If you're seeing a lot of random, seemingly unrelated issues my first port of call would be to check the battery and if it's very old or weak then to change it for a new one. A lot of sensors really don't like it when batteries are on their last legs or flat and start coming up with errors. Once you've done that (If it's weak as it's coming up to winter anyway), then clear the fault codes and see what comes back. Those will then be the ones to concentrate on. The wastegate solenoid and the turbo are entirely possible to be related, but if the battery is making the solenoid sensor report bad data the turbo will cut out too thinking there is an error that might not be there.

You can claim the difference in tax, however 18p per mile for a circa 50MPG diesel, vs 5p per mile for a 3.5m/kWh electric. @£2/litre, you're really using 27L to do 300 miles, so about £54, whilst being paid £54. @£0.5/kWh, you're using 86kWh, which will cost £43 (Winning) but you get paid only £15 (Losing big time). If the government want people to go electric and help hit the net zero targets then the price per mile for electric needs to be reviewed quarterly as the fuel is. Fuel is priced about right for just fuel and electric costs you about £30/300 miles or 10p per mile.

So I see the HMRC advisory mileage rates have adjusted for fuel, but that electric is still at 5p per mile. That assumes between 15-20p per kWh @ 3-4 miles/kWh. That's a pretty good reasons to avoid going electric if you only get paid the advisory rates.

I'm surprised as I was thinking along the line of cables. For example a cable to deal with 1000A is a lot lot cheaper to buy, handle and repair/replace sections that deal with 10,000A. I suppose you get around this with more local transformers and running things at higher voltages into the basement of the blocks of flats where it is then stepped down.

If you have a ctek that will charge via the cigarette lighter or any charger that will do 12V supply it'll open. Otherwise you need to bend the lever around the door. It's a stupid design feature of the RHD conversion sadly.

Worries me that the locksmith didn't ask any questions to be honest. They are suppossed to confirm identiy of the person before providing entry to anything locked.

But no generation there, larger transmission issues too. More load on a cable = bigger cables and transformers = much more cost and more heat. Much more expensive to install/maintain and not in a linear way.

I posted this per kWh sheet on another thread. It is based on the ofgem figures from October and shouldn’t be used for more than approximations and personal interest. Do not treat it as accurate. Surprise surprise London is the cheapest electric standard charge by a long way.. That’s pretty insulting when there is limited generation.

I’ve done some sums and I think an etron GT through SS would cost about the same as an EV6 through standard after tax purchases. That is one heck of a tax advantage…

You’re going to need your v5 to prove it’s your car and they key will also need to be coded to the car. It’s not going to be cheap.

They are big cars, with room for a lot of swag and yet as fast as a GTI. Essentially they’re probably less desirable to an average thief, but those after a car for a specific job or who steal for spares are still probably watching.

Mandatory registration plates and insurance requirement, plus being able to take their bike plus fine them and even stick them in prison. Perfect example today was a d*ckhead cyclist on a narrow path by the river cycling at speed. We saw him coming and got out of the way, but he then zoomed up behind a padestrian and slammed the brakes on last moment when the pedestrian didn't hear his horn as he had headphones on. Having narrowly avoided that, the same was repeated a few hundred yards up the path, except this time the pedestrian was a parent with a child in a pushchair and the cyclist just horned and couldn't wait. If he had hit the child/pushchair in any way or come close to hurting the child I think the parent would have been fully justified in putting the bike in the river. Still if you come within 1.5 meters of them on a road, they'll be filming you and have the police charge you for being a danger to them. Of course the same doesn't apply to them as pedestrians should get out of their way.

Marantz CD63 KI-Signature anyone? I imagine a lot of the desire for tape is you can't really buy it now, but you can still buy a CD/DVD/BR player that will do a good job for not a lot.

That's kind of the thought process. You get hit for BIK but save on income tax and NI... so it's just a case of which works out better a good PCH or a standard SS lease. I'll look into the insurance, as it might be worth something. Sadly for Gen1 of EV I don't think an outright purchase is likely, although I think when they get solid state batteries or a similar battery improvement along then it might be quite different.

Moved it. I assume you've had a look at EuroCarParts and GSF? For that £400, if they're doing a basic service (oil filter, new oil etc), that will have some value in it.

New conundrum…. A couple of jobs have come up where salary sacrifice might be an option. Does anyone use it for their EV and if so how does it work out vs a normal lease. The current PCH would be approx 70% of the monthly vs a new PCH and I’m wondering how the SS schemes compare.

Protyre are a national chain so you’ll probably have a local branch.

So WBAC are offering 2k more. id pay a few pennies to get a glasses price as that’s what a dealer will use as a reference. In your situation I have walked before.

It's not just skoda dealers that are having issues, but some are clearly porforming better than others. In terms of WBAC, that's a reasonably baseline, how much of a difference is that between where you had assumed it was? As you have nothing in writing and staff have changed, I think you'll struggle to get the price maintained. Have you got a price on glasses also? https://glass.co.uk/ As it's a Hyundai, assuming it's not too old and not too high mileage, but in good condition, have you considered approaching a Hyundai dealer? I know they were very interested in picking up used cars a few months back, as there was a shortage of stock. Finally, if you're not sure, approach some dealers or even put it up on autotrader, for what it was valued at and see if you get a real (not taking the mick) bite and offer. If non of these work, then walking away is an option and depending on what you signed around delivery times, you could get some or all of your deposit back (or not if you signed to say it's ok to take ages). There is something to be said around not owing anyone anything right now.
