I empathise Mac. Came off a bike for the first time in decades in mid 2017 (53y/o then). Found out that I no longer bounce Got home more concerned about the buckled front wheel than the blood I hadn't noticed dripping from my elbow. Several hours at A&E and a week off work until my thumb started to move again Gaz

I've only ever driven auto's in 40 years of driving. I leave it in drive, foot on brake if only a few seconds (three or four at most), otherwise it's handbrake on and into neutral, as with the engine running it still feels (to me) that it's dragging on the clutch. My car has auto hold, which I've gotten used to and now like. If the car stops and switches off, then I don't bother with the handbrake and just leave it in the held position. Gaz

Hello Colm The 2.0 engined cars will have the DQ250 six speed wet clutch DSG, whereas the smaller engines will have the seven speed DQ200 dry clutch unit. The DQ250 is more robust than the DQ200, which had its fair share of failures. I've got both and would go for the DQ250 every time, even though the DQ200 in our Polo has been faultless in the four years we've had it. Gaz

Your shifting issue Mac - is the cable too tight? As in, now you can get first, do you need to slacken the cable off a bit to let it drop to seventh? (then re-tighten - I like to state the obvious!) I also had it once where the actual cause was the derailleur not being perfectly parallel to the chain line. A few seconds with a pair of stillsons and all was tickety boo. Gaz

There are plenty of comments on here about seats and comfort. I had a vRS and found the seats quite acceptable, but those in the Golf are noticeably better. I was going to ask if you're tall, but I guess not, as if you're thinking about an MX5, you must be less tall than me (6'4") as I simply don't fit in them (which is a shame as I really like them). Thanks John They're 225/40/18 92Y and I'm of a mind to change all four to Crossclimate's, although Vector 4 gen 3's and Continental AllSeasonContacts are on my radar. Thought about the Yoko BluEarth and Vredstein Quattrac Pro's too. Interestingly, my vRS had the Bridgestone's (S001's) on from new and they were okay, but not great (IMO). The same tyres on the GTI are much better and pretty acceptable, which came as a surprise. Our Polo has PS4's and is incredibly sure footed. Both you and George have previously mentioned temperature, and while of course I do get cold weather, it's rarely below 7c. George has also pointed out surface temperature is just as significant as ambient air temperature. I've never had all season tyres before, and I'm still on the fence as to if I actually need them over decent Summer focussed tyres. Gaz
