I liked the watch analogy too. I wouldn't say never, but certainly not in the near future. Although it's very hard to put my finger on exactly why that is. I have a £9.99 Casio watch having ruined nicer ones previously. I've a Dyson cordless, an e-bike, cordless drills, a battery powered mower, mobility scooter, cordless hair trimmer (Pandemic purchase) and electric toothbrush, so everything says I should like EV's. But I find myself unable to warm to them. We went to my Cousin's for the first time last year for a belated housewarming. He has two toys; a 2CV and a TVR Griffith 500. It didn't leave the garage, but he fired up the TVR. Had the garage had a Tesla and a Leaf in it, I'd have undoubtedly been impressed by the technology, but ultimately neither would have the phwoar! factor of the TVR's rumble. We recently needed a new washing machine. Our Ecobubble went tits up. I did my usual and looked for the 'best 2022...' with a view to upgrading. Sally went out, and came back with the second cheapest basic Beko. There's only the two of us, our washing is never truly dirty, and it's used twice a week. the saleswoman said (quite rightly) that we didn't need anything fancy and her Beko was now five years old. It's a great washing machine and the cycle we use is only 28 minutes. Do I look back at the washing machine after I've emptied it and think oooh? No I do not. I think I'd feel the same way about an EV. I used to notice Tesla's, but now I don't. I still notice vRs's, and if I see a sprint yellow one, it makes my day. I watched the chap (Robert?) from Fully Charged with his 2011, owned from new, blue Leaf. And found myself thinking what a brilliant purchase that was. Newly retired, it'd probably suit me to the ground. But I'd still rather get in my GTI if I'm going out for a tootle. Gaz

Good point as ever George. When I was a lot younger, and stronger, I had to lift the dead weight of a 14st male, and I can tell you it's no mean feat. Lifting two at once and chucking them in the boot of a Superb is impressive. TBF though, TYO's didn't say how heavy they were, so they could be an archaeologist, putting a couple of suitcase sized mummified corpses in, although I'd think the dump was a bit of a poor choice for a final resting place if that were the case. G

Bet the two bodies in the boot were a bit ripe too. Although I suppose good aircon might slow the ripening process. G

I despise stone chips 🤬 Whenever I have any sorted properly (as opposed to my own bodge repairs) I can pretty much guarantee I’ll add another one to the collection within a day or two 🙄 One arrived on my NSF door handle a few days ago 😕 Water marks do my noddle too. G

1979 FIAT 132 2000TC. Owned it in 1985 and was the first car where I could give my mates in their Capri's a run for their money. I was 21 at the time, learned a lot about maintenance (like not to re-use stretch head bolts after a HG failure - learned the hard way when re-torquing 🙄) and was the car I had when I met Mrs Gaz. I'd view the roof dent as a positive. It's failed an inspection and they've been upfront about it. You didn't spot it, so the roof's presumably not concave or looking like it was upended during a rally stage off. And they're going to resolve it. Asking for before and after photos might alleviate your concern. I'd certainly want to know details. As to it not being serviced yet, there might be a perfectly reasonable explanation. In the team I've just left, we needed 13 people to keep ticking over in one area, but due to sickness, maternity, Covid, over the last two years we'd been routinely down to three to five staff. Strategy, routine work and planning was put on hold and we were doing the next most important thing next, so I can understand things ending up being last minute. I think it'd be very cool, although you might wanna check out insurance quotes before you commit to one. I love the nerdy element, of which I'm one of sorts. At Goodwood in 2001, amongst all the exotica, one of the cars that drew crowds, myself included, was a Rover 75 V8 because of the rumble. I remember a mate I went with saying 'Who needs a mortgage...'. Of it's day, I liked the 75. G

Greetings Snowr0 Quite a step from a freelander to a 190 Superb I'd forgotten about the Golden Flash. So many great bikes. I'm a four wheel merchant, but my Dad's first mode of transport in the early 1950's was a Vincent Comet, 500cc 'thumper', which he put a Bullet sidecar on when my older brother arrived. Dad finished a long and distinguished bike history commuting on a Honda CX500 in the mid 1980's, before retiring. Between him and my brother they had over 100 bikes. Dad loved his Sunbeam S7, and my Brother couldn't choose, although he did love a late '70's CB (I think) 400/4. Highlights were a Series C Rapide that never quite got finishes, a Trident (bent frame), TriBSA and the time they both had consecutive numbered ex Police G5 Guzzi's. Sadly all photos lost to age, and I'm waffling. Gaz

That would be my thinking. The magnet might go past the sensor a bit quicker the further out from the axle, but the number of rotations remain the same. Gaz

On mine (Shimano): Dongle: Speed sensor: Dongle not fully located, but you get the idea: Just in case it helps. Gaz PS: See what you mean about the photo - doesn't look like a normal cable run to me - caveat emptor!

I had a Badass dongle on mine to de-restrict it. These are little square boxes that cover the speed sensor and trick it, also fooling the speedo - mine would show 4 to 9mph when I might've been doing 28 to 30mph. Some people move the speed sensor and magnet onto the pedal arm. Google will be your friend on the most obvious ways to de-restrict that particular motor, so how to look for what's been done. I now prefer the 15.5mph cut-off as keeping it above that gives me much more exercise. Weather's gonna be nice tomorrow Gaz
