I'd have a good read of the t&c's if I were you. If it's not covered, I wouldn't bother and would DIY it I'd expect their response to be that it's either not covered, has gone beyond it's warrantable life expectancy, is a fair wear and tear item, you've used it too much (customer error), opened the door too much, slammed the door too hard, blah blah etc. But I'm an old cynic and would be delighted to be wrong. For 'diagnostic' if you weren't so far away, I'd happily pop around and tell you it's not working for a mere £40, saving you a ton just like that 😁 Gaz

Well my Sony TC-K570 did a death squeal this morning and the cassette tray won't open. I'm sure I must've used it at least once in the last decade Watching videos on YT seems to suggest it's the belts, which would be no surprise. A belt kit's only about £7, and I think (ever the optimist) I could do it, but if I won't use it again before the new belts are goo/perished, what's the point. The unit itself isn't worth a light, repaired or not, so I think I'm just being sentimental in not wanting to just throw it away. Sad day 😧 Gaz

I prefer a car over an SUV, so I'm gonna say Superb. Having had a Mk1 when my parents were getting on, they loved the comfort, access, and class-leading rear legroom. Agree with Skomaz about room and access for dogs. I'd imagine the Superb is a better mile muncher than a Kodiaq. My Superb was a 2.5V6 TDI, which I think was a lowly 163bhp, or thereabouts - never felt lacking in grunt, and wafted along effortlessly. Gaz

Likewise That's not my experience. The DQ200 in our Polo GTI is a peach, and just as quick as the DQ250 in our Golf GTI in terms of reaction times. I know plenty have their problems, and I'd still choose a DQ250 over a DQ200, but they're not all bad. Not gloating, it's just the three DQ200's I've known for years have all been good. Gaz

The Met Office send up one of those silver weather balloons, which then slices a 50 yard section of the jets contrails out. They then cut the exact amount of clean air from alongside the contrail. Both are processed into separate sections in the weather balloon, which makes it heavier than air and returns to earth. Both are then pumped through Mann (I believe) high altitude air filters and scientific analysis of the filters is carried out, including the use of a mass spectrometer and scanning electron microscope. If you look up on a clear day, you can sometimes see the gaps on the contrails - that'll be the Met Office 👍 G

Yep, can confirm it's bloody mayhem for the duration. Organisers encourage park and ride, with Five Acre Field, near the Sovereign Centre being used for parking, which quickly fills up. Only a fool would bother driving into town. My 8mph mobility scooter would beat a McMurtry Speirling on the 3-4 mile route out of town, hands down 😁 IIRC passenger airliners, like the 737/747 use between three and five gallons per mile, which is pretty phenomenal mpg per person carried (unless it's empty of course). My mate is such a tart 🙄 He's managed to find a chip in the chrome on the kick start, and thinks the saddle re-cover should've been squares rather than lines. He took a friend with him to see it, who restores bikes and has his own motorcycle business. My mate tried to haggle on price, but the friend who went with him gave him the 'If you don't buy it you're gonna get a punch in the face' look, which was clearly received and understood Gaz

New batteries of this size have a plastic peelable disc on them. It has a bitter taste, as a deterrent to children from swallowing the battery. Until the plastic disc is removed, you won’t have contact with the key’s terminals, so no circuit and the key will appear dead. Gaz
