed is that since built from 2012/2013 does it become one that '34H5' was for. The preventative software update. They need to check that. http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-actions From 2017 until 2019 '34H5' never showed on here and then the Australian Recall started and then cars did come up as requiring the 'Recall Action.
  14. Has anyone any experience with using an INNO Tyre hold Cycle Carrier? I have ordered one as well as Aero bars to fit it to and this is to carry by light Carbon Frame Mountain Bike or other light bikes with, and for quick and easy carrying when it is not in the car. They are not in stock so i have time to cancel if not as good as i thought it might be, any input welcome thanks.
  15. There are TPI's (Technical Product Information) on the DQ200 because of Clutch Slip. Have a Dealership / Technician check on these if they are with Skoda in India.
  16. @Scot5 Where on a UK V5C does it show not only who the Registered Keeper is but also who the owner is? V5C's showing me as a Registered Keeper only show that and not who 'owns' the car.
  17. There are clutch slip issues known with the DQ200's from 2015 on. There are TPI's and a thread in the Fabia Mk3 section. 'The story of the famous DQ200 Clutch Slip'. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/439395-the-story-of-the-famous-dq200-clutch-slip
  18. Sounds like your car is like the cars reviewed by motoring journalists in those vids. All you can go is try another car or 3 the same as yours and see if it / they drives like yours. You have an Automated Manual gearbox so use in D or S or change in manual as the car and circumstances require, or leave in D if that is what you want.
  19. @PhilEyre No filter and it is not refill from below. No idea why you are looking at changing the oil in a 2016 DQ200 DSG that has done only 50,000 km /31,000 miles. Page 11. You fill find stuff on an Oil change. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/439395-the-story-of-the-famous-dq200-clutch-slip/page/11/ http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/439395-the-story=of-the-famous-dq200-clutch-slip The RECALL that @Expatman posted about was in 2012/13 on 2009-2012 DQ200 DSG's and was only a Service Campaign in Europe, not part of the world because VW are European and tell governments what is what. So Service Campaign '34F7' Changing oil and a software update. 2017 was another campaign started on some DQ200 DSG's from 2013-2015 and a Software update. 2015-2020 nothing, other than TPI's on the DQ200 DSG's for Clutches, and in Australia another 'Recall' from boxes from 2009-2016 started in 2019. That is the MCU issue again that the first Recall and the Service Campaigns should have had covered in Australia.
  20. It really sounds like Skoda turned out a car as good as they were able to and co-cked up a bit more than they tend to occasionally. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/444899-wiil-14-diesel-be-dropped A Euro 6 1.4 TDI 3 cylinder 90ps DQ200 DSG Mk3 Fabia drives perfectly well, changes gear as and when they should. The are discontinued because VW Group still could not get the water pumps / cooling right and as usual the 'Coolant' got blamed first rather than VW's recurring issue with being hopeless with water pumps and other parts.
  21. @lol-lol The Zoe certainly has more room and softer suspension than the e-Corsa & you do sit higher. The Autoexpress reviewer is one that never bothered to answer in the Youtube comments if he checked the tyre pressures of that Media Car before commenting on the ride. From the Youtube review i found the comment on discounting 'Sport Mode' because it would impact on range very strange. What does it matter if you are just out and about and doing nothing more than a 100 odd miles before charging again, use the car as you can in Sport if you want and you will be getting further than if in a MINI Electric. You do need to kick down in ECO to get 136ps because you are running with 80 ps or 110ps in Normal, Normal is what the WLTP is taken from. (Use Eco or Normal or even Sport and B and you can get the range that is claimed from the WLTP with the Zoe but A/C will need to be off.) I am curious as to what they think the tech is that is more advanced on the Zoe over the e-Corsa. PS Finally my own EV is First Registered today and getting a PDI. Done plenty miles in various borrowed EV's including the Zoe and the latest Zoe's R135 rapid charge. Happy with the choice i made of an EV warm hatch that was really not a necessity. This car on 17/45 R 17's and just a driver and 1,530 kg kerb weigh, (weigh them!) and no idea what the tyre pressures are at, maybe fully pumped up by people handing ove. Reviewers are not mentioning the SE Nav on 195/55 R 16's *ultra low rolling resistance tyres / crap grip) and might well ride differently, deal with potholes a bit better if you are not avoiding, and the range if you were to run the 2 vehicles in convoy are not identical. Roof bars and bike carrier ordered which will reduce range, and more so with a bike on the roof.
  22. Fair enough that it was a 'right off' many cars sold have been 'right offs', but what class of 'right off was it'? Very minor damage, even stolen recovered and requiring new keys etc can right off a car. Cat N or Cat S or another. ? So what class, what car, and what was it's value /purchase price, and are the Insurers OK insuring it. After all it is Insurance Companies / Underwriters that sell 'Write offs'.
  23. The tech was there ready to go in 2018 VW Golf GTE's and others but VW had to sort out issues with the 'Irregular / implausible C02 g/km results' with them from testing and defeat devices with the DSG (eDSG) / Drivetrain under testing as the being introduced WLTP /RDE would have caught them out. The have stuck with the 1.4TSI for the Plug in hybrid, got the DSG acting as they should with hybrids and they can have the GPS doing its things as needed. 2017, then taking orders was suspended and production of these stopped, and now the tech can be across the brands. VW, Skoda, SEAT & Audi and 1.0 & 1.5 Light Hybrids and 1.4 or 2.0 litre plug ins can have it. @9 minutes. The future was bright, it just got delayed for a bit..
