Approved Used Warranty - problems
Hello PMFW4 Slippery little suckers will try to wriggle out of anything! I'd suggest talking to Trading Standards/Consumer Direct before taking any further action, and follow their advice. A known issue, developing into a fault, which then isn't covered by a warranty? What did it log, if there wasn't an issue. Shabby indeed ๐ Gaz

Octavia or Superb Estate ?
I'm of a height where I always need the driver's seat as far back at it will go. In my Octavia Estate this did compromise rear leg room, but in my Superb there was still plenty of room for two 6'+ offspring. Gaz

Stick a Thudbuster seat post on it? Iโve never needed rear suspension, so didnโt think about it being different. G

e bike buying thoughts
Nothing wrong with the bike per se. Battery should still be in good order unless it's not been looked after/left drained. I like 'em as bikes! Realise local is good but there's a new (2020) one quite a bit cheaper: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/224991299369?hash=item346286c729:g:YvQAAOSwnLlig~i~ Gaz

St Mary's Church, Fairford. Interesting because it's the only medieval Parish Church in the Country with a full set of 28 stained glass windows, one of which is the origin (allegedly) of the phrase 'Going to hell in a hand cart': Fairford's a smashing little village to visit and while away a day. No prizes for quality, but I was quite pleased to have snapped this brown trout as it made its way past a heron at Bourton-on-the-Water:

Hypermiling
Just back from a few days away and on the 154 mile journey to the Cotswolds, the GTI got 48.5mpg. A fair chunk of it was M23, M25, M3 & M4 so I sat at 65mph on cruise, with the occasional blip to get past the people who overtook me, then slowed down. That's with two of us, luggage and a bike (folder in the boot). Not a bit like hypermiling, but I was quite pleased given I wasn't particularly trying. Gaz

Coming back to Skoda - DSG or Manual?
All three DSG's I've got/had have been both superb and faultless. I've a mate with an A5 that's got the CVT box, and the DSG's are far better IMO. If it's a 2.0 Diesel from that era, it'll have the DQ250 six speed wet clutch DSG, that should have services at 40k intervals. This is the better DSG in my opinion, although the DQ200 in our Polo GTI has also been spot on (a 1.6 diesel will have this DQ200 seven speed dry clutch unit). The DQ200 doesn't have a service schedule - it's worth doing a bit of background reading on this box, although by 2017 most of the early wrinkles were ironed out. I think it's arguable as to whether manual is '..the safest way to go'. Gaz

Dragonfly on my fence just now. I didn't bother getting my phone out as I knew I wouldn't be quick enough. After three or four minutes I thought well, in for a penny. Dragonfly stayed around for a couple of mins after too. Lovely to see:

Petrol flap snapped
I've suggested getting a touch up set. Doubt it'll happen. To be honest, it's seven years old, all four alloys are knackered, it's got car park dings, a score across the NSF window which arrived after it was washed (Mrs Gaz wears rings). All things that'd drive me nuts, but if I fixed them they'd soon be replaced. A paint chip on plastic is just something else to try to not look at. G

Petrol flap snapped
Loctite All Plastics seems to have done the trick : Unfortunately not before Mrs Gaz dropped the flap on to the drive for no apparent reason, chipping the paint: Gaz

Petrol flap snapped
Yeah that's come up ta. I've got JB Cold Weld, but it looks like Loctite All Plastics might be the one to try for this particular application. Unit looks simple enough to change if all else fails. Gaz

Petrol flap snapped
Mrs Gaz has just managed to snap her plastic petrol flap clean off ๐: It's a clean break. Has anyone glued one back on before? I'm wondering what glue might be best, or whether to just get a new one and be done with it. Ta Gaz
