July 2019 Karoq 1.5 SEL DSG - DSG very occasional whirring/whine in 1st
@smipx I said that Dealership Employees and Skoda Employees have been saying that the 'Incorrect Oil will invalidate a warranty'. The reason i posted that is because they have been doing, while recommending the wrong oil too many times. I was just pointing this out. In the past weeks members have been given a bum steer by asking on a live chat with some person that supposedly deals with Skoda enquiries.

It is OK to use, but it is not a good practice to mix specs, you can in an emergency or maybe as you have done before a Service. But then Demonstrators / Ex Management car are often run until a warning light shows then the 'Professional sales person or technician might add oil'. Maybe even the VW 504, so maybe in March that was added. Running oil at lower levels / quantities means that oil is harder used, maybe 1/4 low from the correct quantity and then gets lower quicker. It is all basic stuff. A car should leave the service with the correct quantity of oil, and just because a fitter or tech says they did, the dipstick of truth needs used when 'At normal operating temperature', not when a car has sat idling for a few minutes. The VW508/509 was used to get lower emission figures for the WLTP that VW Group needed..

Be sure and check if they will be putting in 0w 20 FS IV so to VW508. ? Is that what you have used to top up with? It is Skoda Dealership Employees and Customer Services that are saying the the use of VW504 could invalidate a warranty claim. That is a nonsense, and plenty Dealerships have been using 5w 30 FS III and recently some seemingly using 0w 30 FS III, neither of which are now the recommended spec by Skoda / VW.

Peugeot e-208 Videos, Real World Range. Launches LHD in sunny places where there is free bed and board then driven in the UK.
Again Matt says a company gave a 0-60 mph figure when they actually gave a 0-62mph / 100kph figure then he goes showing a 0-60 time. But he has done the same for years now. (PSA did give a 0-60mph for the e-208 & e-Corsa originally and that was 7.6 seconds, but that was knocked on the head. Amazing how slow the extra 2 mph can be to get to...)

Rear camera - can I change to turn it on when I want?
I am a cyclist, but cyclists up my chuff when driving vehicles can be a PITA. Rear cameras are good, but then so is a better windscreen washer pump, or the rear jet readjusted to fire back just a little.

Who or what is the biggest threat to SKODA?
Mk3 Fabia came out in 2014 and were getting to owners late 2014 to early 2015. The Fabia started in 1999, then the Mk2 in 2007, and went to 2014 with facelifts, so the all new 3rd generation Fabia was about the 5th version. So, coming up for 6 years of the mk3 and look in that section and the kind of reported faults are now appearing much the same as they did with the Mk2, Looms of Doom type issues. Gearbox issues and the likes. Look at the Karoq section and people having problems opening fuel filler flaps. It is like Skoda never actually understood 'Vorsprung Durch Technik'. Lets hope with Mild Hybrids, Plug in Hybrids and EV's they finally put the kind of faults that go from generation to generation and new model after new model are finally addressed. Skoda did discontinue the Euro 6 1.2TSI pretty quick after its introduction and went 1.0 TSI and then 1.0TSI with GPF. Only time tells with any VW Group engine developments and evolution. Vorsprung durch technik. Drop them and fingers crossed the same old will not get carried over to the next lot. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/468348-fuel-leak

^^^ Regular servicing at a non VW Group approved or establishment with licensed equipment can mean that TPI's from VW / Skoda are 'not seen' by technicians / mechanics. Even where cars from 2009-2012 were at main dealers the cars owners might not have been made aware of the potential issues with the faulty designed or manufactured OEM parts. There was a known issue, as in known by VW Group with early Euro 5 1.2 TSI to late 2011 when a TPI was issued and uprated chain tensioner kits available, The issue with these that might fail and should be replaced if the originals. There are vehicles still running the original parts and even ones still failing. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/435977-timing-chain http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/344005-12tsi-cam-chain-problem http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/344005-12tsi-vam-chain-problem/page/8/ See this link in page 8 of the link above.- New Karoq - question on some issues
Their Warranty Manager or someone with a bit of knowledge at the dealership will have a paint thickness measuring device and maybe even know what thickness they are checking for with to the 'Factory Spec'. It is all basic stuff, because obviously not all are 'how this one is'.- EV your choice £40k to £90k
Maybe time to get over the 20" wheels & the talk of price of replacements if you are only ever going to drive a loan car empty and trying to get 300 miles out of a charge around town.... Get a push bike with 29" wheels or maybe 20" on a folding bike.- Video Suzuki Jimny vs Land Rover Defender.
The asking price for the 5 new and nearly new Jimny Autos on Autotrader is up above £25,000 and people have paid that sort of price, the thing is that if anyone does really want them they are there to be bought. Only time will tell how many owners of ones now will have them for keepers for a decade or 2.- Video Suzuki Jimny vs Land Rover Defender.
The point is that they fit, and so can whatever Suzuki wanted to really, space is not an issue. With the last generation Jimny's i had one with a 1.4 Yaris Engine and another with a 1.5 Ignis. At one point it had a 2.0 litre Vauxhall Carlton auto fitted. The commercial Jimny with a 1.5 diesel was available in Irish Republic but sadly not in the UK.- Video Suzuki Jimny vs Land Rover Defender.
The 'Mild Hybrid / Smart Hybrid Vehicle' is available with the Ignis & also AWD, just not that and an Automatic all in the same vehicle. The decision not to have this with the Jimny is purely Suzuki's, or Toyotas, or whoever are actually in charge.- Another DSG recall today (sorry if already posted)
@MotardFeio The person that phoned you should have been able to tell you that if they work for a Skoda Dealership / Skoda / VW or some partner. If not then they have no right calling you. Get it in writting from them. If a voluntary 'Recall Action', then it is up to you if you ignore or not.- How to find a suitable car battery for my vehicle
Welcome to the forum. Using the cars registration number with a Motor Factor, Parts Supplier etc usually will help, but you have done that. Saying what car, age, engine you have on here might have someone help with what battery you need, and help a mod move your post to the relevant section. Looking at the battery on the car now and taking note of the numbers will help. Sending a picture of the battery to your cousin might have helped if they never looked at the car.- Kodiaq 190 ps 2020 ECU Remap

https://www.viezu.com/meet-the-team They seem to get some good 'big up's' from customers. Maybe they do special jobs for JLR on vehicles for VIP's etc. Special rates for special people.- Kodiaq 190 ps 2020 ECU Remap
https://www.viezu.com Their IT / Site is a bit crap. I put in 4 vehicle registration numbers and not one was recognised. I am pretty certain that The Queen was not researching having the Bentley, Range Rover and Philips Stock Car remapped and used them personally and thought lets give them an award. (He maybe used them for services to the heir to the crown....) Someone will have told her that she was going to be giving them an award. After all she made Iain Duncan-Smith a title and what a useless human being he is. PS, She asked Boris to form a government and sadly that never came with a 30 day return to as was in the small print.- fabia 1.2tdi fan
Sounds like normal behaviour, as doing the job it should. ? Did your car get 'The Emissions Fix' carried out? http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-actions- 1.8TSI and 2.0TSI engine failures
Simple really, the UK may not get the engines that other World Regions / Countries get, and in this case 1.8TSI's in MK3 Superbs, or Mk3 Octavias.- what is correct grade of oil
? Is there no sticker under the bonnet in the engine compartment? So from the factory they have VW508/509, (since before the WLTP/ RDE was introduced, this is what VW Group changed to.) so that is 0w 20 FS IV. Then Simples. At a service you could then use the VW 508/509. Or maybe go to VW 504/507 so 5w 30 FS III, So Full Synthetic / Long Life if your car is a keeper. This can be used for fixed servicing or variable flexible with TSI's. & VW502, so 5w 40 FS can be used for Fixed Servicing, 10,000 miles / 372 days or less between Oil & Filter changes.- Seat El- Born / ID3 variant
Not a SEAT El-Born, this is the CUPRA el-Born !- Cupra FORMENTOR !!!??? (Spain / Spanish.)
The EV from Cupra.- Kodiaq 190 ps 2020 ECU Remap
Usually the ECU's are not locked, but on occasions the VW Group / Skoda have locked ECU's and for the latest WLTP / & RDE2 certification they might well have locked ECU's. Tom Jones sang about it. 'It is not unusual'. So the professionals that do new engine management / write maps and re-map vehicles will be the first that may find out as they get their hands on a vehicle to remap. It took nearly 2 years before the 'well established companies like APR / REVO and others' could actually have a remap for the CTHE 1.4TSI / TFSI that could be done through the OBD, even though they were advertising that they could. There were APR Dealerships even opening ECU's and not able to remap. The CAVE engine before from 2009-2012 had different ECU's and of the 3 you had to open 2 of them to unlock & remap.- July 2019 Karoq 1.5 SEL DSG - DSG very occasional whirring/whine in 1st
