Charging ever bigger batteries
The South of the UK gets cold and the whole of the UK must pay up because they need the heating turned up. Would it have cost any less to be firing up Coal Fired Power Stations, if there were still any?

Charging ever bigger batteries
The electricity is not even being generated where and when it can be because the National Grid is not taking it so paying not to generate. The batteries are so it can be stored, like the Pumped Storage is. Those Coal Fired Power stations were being paid to be on standby. The contracted prices being paid were ridiculous.

Damn shame that in Scotland & Wales the tariffs have to be anything to do with what it costs to buy in for England. http://gridwatch.co.uk

the truth about electric cars
That would be because the price they were and not 1/2 those with a home or even half with vehicles have Driveways or offroad parking & the public charging is expensive. They certainly were heading off the boats and out of the factories and going to Fleets and Business users and various agencies and local authorities. But they are getting deals.

the truth about electric cars
Which ICE only vehicles on sale now or coming out that will mean real world getting improved efficiency & lower emissions ?, so other than those using mild hybrid technology. VW have managed some pretty good diesels as far as low fuel use in the past year.

Approved used - "free" MOT?
^^^ They mean 'Their Certificate.' Voucher.,. Like you get from ARNOLD CLARK when they give a Service & MOT deal for Free with Used cars. Proof of Purchase Certificate. There must be members hear that bought Skoda Approved and the 2 year offer with PCP, and can say about the 'Certificate' they received.

No, plenty electricity and just The National Grid can not cope with getting what is available from the North across the border to England. They rather pay to have it bought from abroad. The Coal had to come from abroad anyway. There is Hydro, Gas & oil burning and Diesel Farms on standby. Then the UK Government Dithered about getting the Nuclear built as some decommissioned and others have their life extended. They knew well they were not getting new Nuclear in Scotland. Unless a Tory Government in Scotland and that is never happening. They had a ban on Wind Turbines in England. Obviously why spoil views in England while you can burn coal or wood pellets. Imported. So too slow with Battery Storage and the UK Government have rather had a reliance on overseas energy than taking electricity from Scotland. Now they have too. PS Not enough storage capacity for gas in the UK, just another UK Government decision.

Nothing like a Sovereign Wealth Fund as with Qatar or Norway for the UK. No Nationalised Energy Companies (GB Energy will not be one.) BP, well not British just like many other Energy Companies, The National Grid is nothing like a British Grid but Britain will put Billions into have the energy transmitted in the UK and out of it. It is a Global Market and trading and what is as sure as night and day is the the British Isles will allow any resources it has to leave the 4 countries and cheaper than it buys back.- DSG mechatronic failure .... UK parts pricing surprise!
It is not something i would do as a preventative measurement to get another MCU. Talk to the Automatic Gearbox Specialist. What can he do to the MCU to guarantee longevity?- Reduced performance before service
Tell us then about the Service please.. ? Is it more than an Oil & Filter change, is is Spark Plugs, Air Filter, Brakes Serviced, Tyre Pressures adjusted or increased? ? When was the last service, how many miles / km previously etc etc . ? Did someone add a Feul Treatment or Additive or just give it an Italian Tune Up Road test?- the truth about electric cars
Money from Us going to them to employ the like of us and plenty still going away out of the UK economy. We pay so much to other nationalities to have employment in the UK. We pay it to those that do not even need it as they can make plenty profits without receiving the hand outs. Energy Security, sell licences and then say that you are stopping productions of oil and gas in the North Sea. Or not. Pension Funds and Banks are supporting the Fossil Fuel Industry while the PEOPLE who's money it is are also paying to support getting to Net Zero.- Want to buy estate Octavia
Stick a Car Wanted ad on Briskoda and see if you get any replies from a Member or A.N. Other selling something if there is nothing suitable advertised. For Sale. Looks a bargain even though over 100,000 miles.- 2018 vrs tdi low mpg in cold Grill covers
@stig1 Just being nosy but how far is that run to work and how many miles do you do before the oil shows at 50*oC and gets to showing 92*oC or there about?- Superb III facelift TA
Lane Keep Assist does not function below 60 km/h (38 mph) so no need showing lanes,- Fabia 2010 - fault codes 16725 and 17548
Just out of interest what engine is this?- Frozen Handbrake?
Millions of drivers over the past century i would imaging, even that many just along the Moray firth. That is why they learn to leave the parking / hand brake off, and now e-Brakes, Use P with an Automatic or DSG, and leave in gear with a manual and choke the wheels. Vorsprung Durch Technik forgotten with European & other car manufacturers. It amazesme how VW Group / Skoda never managed to have fuel filler flaps that do not freeze in the likes of the UK.- the truth about electric cars
There is still a 5 pence a litre reduction in some Postcode areas and these are not just in Scotland. There is very much Tax Breaks for North Sea oil & Gas extraction then the supposed high taxing of the Oil & Gas Profits. THE UK GOVERNMENT DO NOT DIRECTLY SUBSIDIZE FOSSIL FUEL EXPLORATION. But they manage to give over £16 billion in 2022. £20 Billion in 2023. Anyway INEOS will do as it wishes with Grangemouth and it will just be a Depot receiving oil and fuels imported. They will do what the want with the Forties Pipeline. Scotland needs to get Fuel Security sorted and get the new Battery Storage Plants built before EDF close the Nuclear down at Torness and Peterhead Gas fired station closes if the new plant is not getting built, or the Carbon Capture come to pass an they get it at Peterhead. IMPORTANT. These can power all Scotland's home for *2 hours* from the stored electricity. So another 11 and sorted. Well obviously when enough electricity is generated to store in the batteries, but Scotland is near there and exporting and occasionally importing & paying a high price to those not to generate electricity. It takes a lot of Electricity produced from Oil & Gas to run the Grangemouth Refinery and Cracking plant and every other one, and lots of industrial sites.- Do Skoda have a small (Fabia) Hybrid ready to go yet?
For a smaller petrol hybrid that can give quite amazing economy and a spirited drive it is worth taking out a Renault Clio. Or there is the Renault Capture. @lol-lol can tell you all about driving the Clio and good or bad points.- Opinions on PHEV Octavia Please
If you go by VW Group / Skoda service Recommendations on a PHEV which is Fixed Servicing at 12 months / 9,400 miles then you are not going to be cheaper than a non PHEV on Variable / Flexible servicing. You need to decide if you will have the Oil & Filter changed every year, or go by miles the engine fires up, are you checking spark plugs and changing when needed and not just because the car has travel 40,000 miles or 4 years has passed. eg http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/529258-spark-plug-replacement/replacementtyre-sealant- DSG mechatronic failure .... UK parts pricing surprise!
Wet Clutch DSG,s do have the same oil in the box and MCU unlike the DQ200,s with 2 oils. As to earlier DQ381 failures, there are plenty very new and low mile / km ones with MCU failures. It very much is a lottery. Just a lottery with nobody overseeing VW Group. Maybe the Lemon Law in Australia is what will have them admitting fundamental design, manufacturing or material faults and even the failure rate Globally or by factory manufacturing components- Tyre check indicator
An overheating brake or bearing making the tyre increase in circumference is a difficult one to diagnose. The way to do is in the simplest way, stop ASAP when safe and feel for a hotter wheel / hub area or use a digital thermometer. With cars with the system that shows pressure and heat of the different wheels / tyres you easily see when there is a simply issue like Brakes / Bearing.- the truth about electric cars
I am listening to Scotland's First Minister Questions and the FM has just spoken about CCTV and local authorities and Hikvision cameras. Removed from the Government Estate and by some councils but not all. So while they are worried about China and Data, Security, Privacy the Government, Councillors and others are using vehicles with the technology to track them, even see them in vehicles. I wonder if King Charles and Prince William's Audi EV,s have been made secure from any ability to track them other than by their own security teams. Software of the cars modified so that others can not take control of cars, disable them and lock the occupants in.- the truth about electric cars
Pay the vehicles VED, have it insured and road legal, mot passed the keeper receives a SIM card / Chip and put into the vehicle and then it can operate on the roads and maybe offroad. The Info can be for the vehicle and for insured drivers from their DRIVING LICENCE. Dead simple system. Tax evaders or those not paying fines could have their details used to suspend them from using a vehicle. Bar code / QR code at the fuel filler or charge port and you need to use your all in one UK National ID card / driving licence / NI / passport / leave to stay etc, to activate the pump / charger. - the truth about electric cars
