  1. Unreal how some can not see the issue. Those that can not charge at home is the point of things. The Social Divide affecting the take up of EV,s as well as Private Motorists compared to Commercial, Fleet, paid to drive as part of the job and not paying for fuel or electric.
  2. ^^^ Lots of tosh right there. Lots of chargers with prices of 75-89 pence a kWh are nothing to do with MOTORWAYS, there are no Motorways North of Perth in the UK, plenty high cost chargers in Cities or Towns. There are people that BUY used cars, not PCP or on the Never Never, but they might buy to keep so the high depreciation is very very welcome. Yes there are subscriptions, offers, discounts if those are for Chargers you are going to be using and in the area where you live or travel in.
  3. Thanks. It was the 5w 40 FS i was asking about though and i had no idea who Gandalf was.
  4. It might of been drafted up, or just First Registered there, like the Scottish Registered Emergency vehicles in England. There all sorts of registrations in Scotland on vehicles registered just anyplace. Often for big Events you see them arriving New on Transporters or sitting at various Dealerships waiting to be moved on. Marked and unmarked. Lots of Unmarked Polestars. Kia & Hyundai,s were common, EV,s and with Government departments Hybrids.
  5. There are many snide parts available on the packaging that looks right. Spark Plugs especially. ? What spark plugs were fitted, and even though pre-gapped was that gap checked on all 4 plugs before fitting? Is the Air Filter is a nice clean and dry condition?
  6. @JR RS Is that not Long Life oil then, just to VW502 00 spec for Fixed Oil & Filter change regimes?
  7. I did not notice this thread is in the 'About to buy a Skoda' section. The Pinned threads are at the top of the Fabia Mk2 section. Various. Engine, DSG, buying a Used one.
  8. There are going to be plenty MUCH CHEAPNESS used BEV,s available and if you can charge cheaply and run without very high repair costs they might well be a good choice economically. Maybe 1 or 2 previous keepers, Demonstrator or Lease, maybe no record of 'Intrade' Auction then Trader / Dealers. Maybe no FMDSH as never serviced. Lots of if,s. Do not get an iffy one, have someplace or someone that can do the servicing and maintenance and be sure to have FULL RECOVERY SERVICE COVER. Moving a BEV with faults can be an EPIC. Then moving them again or again once where they are getting fixed.
  9. Yes it is too early for the cam belt, but in the UK up to last July the SKODA / VW Recommendation was at 5 years / 50,000 miles and people had them done. Some by less than competent people.
  10. Those with Home Charging facilities or work and Business use vehicles do seem blind to the difference of people that require to public charge, are maybe not near TESLA Chargers or have a TESLA and can have to pay anything from £6.00 - £8.50 to charge to maybe get from 30-40 miles of travel. (10 kWh) 60 kWh @ 75 pence a kWh =£45. & if you were to get 4 miles a kWh that is 240 miles. 3.5 miles a kWh, 210.
  11. @Octavia2019 Welcome. So a 1.5 TSI ACT. ACT being the kind of important bit. Sorry no idea what is wrong. What country are you in, and is it E5 95 ron min petrol you get? Have you had the car from new or only recently? Were those new spark plugs only put in recently? & did you put them in? ??? Before you got the car had anyone changed the Cam Belt? .................. The DSG clutch slipping is not unheard off. CAUSING THE RPM TO RISE, NOT DROP. The was a Software Update on some earlier than your vehicles and earlier still there were upgraded clutch packs being fitted,
  12. @Cantagar Welcome. Plenty PINNED Threads at the top of the page. Do you feel lucky?, then go for it. Best re-check that RECALLs in Australia. On the DQ200 DSG, it must have been part of the 3 called since 2012 on them since the first one on the 2009-2012 DQ200,s. But if all is well that is not an issue. Has it never had Breather Mod 2 that some had in Australia, but maybe only if reported as High Oil Users. @Warrior193 The 8 speed Automatic was used with 1.4 TSI (Turbo only & not ACT) vehicles in some world regions where the World Harmonised Light Vehicle / WLTP did not matter as just European kidolgy. From about 2018 i think.
  13. Official Vehicles might well be EV,s and not just when at Photo Ops about Green Energy or when there was the likes of COP26 . But Armoured Cars are not really going to be EV,s, but might well be PHEV,s for some extra oomph. Diplomatic and Royal Protection details are using BEV,s and high powered ones. HRH KC3 & his heir are fine with using BEV,s. Ones that are suited to their heritage. Sorry posted wring one. Best of China.
  14. A PHEV would be ideal for me since i can charge at home and when just local driving i could pretty much just run on electric. If the Manufacturers can build very efficient PHEV,s or Range Extender EV,s then that will be great. What they will build and sell might well have to change sooner rather than later. The important thing is that if the battery is not being charged the car should be efficient and low emission while running on petrol or diesel. But then the WLTP type testing is just not fit for purpose. ... He keeps on about Home Charging. Important, but it is not just HOME or PUBLIC CHARGING, there is ANOTHER WAY. Well if he was to think on and 'Work Place charging' for those going back and fore to work, and it was Business Users that were very much at the front of the queue for PHEV,s for Grants and BIK because those available, even where the PHEV might not get charged.
  15. ^^^ @ColinD might watch the climbing videos that David MacLeod makes and features in.
  16. Aberdeen -9*oC earlier. But then this is only the temperatures from the Weather Stations. The thing about Weather Stations at Airports, they are like Harbours / Ports, not built where the worst of weather is. Ports are always at sea level and where there is water and Airports where fog and frozen fog least likely, and in the UK not that high above sea level.
  17. Silicon spray or the Gummi-pflenge. Cold like England is not going to get. Or has not had in a long time just like Scotland or Wales. But then Frozen fresh water is frozen water. (Unlike salt water before someone says.) Weather is given as Air Temperature and that is measured at least 5 feet above the ground, (2 meters is the figure given, so over 6 foot above ground level.) then there is Grass frost, Ground Temperature, and his thermometer is on the ground, the cars can be 2, 3 or maybe 4 feet higher, in a wing mirror maybe or in the grill area. Hence different temperatures even in the shade. This stuff is messy on the glass compared to the Halfords product i used for years. Good for spraying on door seals though.
  18. ^^^ What sort of ambient temp is that at? Prep a car for winter, with the rubbers prepared on the car. Idiots use Boiling water, warm water is fine, but then when it refreezes it can be down the doors, and in the rubber seals. The MINI Electric also has frameless doors and the window drops before the door opens. less than 5 minutes heating the MINI interior even at -9*oC.. As shown. If the car is frozen you turn on pre-heating with your phone via the App. (if you have a phone.)
  19. Is a Seat Leon hybrid too big? As to a smaller Skoda BEV that is the Epiq. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/522294-skoda-epiq-elroq
  20. Social divide revelation about the 'Revolution'. 'Not every town has a Sainsbury's'. or even supermarkets. but hey ho who cares! A FULL CHARGE in 30 Minutes', with vehicles that can benefit from higher powered chargers, but those with 50 kW max charge even with smaller batteries may well take longer. & this is 'Not in-expensive charging'. for plebs needing public charging. 10 kWh costing £7.50 and even if you get 4 miles a kWh that is 40 miles. Maybe nothing to bother about if your Taycan only gets 2.6 miles a kWh, £7.50 26 miles. PHEV charging the battery and 12kWh is £9.00 to maybe get 30 miles. maybe best buy £9.00 worth of petrol and get 50 miles.
  21. @Oct@via13 If you can not open the Air Filter box then ask someone to and see the condition of the filter, if you do not know what servicing gets done and you pay for you need to find out. Main Dealer Servicing can mean not much done these days. Bottom Chart was pre 2020, not everything done then but often charged as though it was.
  22. @J.R. Yes, you apply it by bluetooth from your phone when in the app. There are different functions available in different world regions. You can disable or not enable many variousfuntions. I have actually not got access to META fully with my glasses as some Security Update took place with my phone and the App & glasses say not compatible. I still use them as headphones for calls, radio bit can not transfer pictures taken to my phone. I will see if i can get full function back when i have another update with my phone. As it is there are many issues with this product and forums supporting users. Problem is the systems Google/ Gmail, Microsoft, Hotmail / Meta, Facebook, WhatsApp.
