  1. Five years ago I moved on to a Golf GTI 7.5, so a Mk8 now might tick some boxes? I was recently looking at 272 Superb’s, but for one three years younger than the Golf, with the cost to change, I’ve kept the Golf and bought a Volvo V70. Realise that’s not the direction you’re going, but the difference in ride quality with the 50 profile tyres on the V70 came as a very pleasant surprise πŸ‘ Gaz
  2. You are so bloody lucky... 😁 (I love the Peak District 😎) We're BBQ'ing tonight, so I expect to be incapacitated from driving. If you do get anything remotely coherent from me later, it'll probably be like the scene with Mac in Local Hero, describing the Borealis to Happer G
  3. Mrs Gaz has gone to bed, but I’m buzzing. I can hardly believe what I’m seeing!! Those pics are just from my iPhone 😎
  4. I'm a rubbish photographer but anyone still up really ought to go outside and look up! This is the Aurora Borealis from my house in Eastbourne, happening right now: Gaz
  5. Got driveway space for two, but a third would have to be on the road. I've had three before, but never four. Given the conversations with Mrs Gaz about this have got a little interesting shall we say, I think I'll quit while I'm behind. G
  6. Just done it - Β£318pa with legal and RAC breakdown, which I thought was okay. Could've got it Β£18 cheaper without breakdown. Think it's about Β£60 cheaper than the Golf. Encouraging is the last thing I need! πŸ˜‚ G
  7. I went a bit left field, and have ended up with this: 2010 Volvo V70 D3 SE Lux. One owner from new (the seller), 33k miles, FVSH (Main Dealer), new battery and the only thing I could fault it on was slight perishing on the front tyres. And it was only three miles away 😎 it did 299 miles between its 2022 and 2023 MOT's - selling because it's not being used. All MOT's passed except for one in 2016 for tyre wear on one tyre. All journeys were long trips picking kids up from Uni, no short trips. I can get my mobility scooter in the back (seat off), with my folding bike, and not need to have the rear seat down πŸ‘ Needs a good clean, but doesn't want for anything else. We'll most likely keep the Golf and sell the Polo. Don't need three cars. Gaz
  8. Independent, all day long πŸ‘ I've had my last two cars MD serviced while they were in warranty, and to be fair the Golf was MD serviced for five years, but it's now going to my trusted indy. I gave up with my local MD mainly due to trying to get me to have work done (brakes) that was not needed. And yes, expense was another factor. Gaz
  9. I'd be prepared to swap Daffodil for some dexion shelving - under sufferance though; twist my arm But you'll need to be quick as my generous nature is time limited 😁 G
  10. Only just back - the bloody A27 is a dreadful road 🀬 When I put the postcode in my satnav, it said I'd get there at 2:45pm, but I got there at 3:15pm. Arundel and Chichester were the usual bottlenecks πŸ™„ Well I liked it. Both front wheels have been kerbed, minor stone chip on the roof above the rear view mirror, but it's only gone down to the white undercoat, not the tin, and that's about it. Two new tyres on the rear (Sunny make), front's at 6mm. DCC was on normal for the road test. I'm guessing having the DQ381 seven speed might make it feel a little less torquey than the six speed 280? I find it odd the lack of a reversing camera. The sensors were going bananas when I was a good three feet away from anything. Minor but: It's obviously on long life, because it has a Skoda first service in 2022 and then nothing until this garage got it. They've serviced it and change the haldex fluid. When I asked about the gauze/filter, their mechanic told me there wasn't one, and then started waffling about some 'aftermarket' kit...... blah blah, I stopped listening. They'll do the wheels, but won't budge on price, offering me Β£16k for the GTI. I didn't commit to buying it. I saw a Petrol Blue L&K up in north Wales for Β£21k last night, but the Autotrader ad seems to have gone, so I'm guessing I was too slow. Gaz
  11. My Son recently had the same on his 2006 Touran. On double-checking it turned out he'd missed a blown sidelight bulb inside the headlamp unit. Just a thought. Gaz
  12. Well, for a grand more than the 2018 one, there's this just along the coast: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202404188797499?sort=distance&advertising-location=at_cars&drivetrain=Four Wheel Drive&make=Skoda&model=Superb&postcode=BN213UU&transmission=Automatic&fromsra It's certainly got potential. I'll give them a ring tomorrow. Gaz
  13. Handsome looking barge πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘ G
  14. Does Mrs Dunders know? - you do know this is generally frowned upon in a civilised society Can't think why! 🏍️ G
  15. The 2018 one certainly had a six speed DSG. Previous MOTs mention a child seat, which probably accounts for the rubbed paint on the rear quarter edge. July 2023 MOT mentions the front tyres, which clearly haven't been changed as they get a further mention on 30 April 2024 as being at 2.8mm (so would presumably be changed under the 'minimum 3mm' of the Skoda Approved Used scheme). I could tell the tyres had had it on the test drive - a quick check suggests they're made by the Shandong Haohua Tyre Co. The paint was tired, probably not needing correction, but certainly a good going over with a DA MOP. I'm a bit conflicted tbh. Poor (IMO) tyre choice and needing a bloody good clean tells me it probably wasn't a loved car. But 19k miles and a good history doesn't put it past redemption. I've also realised that for the cost of changing, I could keep the GTI, and buy a good Mk2 Superb for less money - WaveyDavey's one for sale on here piqued my interest there. Interested too Gaz
  16. Found it! Clearer image: Embarrassed now πŸ˜‡ Gaz
  17. I think I'm being a divvy πŸ™„ I can find lots of reference to the '100 checks', but not what each one of those 100 is. I'm sure I used to have a link to them - but I've obviously put it somewhere safe I've done a search on here, but maybe need to try harder. Can anyone help please? Ta Gaz
  18. Hello Ray I went the other way, Octavia to a Golf. Still skulking around here though πŸ˜‡ Gaz
  19. Hello and welcome Paul I've always fancied a Yeti, not quite took the plunge though. Gaz
  20. Welcome back Will vRS looks lovely 😎 Gaz
  21. Clearly related to Mrs Gaz πŸ™„
  22. Let's see it then Yeah, mine was a Mk1 - 2.5 V6 TDI, great cars indeed. G
  23. Hello and welcome Hiro Nice looking parasol (car) your dog's got there 😎🐢 Gaz
  24. I've driven quite a few 'R's and they don't do it for me. Dunno why really, especially if I'm looking at a 272/280. The garage that sold the Dragon Green one have just taken another DG Superb in as a part x. This one's a 2018 280, so I popped over to take a look: 19k miles, FSH inc. haldex (2021), brake fluid twice, plugs. Pair of obscure tyres on the front, original (I presume) Pirelli's on the rear. Wheels have minor kerb damage and whiteworm, pin dent in OSF door, minor paint scuff on the OSR quarter leading edge. Both rear discs a tad grubby, pads good. Hasn't got a reversing camera - that surprised me. Standard CC, not ACC. Drove very nice, needs a service. TPMS went off while I was out, for both NS tyres. They'll do the service, wheels, PDR and paint. But they want Β£23k for it, which seems a bit strong to me. Offered me Β£16k for the GTI. I'm undecided about it. Gaz Edit: Just did a free valuation of the GTI on AutoTrader - Β£17,600. Mine's also got heated leather, sunroof, ACC, Virtual Cockpit, full LED lighting, and 34k miles so any adjustment would probably go up. Autotrader similarly have this 280 at Β£18,430!
  25. Car sold yesterday πŸ™„ ..... the search continues G
