  1. Front Fog lights or Auxiliary lights are not checked at UK MOT,s, but as it is that is 32- years away for you. Fitting a LED Light bar without it being obvious when not lit is a simple solution to lighting up the way in front and switching on when required even when Full Beam is being used.
  2. I have read that, Ai generated when asking on Google. It should be a Legal Requirement on Old Folks vehicles, and young and everyones. That can happen as built in on all New Type Approved cars very easily. Happy days. Automatic Speeding Fines and restrict those with eyesight problems from driving in the dark. Charge per mile as well according to roads used and peak or off peak times.
  3. ^^^ That would hardly be relevant to the top 1/4 or more of the UK mainland where there are no Motorways then. Penalising Northerners and Islanders and people that are young and not wanting to travel between cities, newer drivers who never even had to drive on a Motorway before getting a driving licence.
  4. @Graham Butcher If really was that much Lost Revenue. They are taxing the Oil & Gas providers on UK waters, and as it is the Refining in the UK is going. The Fuel security is not secure. It might not be 50 pence or more in every £1.00 of fuel but it is 20% VAT on what will be a lot of Electricity that is required seeing as EV,s are not efficiently using the electricity. It is way more expensive to charge EV,s but that is not a concern of Company Vehicles users or operators, they get the VAT back be it liquid fuel or electricity.
  5. ^^^ Except a FAST charger is 7 or 11 kW AC. A Rapid 50 kW DC and we are at Ultra Rapid over 50 kW DC charging, sort of 100-150 and up to 350 kW. It was them that are Motoring Journalists that used those terms for years. & 100 kWh of charging say with a Tesla Super Charger /Ultra Rapid @ 60 pence a kWh is £60.00 & at worst maybe 350 miles. so £120 for 700 miles.
  6. Perfect. A run around that comes with a warranty and might be bought new or hardly used. Simples, try before you buy and do not bother about what those say that have not tried one or want one. He does talk some garbage but he out did himself if he means get the Spring at that price at Arnold Clark. When were they ever a reputable dealer? 'Having a good reputation' (Oxford Dictionary.) There are and will be people getting exactly cars like that for their 'teenage children', a new car, even though it might still be near to £2,000 a year to insure.
  7. Dr. Andy Palmer.
  8. ^^^ It is what it is. There are no captains of industry here are there or CEO,s of Multi Nationals, Leaders of countries that are going to be changing anything are there? ................. Not sure if he is just not happy that he is not more successful than he is, or better off than he is because he is not in the selling EV business. Just a car salesperson & now a vlogger with all the scores on the doors. Or maybe just too honest to sell vehicles that will not suit the buyers who is too stupid to know what they want and that they will lose money on. Even if they get them cheap can charge cheaply and are keeping them so depreciation does not affect them. *& Will not be buying another car from him because he will be retired car trader before they want another.*
  9. This is quite a song and dance about FOG LIGHTS from someone that does not often encounter FOG but seems to want more lighting up than the Full Beam can give when it is really really dark like you get in the West Midlands region of England. Well known for the Green Lanes and Off Road Routes. PS. Insurance Assessors and Loss Adjusters and Vehicles Examiners do not treat a fender bender in the same way as an accident where there is loss of life of life changing injuries & possible millions of quids compensation claims. Maybe not from motorists but the Family of a pedestrian or cyclist. Priority there might be looking for performance mods, tyres and maintenance and any thing gleaned from the ECU / Sat Nav etc. & not the lights, unless there is some question over dazzling others be them drivers or just road / pavement users.
  10. Squeezy / Detergent / Washing up liquid in water works as an anti fog as well to help on the glass inside. Like we might have used on our swimming goggles when young and there was nothing else. Well other than spitting, but you need a lot of spit for a windscreen.
  11. ASR / Anti Slip Regulation is AKA Traction Control(TC) ESC is Electronic Stability Control, & Off is not the ESP but the ASR / TC. But then VW Group use letters like Alphabet Spaghetti.
  12. Yes i know that. & the very nice perk for using off-peak is fantastic, but maybe there should be a tax on that of not 5% but 50% and that can go to the Public Charging network. Instead of 7 pence a kWh lets say, that is 10 Pence, or maybe just go 100 % and make it 14 pence a kWh. After all you still get your 100 kWh for £14 to then get maybe 350 miles - 400. There are those getting paid nice mileage rates and pocketing a tidy sum having charged at home cheaply. PS Many that use company cars or are companies are not paying from their pocket to have an EV charger installed to charge the Company car. Or the other EV,s in the household.
  13. Someone will help, but looking at the various threads there are over the years can pass the time til they do.
  14. New nozzles are cheap. To replaced the clogged up ones. The officially recommended Windscreen wash from VW Group and the tears of virgins is not cheap,
  15. IMO, We as in everyone paying full tariff rates for electricity in their properties that do not have Smart Meters or Off-Peak tariffs or EV,s to charge cheap, or free are being ripped off. We who can get Off-peak rates and ev / PHEV charging or any other usage for under 10 pence a kWh should be well please.
  16. Take the AI generated answers on Google with a pinch of salt. But is what the answer it gives to the search. Simples. If you have a car and no STOP / START OFF button then likely does not have Stop / Start.
  17. Looking forward to hearing from them & assisting you with what they found out by asking those who,s job is remapping vehicles.
  18. Someone knew what they were doing. All good.
  19. Sounds good. Timing chain and water pump done and 2 belts. The Supercharger clutch is part of the water pump. Just a case of using good Spark Plugs then & i recommend DENSO, & not Long Life Oil, even in Australia. so not the VW 504 00 / 507 00, 5w 30 FS III, but 5w 40 FS, so VW502 00. (Change this on a fixed service regime, 12 months, 9,400 miles or sooner.) & 98 ron Super Unleaded if you can get it. The 3.6 litres oil is not enough, that should always have been 3.9 litres with a Twin Charger. I used to put in 4 litres at oil and filter changes and that was the correct level checked with hot oil. @ the top of the Cross Hatch area on the dipstick. (The issue with 3.6 litres and then the Low oil warning light not on until sometimes 1.3 litres low was the death of many twinchargers.)
  20. The Engine is either a CAVE 2010-2012, or a CTHE from late 2012 to 2014/15. They are not all going to have had issues. The CTHE one that needed watching for was / is the timing chain & tensioner. Along with the usual watching for the one plug that can burn out even with the CTHE engine. If the car runs OK then that is all that is needed.
