  1. Just as well he is not a judge, his observation skills are in question. Robert failed to mention that emission reduction in Dundee is so good because vehicles drive in reverse capturing what comes out their tailpipe in the vehicle and eventually killing the drivers & passengers. This eventually reduces the population and vehicle journeys.
  2. If you had it from new then your opinion might matter, as it is a Warranty manager needs to get involved. Get the decision in writing.
  3. Simply clever. Drive the car. Get in car, put on seatbelt, start car, put off what you do not want on, stop /start, lane assist, etc etc, put on what you want, lights, radio, rear screen, A/C, Heating, heated mirrors etc. Mirror, indicators, look back and e-brake or hand brake off, and off you go. While driving you can use wipers, heating / ac and indicators, brakes, lane assist, stop / start , information, entertainment as and when you wish.
  4. Welcome. The Tiptronic box did not have a Service Schedule / Guidelines for changing ATF. But that does not mean that the Gearbox Fluid can not be changed, some have spoken about doing it at 100,000 miles because there are plenty years and miles since VW Group started using them. Loads will be around that have never been touched. The horror stories on DQ200 DSG's might well be overblown as there are millions produced, and the World Wide Recall in 2012 which excluded Europe which got a Service Campaign starting in 2014. That was on 2009-2012 boxes to change the Oil from Synthetic to mineral and do a software update. Late 2012 boxes got nothing done, some of these have had issues. Then another Service Campaign in 2017 for 2013-2015 DQ200's, a Software Update. Then from 2014/2015 some have Clutch Slip problems and a TPI covers that. Then in Australia in 2019 a recall started on some 2011-2016 boxes. With the DQ 200 DSG on 1.5TSI's some have had software updates. But then Skoda do produce over 2,200 of those DQ200's a day. Then early 1.2 TSI from before 2012 might have timing chain issues. Long story short is, the 1.6 Petrol and tiptronic box seems to be pretty problem free over 13 years if the engine servicing is done.

  7. @JamesETheFirst Is this the cars 2nd MOT? It is the Warranty Underwriter of the Warranty with the Skoda Approved Car that has to say what or what is not covered and for them to pay. Why would it be Skoda that has to contribute, other than in an arrangement between them and the Warranty company that actually will be VW Group owned.
  8. Skoda Customer Services can call you back if you ask, and if the Dealership Employees / sales people that are back after furlough can not be bothered to do their actual job. There are Dealer Principals or acting ones at a branch to contact if sales staff are 'too busy' to bother with customers. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/479207-factory-closing See posts from 27th April. & a post from Thursday past so 16th June.
  9. They are supposed to disclosed 'known faults' or accident /repairs if asked about them. Nobody should sell a vehicle with 'Known faults' that may or does affects safety or mean a vehicle is not fit for purpose. (Never stopped some main dealers reselling cars that were rejected because of known and accepted faults without any remedial actions being taken, and that can be 'Approved used cars' from Skoda, Audi, VW or SEAT.)
  10. To me a Sally has always meant bursting forward.
  11. Welcome. Is this ordered at Skoda Specialist cars John Clark Motor Group? Just ask for the Build Week of your car to be confirmed.
  12. @Mickhill you could see the tyres better than you show in your pictures. A picture of the sidewall from the side would have helped. The tyre had done 35,000 miles you say. So did rather well for a lot of miles before maybe being run at to low a pressure or having had a hit. It is a month since you posted so lets see who that tyre on that side is after a bit more use. ? Has the tracking / camber / alignment been checked yet with the new tyres on, and adjusted if required?
  13. https://www.mrjww.com Just put the front reg plate up on the dash, nobody will care! https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/two-expensive-sports-cars-welsh-18615194 It will polish out.. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/porsche-911-crash-tonyrefail-teenager-18613571 'We' could maybe get some dust caps 'free' at a tyre and exhaust centre, (or buy some naff yellow ones to match the key fob.) and 'we' could maybe get the bird crap and dirt of the exhaust before 'we' have the car to a Porsche workshop so that 'we' can pay them to service it which is who do it and not actually 'we' or 'i' doing a hands turn. Then maybe read the Owners Manual & Reset the TPMS and get a valve cover on the back right!....'We' will be sorted then.
  14. Well you have known that for years now. They speak of Motorsport Success & Heritage and that was with small capacity petrol engines, and the use the 'Monte Carlo' name as a trim level, and turned out a 1.4TSI 125ps DSG Mk3 as a R5 tribute and yet produce just the 1.6 AWD R5's to sell to the chosen few @ over 100 grand for homologation just the same reason as the S1 & Polo R's were produced.
  15. What is not to like? You could have bought 265,280,290 or 300 ps + Leons or Golfs, or a AWD S1 Audi you just needed to splash the cash. The RRP of a Mk2 Fabia vRS just happened to be lower then the Polo, Ibiza & A1 twinchargers in 2010-2014 & near half the price. Just sign the credit agreement and you can have the Toyota.
  16. But then they did put the 1.8TSI 192ps / 250 Nm with the DQ200 DSG & 320Nm into the Polo GTI as the Mk2 Fabia came to end of life, and then dropped that and went 2.0TSI, so the Fabia MK3 owners were the ones that got landed with 110ps max from the factory. They are there to buy if anyone wants them.
  17. ^^^ Pre Face Lift Mk2 Fabia.

The 'French Mechanic' seemed to be making a bit of a generalisation given the many different types / compounds etc of those 3 brands. Maybe he / she was specifically talking about Superb's and tyres, but then there is Sawtoothing issues with some models which are a well known issue. The rear alignment and the issues caused by it with any tyres. Then you have AWD's with problems with tyres. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/482452-excessive-tyre-wear-4x4 PS French mechanic reckons French & Spanish made tyres might be a better choice than German ones shocker!
  19. Skoda fixed price Servicing and maintenance has 'the first 30 minutes of a diagnosis costing £60.' Many will tell you you are going to be £99 for an hour, some more than that.
  20. Taking into account the rubbish standard Mk2 vRS suspension, rear axle and brakes you might as well do it properly and put in a good petrol engine and haldex. & have an AWD. So a Mk2 vRS being sold for Spares or Repair of which there are a few with gubbed 1.4TSI's / DSG's, and find a VW donor car of your choice.

  22. For those needing a quick protection on paint or wheel damage 'Clear nail varnish' is dead handy. Much cheapness and available nearly everyplace. Same if you want a quick touch up of paint chips until you deal with them. Go to the nail varnish display and likely there is a near match there for much cheapness. My tool box (make up bag) has a large assortment of colours and shades back fro when the £1 shops would have 3 colours in a pack. Black's and Greys particularly handy.
  23. It is only a few years back that they all showed the width to the outside of tyres / rims. As an important measurement for getting between places with kerbs like when entering parking place without raised kerbs and not suitable for rather big / wide vehicles. Then the distance between the inside rims was important and still is. As is the widest body excluding wing mirors. The easy thing for anyone wanting to check their cars track and the 'Official figures' is get out the tape measure. Check what you have.
