Hello new to Skoda
The Sprint Yellow vRS was my previous car. To be fair I rarely drive with economy in mind; I try to be good, but lose interest quite quickly I've had some economical-ish cars, but now, as Cyndi Lauper once said, 'Boys jus' wanna have fun!' 😇 G

Hello Steeble Good looking vRS 😎 - my last car was a Mk3 vRS of the TSI variety; a car I enjoyed owning very much. Gaz

Skoda Octavia Vrs Petrol - What mpg do you get?
I have a 230 DSG on a 2018 plate, albeit in a Golf GTI. Long term average (30k miles) is 34.2mpg. Last tank was 41.1mpg with a run up to Stratford-upon-Avon and back. My previous car was a 220 vRS DSG, mapped to just North of 300bhp. Long term (25k miles) average was 29.5mpg (lot of urban htw 4 mile journeys), and best tank, post mapping, was 42.4mpg. I did used to have to be good with my right foot if I wanted to eke out the mpg. Gaz

2019 Fuel flap replacement
You have my empathy. Mrs Gaz managed to snap the flap off of her Polo. Luckily it was a clean break so one of the superglues did the trick (but not before Mrs Gaz also dropped the snapped off flap and chipped the hitherto undamaged paint 🙄). Gaz

My Octavia and gremlins
Recallibrate the stop points on the drivers window by holding the button down for five seconds after it stops, and then the same for the up position. Should sort out the one touch up and down. Gaz

Octavia Vrs 245 2018
Should add the GTI and the vRS before it were both bought new, and did it from day one. Does it sound a bit like one of the old centrifugal starter motors, where they'd continue to spin for a second or two? It comes up from time to time, e.g.: G

What you're describing sounds very reminiscent of the noise the EA888's make as they build oil pressure on startup. My GTI does it, as did my 220 vRS before it (Both EA888 G3's). Mrs Gaz's Polo GTI (1.8TSI) also does it. Gaz

Connecting an old Hitachi VCR to a Sony Bravia TV
Wow, thanks for the speedy response @xman 👍 I'd been wallowing in my sense of failure, but will lay siege to it again after I've finished the washing up. Gaz
