  1. I am taking the External and Internal Pressure Testing with a pinch of salt, or a glug of vodka to inhibit the freezing of the liquid. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/480877-are-there-min-and-max-marks-on-screenwash-filler
  2. ^^^ For the MK2 when on Fixed Servicing so sets at 9,400 miles / 372 days. Not how it is if the car is set on Variable / Flexible servicing.
  3. @geochr You could pop into Tesco or Asda and there will be 5w 30 Full Synthetic to VW 504 / 507 sitting and quite possibly reduced, or 5w 40 Full Synthetic to VW 502. If you are going to service annually or at 10,000 miles or under. Loads of choice about of oil for 'much cheapness'. & D & A Motor Factors or Dingbro for your consumables. Support your local businesses. But then using 'Multi Nationals' is OK if the price is right.
  4. There are plenty Traders with nice cars that they are not that bothered if they sell but since they are a business they have to advertise and show as for sale and if some crazy mug is prepared to pay over the odds then they will sell to the person thinking they are getting a collectable classic.
  5. Guest_ replied to gotomuzzi's topic in Skoda Yeti
@gotomuzzi Welcome to the forum. ? Who is selling it? & where does the service record show as being done? If @ Victoria Garage Maud then great, if Skoda Specialist Cars John Clark Group or Arnold Clark then check check check what was done The haldex should have been serviced, so you want to see an invoice / receipt that it was at 3 years / 30,000 miles or so or be prepared to do it because a FMDSH needs to show it as done as not all owners get told it is needed and they need to pay over and above minor or major services. The brake fluid should have been changed by now and is schedule for a 2nd time, has that been done. Budget for that as well. I have never particularly noticed the North Easts roads and salting having an adverse affect on vehicle in the way of rust on the body or underneath as people in the North East pay more attention in general to cars prep pre and post winters.
  6. The Mechanic or technician needs to tell you what is needed and not just 'replace the rear diff'. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/447657-rear-differential-destroyed-help-please
  7. @JakeByrd Is it a VW Independent telling you this, if so they need to be telling you what you need and why and not be vague about it. What have they done so far diagnosing this? Who is doing the work? http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/481817-when-accelerator-pedal-is-engaged
  8. The 'Winter Tyres fitted warning' is for the countries where if Winter Tyres are fitted you need a sticker to warn drivers of the Max Speed or a warning on the car. Nothing to do with TPMS.
  9. VW Group Main Dealers and Approved Repairers are required to apply The Fix to vehicles they get through there hands in the way of trade in's. Not as some have done and carry it out on cars other people own without asking them or even when told not to. Funnily there are customers that ask about 'The Fix' for some 1.2 TDI's and 1.6TDI's that are ones that VW say should have or could have are told there is nothing required.
  10. The setting the car has for Winter Tyres does not have anything to do with the TPMS, it is to set a Speed Warning at what ever speed you want because winter tyres are fitted.
  11. Odd one here. He was driving in ECO so with 80ps equivalent or so unless the accelerator is floored so they will feel sedate. or actually dead slow and heavy. If in Normal he would have had 110ps eqivalent and 136ps in Sport.
  12. There are various common things. There are posts on here on each and every one. One was the rear door latch which got work on early cars and some people just put some insulating tape on. Likely not your issue. The rear seat catches can be a PITA. Fold the seats down and see if the issue is still there. Take the spare wheel and stuff out. The Hand brake cable can be noisy. The rear suspension can creak as you might well notice with the handbrake on as you get out of the car.
  13. @geochr ? What servicing has the car had, is there any record? A new £2 sump plug. Or maybe 'suck' out the oil with a pump and do not change the sump plug, or change after the oil is out. The Pollen filter is a every 2nd year thing. Or check it, vacuum it, clean the area and refit. But they are cheep. Air filter is a 4 year / 40,000 mile thing, or check it, see if clean. But that are cheep, Spark Plugs are a 4 year / 40,000 mile thing. Not that expensive. Fuel filter might well be worth replacing at 6 years old. Brake fluid change was scheduled for 2017 and then 2019. Has it had the brake fluid changed ever, or checked for H20 content? Brakes could do with servicing, have the rear drums ever been off? Wiper Blades, Tyres etc etc checked before MOT.
  14. https://www.money.cnn.com/2018/05/08/investing/audi-diesel-emissions-investigation/index.html https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/industry/audi-hit-£700-million-fine-diesel-emissions-scandal The Defeat Device in the USA involved TDI's with SCR because they were ensuring that bigger tanks were not required for AdBlue. It goes right back to when Stefan Jacoby was the Head of VW USA and introduction Green Diesels. He was at first with VW, then where he was before going back to VW, then huffing off to Geely / Volvo to head it before going to GM and now being 'Independent' as a Industry Consultant. How the web is spun.
  15. @OldBoyScout In the UK VW Group vehicles started getting retested as they were imported from 2016 and right up to now. VW Group did cheat with C02. Some deliveries were cancelled, some cars were bought back. some were withdrawn from sale and some got new C02 g/km figures. They were at it still and because of people not paying attention it kind of went under the radar. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/industry/vw-emissions-scandal-nine-vw-vehicles-have-false-co2-ratings https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/industry/vw-emissions-scandal-audi-and-seat-deny-co2-cover https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/industry/volkswagen-updates-carbon-dioxide-emissions-ratings Cheating, Only they claimed it was errors, and then it was just VW, Audi & SEAT, as Skoda managed to correctly have their tests carried out. It was Petrols & Diesels and Euro 6 after the Euro 5 Defeat Device meant that tests were done. VW Group never knew how many to admit to so they picked a high number and then went all vague. After VW revealed which they 'cheated' then Audi and SEAT did it individually. Then Audi got caught again after this with bigger Diesel Engines, and actually Defeat Devices and DSGs. @J.R. Dr. Martin Winterkorn was and is an Engineers Engineer along with his yes men / women, finger on the pulse and even down to getting the tape measure out at a motor show to see what Hyundai had done. So VW's Software provider gave them what they wanted but told them this could not be used, but supplied it anyway and then paid the fines. So many Whistle Blowers are allowed to walk away or pay a penalty and carry on as they were.
  16. @Axle_of_weasels The tyres, summer, winter, snow, wet weather, all season, all weather, all terrain, Mud & Snow / M&S and 3 peak has been discussed often enough and the meaning and crossover gets lost in the translations. Then there are the CrossClimates that are Summers and 3 peak certified and really have no downside. Now i have them on all year unless something more serious needs to go on in 'Winter'. What arrives in the UK on cars even as All Seasons on SUV's and pretty much rubbish even just considered as summers in parts of the UK in rain & some are garbage come a winter and wintery weather / temperatures.. The Michelin that PSA have on the Peugeot, Vauxhall / Opel & DS EV's are not ECO in price if you needed to replace them, they are energy saving (to give better range) by having less friction / grip / road holding. 205/45 R 17, the cheaper models come with 16" 195's and the DS3 comes with 215 18's This will be why journalists got to drive Media cars with Pilot Sports fitted. The tyres they arrive on are utter crap. Luckily i get 'much cheapness' fitting Michelin's, CrossClimate, Alpins etc. Something more suitable will need fitting for winter, and might as well be on in summer.
  17. I have never heard of owners offering to pay back anything they saved with the low VED's or from saving on fuel because they got good economy.
  18. My 2016 2.0TDI SCR DSG Alhambra could when not in 'Coasting' mode drop to 5th if not on the accelerator or brake on long steep down slopes, or i could just manually change to 4th but it did not like that if you were not touching the brake pedal. 3rd would have been far far too low gear.
  19. @Enolan Did you have the DSG oil changed before the 65,000 km that it was due a change at? ? Did you never try another 2.0TDI with a 6 speed DSG to see how that behaved? It should never have been dropping to 3rd unless on a very steep decline.
  20. Welcome to the forum. No idea sorry. ? How many km has your car done?
  21. @Gyp Maybe not less than some maybe got that traded in a Euro 5 1.8TSI or a pre Chain Tensioner upgrade 1.2TSI that VW Group produced and never did any recalls on or apologies to those that ended up with them and needed to get engine rebuilds or replacements from money out of their own pockets.
  22. He should have made the difference from England & Wales and Greenlanes and Scotland & Vehicular Right of Ways, not Greenlanes.
