Best tyres for VRS
- So I went and bought a Jaaaag
I've had a long standing hankering for one of these as I think they've got a lovely rumble: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202006099957583?include-delivery-option=on&postcode=bn213uu&sort=relevance&radius=1501&make=PORSCHE&model=928&advertising-location=at_cars&transmission=Automatic&onesearchad=New&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=Used&page=1 It's an itch I've not yet scratched though. Just a thought. Gaz- New Yeti Owner.
Hello Debs My Dad was made to give up his car keys by his GP at about 84y/o following a hip fracture. As a retired lorry driver, he took complete umbrage, but it wasn't before time. You can't do much better than look to Richard for some Yeti inspiration if you like a bit of speed: And of course, 'that' video: Gaz- First time Skoda owner

Hello Noms, welcome back Gaz- So I went and bought a Jaaaag
Have to agree - comfort (i.e. interior quality). Any beautiful soundtrack, or impressive handling enjoyment is going to be very short-lived if it's too uncomfortable to live with. Gaz- Sasha’s Superb SportLine Plus
Awesome Congrats Sasha I looked at a dragon green estate the other day; by far and away my favourite colour. Have decided to stick with the GTI for a bit longer. Gaz- Want to buy Superb Mk1
Ticking time bomb and a complete lemon of an engine. My 2.5 V6TDI was fabulous, although there are horror stories about the cost of a failed VP44 pump. Anecdotal comments that on the 1.9PD that the 5 speed gearbox is more reliable than the 6 speed. Gaz- Kia Ora From New Zealand. Glad To be Here.
Greetings Mr B, or Mr S Sounds like it's run in then! Gaz- Polo GTI front suspension spring
Cheers Carlston Just done what Wino alluded to. According to the V5 it's a 6R chassis. Not that I can see much difference as to 6C or 6R. I can't get down low enough yet to look closely at the springs to check the dots. Well I can, but getting back up'll be a challenge. So flipping frustrating! Knowing the springs to be OEM, I'm now wondering if I buy Kilen or Lesjofors, should I buy a pair, rather than just one? We reckon Sally did it a few weeks back on a particularly nasty pot hole. Probably partially fractured it then and the cold and wet finished it off as the 'my spring's bust' noise started when pulling off our drive a couple of days ago. Dropped kerb and a minor camber - certainly not enough to pop a spring on it's own. Wouldn't mind but when looking (as best I could) yesterday, I noticed she also needed two front tyres. And in the evening her phone got hacked. Hopefully that's the three things done. Tyres replaced this afternoon, so it's at least now on four PS4's. Gaz- Polo GTI front suspension spring
Brilliant, many thanks Wino Gaz- Polo GTI front suspension spring
I suppose this could also go in the what annoyed you today thread Wife's just popped her NSF suspension spring. I'm not able to DIY it as I'm still recovering from my hip replacement, so it's got to go to a garage. Quote from VW - £489. That's £11 shy of £500 to replace one broken spring FFS They won't be getting the work. I'm inclined to buy and supply the spring. Can anyone in the know confirm the correct part number please? It's a 2015 1.8 GTI DSG (192ps). TIA Gaz- 1.8 TSI engine starts with adittional noise
I agree both points. My point was observational, and as my cars were bought new, they both went straight back to Skoda and VW respectively, who both gave the same explanation and re-assured me nothing was wrong. My concerns were noted though (which was my main intention). If it wasn't there before, but is now, then it'd probably be best to have it investigated, in case it's something more serious, as you and Max have indicated. The audio quality after the initial whirr doesn't sound great and there's obviously no substitute for actually being there with the car to hear it. Gaz- 1.8 TSI engine starts with adittional noise
The sound at 8 seconds is the same as my Golf has done since new (2018 2.0 TSI), is the same as my previous vRS did since new (2015 2.0 TSI), and is the same as my Wife's Polo GTI does (2015 1.8 TSI). It was explained to me that it's the sound made as an oil rail fills. Gaz- Hi All

Hello Stoo A 2005 Mk1 Superb (V6TDI) was my first Skoda, and brought me here. I hope you get to love yours as much as I did mine.
