Possibly, but my view is that you've bought a car from a main dealer, with an extended warranty, an item has failed in the warranty period, so needs to be returned to working order, and if that's by the warranty, then so be it. I'm not sure I fully understand what the £120 is about? Is it a diagnostic fee? The boot button doesn't work - I'd have said that was diagnostics enough 🙄 Is the £120 for an hour's diagnostics? If so, how long will is take them to push a button and suss out it's not working. I also think the clutch issue is something you take back to them, and ask them to remedy the issue, under warranty. Simple as that. Nothing more, nothing less. It'll be the Consumer Rights Act (2015) rather than the Sale of Goods Act, but nevertheless I'm not sure asking you for £120 a pop is reasonable in either circumstance, so I'd suggest having a conversation with Trading Standards/Consumer Direct before going back to the garage, so you're better informed and know where you stand, because take you for a ride they will, if they can. Do you have a sunroof? Rear washer working okay? There should be a drain at the bottom left of the rubber under your fuel filler cap. Shouldn't be causative but worth checking. From the photo, I'd agree, that knock is quite unlikely to have affected the door seals. With the amount of water you describe, I'd be checking the door seals and looking for tell tale signs of water. Maybe sit inside and run a hose over it? Gaz

I'm wondering if the door deal or door card were affected by the impact? Or if the quarter panel moved away from the door seal, even slightly? Are the door drains clear, and water exiting freely? Any water sloshing in the door? Have you any water in the spare wheel well?

What's really nice is hearing you reminisce on some of the challenges you've gone through, and remembering you going through them at the time. They'll be in this thread somewhere as well. When I inherited a 1989 Mk2 Golf GTI 16v in 2002, it had an aftermarket exhaust on it. Can't remember the make, but it was a well known brand. Once you got to 50mph there was a god awful resonance that no one in their right mind could live with. That first drive after installing a new OEM system was just bliss. I've been on two wheels since the late 1960's when bike lights had HP2 batteries and the light reached the road if you were lucky. I now have five lights on my bike (three rear, two front) and according to where I am, I might use a head torch as well. The front one for seeing with, is as good as a car headlight (and better than some), and it's no trouble to have it angled down so it doesn't blind anyone, and up on unlit cycle paths. It's just common courtesy. Both my car and Mrs Gaz's are all LED. The Polo's seem more intense than my Golf's, but they're both adjusted as they should be and cause no issues that I'm aware of. I've only been flashed once and that was my mistake for leaving my main beam up, when they should've been dipped. George's anniversary and recollection of his bike accident is a good reminder about bikes. I do worry about my Daughter as her home to work is on some unlit roads. But she's got really good lights (LED), has good protective clothing, and a bike that's powerful enough to get her out of trouble. I like that I can see where she is, and where her bike is, whenever I want (she likes the reassurance too - she can see where I am as well). She'd be mortified if she were to experience the light output on my 1978 Honda Camino! 🕯️ Gaz

It's your car, do what you want - in my opinion. Delaying the service until March is going to make very little overall difference, and makes sense to me. Could you bring the MOT forward to, say, mid February and have 13 or so months MOT, as a compromise? I certainly wouldn't be worrying about being penalised. I've previously brought a first service forward, and delayed other services, out of personal preference, with no adverse comments made by the main dealer. Gaz
