Surprise surprise London is the cheapest electric standard charge by a long way.. That’s pretty insulting when there is limited generation.

I’ve done some sums and I think an etron GT through SS would cost about the same as an EV6 through standard after tax purchases. That is one heck of a tax advantage…

You’re going to need your v5 to prove it’s your car and they key will also need to be coded to the car. It’s not going to be cheap.

They are big cars, with room for a lot of swag and yet as fast as a GTI. Essentially they’re probably less desirable to an average thief, but those after a car for a specific job or who steal for spares are still probably watching.

Perfect example today was a d*ckhead cyclist on a narrow path by the river cycling at speed. We saw him coming and got out of the way, but he then zoomed up behind a padestrian and slammed the brakes on last moment when the pedestrian didn't hear his horn as he had headphones on. Having narrowly avoided that, the same was repeated a few hundred yards up the path, except this time the pedestrian was a parent with a child in a pushchair and the cyclist just horned and couldn't wait. If he had hit the child/pushchair in any way or come close to hurting the child I think the parent would have been fully justified in putting the bike in the river. Still if you come within 1.5 meters of them on a road, they'll be filming you and have the police charge you for being a danger to them. Of course the same doesn't apply to them as pedestrians should get out of their way.

That's kind of the thought process. You get hit for BIK but save on income tax and NI... so it's just a case of which works out better a good PCH or a standard SS lease. I'll look into the insurance, as it might be worth something. Sadly for Gen1 of EV I don't think an outright purchase is likely, although I think when they get solid state batteries or a similar battery improvement along then it might be quite different.

New conundrum…. A couple of jobs have come up where salary sacrifice might be an option. Does anyone use it for their EV and if so how does it work out vs a normal lease. The current PCH would be approx 70% of the monthly vs a new PCH and I’m wondering how the SS schemes compare.

Protyre are a national chain so you’ll probably have a local branch.

So WBAC are offering 2k more. id pay a few pennies to get a glasses price as that’s what a dealer will use as a reference. In your situation I have walked before.

It's not just skoda dealers that are having issues, but some are clearly porforming better than others. In terms of WBAC, that's a reasonably baseline, how much of a difference is that between where you had assumed it was? As you have nothing in writing and staff have changed, I think you'll struggle to get the price maintained. I know they were very interested in picking up used cars a few months back, as there was a shortage of stock. Finally, if you're not sure, approach some dealers or even put it up on autotrader, for what it was valued at and see if you get a real (not taking the mick) bite and offer. If non of these work, then walking away is an option and depending on what you signed around delivery times, you could get some or all of your deposit back (or not if you signed to say it's ok to take ages). There is something to be said around not owing anyone anything right now.

Modern cars are huge, and the UK parking spaces were starting to look small in the 90's. Now however the cars are way too big and the spaces a reasonable bit too small. Glad the fuel readings seem to behaving, although with lead times on everything I'd be getting a spare for the shelf. I assume there isn't some crud in the tank or that any of the welding/filter removal hasn't allowed another chamber to become open?

Electric disco type vehicle or Isu Trooper replacement, then sure. No need for 3 tonnes of ride over the crash protection in any cars on the congested town and city roads though.

If they made one where an Isuzu sized vehicle then I'd go with you but these things are massive. What I would say is that whilst I get that work sites and actual workers might need these, most in the UK seem to be driven by your average person and are treated as a bullying/compensation device.

I don't get the attraction of a vehicle that is too wide for UK roads, poor for the safety of other road users and looks like they have the aero profile of a house brick.

40kW and 150 miles, AC on, not really trying too hard and driving on a motorway as you would normally. That's about 3.75m/kWh, which is pretty good. If you take that of the 40kW 10 was on an ultra rapid at 60p, 6 on a 7kW destination charger at 30p and the 24 would have been charged at home at say 10p-30p That's £6.50 + £2.50 (Both inc connection charges) + (say 24*15p) £3.60 = £12.60 I'd say that's pretty realistic for a real world mix too. That's actually a smidge under 9p per mile. Shame the car on loan had 12V battery issues or zombie mode (I presume it hadn't had software updates) and left us stuck if it hadn't been for some other EV drivers. EDIT: to be clear that was from a test drive in the maddening heat of the last few weeks.

With the high prices, if servicing become that expensive along with high running costs nobody will bother. manufacturers need to hammer dealers who do that by offering a collect and return service direct. I see Tesla do 👍

Manufacturing of Batteries isfully under control of China and they/Russia are in control of many of the metals that go into them. Batteries need replacing every 10-15 years in commercial systems. Batteries are extremely difficult to recycle. Batteries are just expensive per kWh Mining of material for as well as recycling of batteries often involves lots of very poor or child labour. If conditions were good costs would be unaffordable. mining is devastating to the local environment too. When they come up with a lighter, safer , cheaper more environmentally sound battery I might be more convinced. Not everyone can survive on 150 miles and 45 minutes rest break. Most people I know won’t go EV but would go hydrogen. So your choice is ICE of FCEV which would you rather picked?

Check the hose under the tank and make sure the lid and pressure cap are in good Nick
