I’m wondering if some of the data associated with the app is corrupted which hasn’t been cleared by reinstalling it. On both iPhone and Android there is a way to delete apps and their data, but buried in the settings. The quick easy way to delete an app doesn’t always clear all data.

Welcome to your new motor. Hope you enjoy it as much as I am mine. Lots of tech stuff to get used to, spend hour or so with a coffee sat in the car working through the menus with phone & search-engine or the manual by your side (just in case). It will be time well spent. The internet connection in the car is primarily for the Škoda Connect services (Remote Access & Infotainment Online); the use of those services is subscription based after the first year. For Spotify etc. you'll need to use your phone and CarPlay or AndroidAuto; so either stream the music with your mobile data or cache the it on your device/app. There is an option to by a SIM Only package from Cubic which adds mobile data to the onboard eSIM - the car can then become a WiFi hotspot for all the phone & tablets you and passengers take in there. It is not necessary as most folk have an excess of data as part of their mobile package anyway.

Mine sometimes takes a while to come online, as per this info screen. Try resetting or uninstalling and reinstalling the app if it persists.

😉 I'm sure 6C would be a shock in most of Australia this time of year 😉 That aside, earlier this evening I had a fiddle... 6C outside set passenger side to 22C set driver side to 16C Clima on Auto my feet got cold; Mrs Steve's feet nice and toasty. In my car, the Clima system seems to behave as expected, so maybe @jimtheslim's car has an issue

Yes, it has the Smart Clima, but you can select 'Classic' for those non-Smart controls. Similar to what others have said, I set mine to 21 or 22 all year; rarely anything different - it's best 'Set it and Forget it' clima I've come across in a car.

I would go for the Mk4, a much nicer car and, in general, more fuel efficient too (though I guess if you're looking at the RS version, then drivability and handling will be your priority). Having good relationships with your local Škoda service area offers reassurance should any infotainment issues arise; the latest versions fixed them, and the seller ought to have them installed already. Rear space if OK, I am taller than you (6 feet 4 inches) and regularly drive long distances with 4 adults in the car. Mine is the estate version - lots of space in the boot 👍

I pay up for the subscriptions to Care Connect (driving data, alarm notifications, parking position, etc) and Infotainment Online (online voice control, map & traffic updates, etc). Whether they are considered value for money or not is an individual thing; for me, they are.

When I set mine up (nearly four years ago) I had to get my Škoda ID account verified by a dealer before I could do anything like see the vehicle location etc. even though I was the Main User in the car. By "verified" I mean that the Dealer had to confirm to the Škoda system that I was the legal owner of the car, and thus had the rights to see all the car details and information through the app. I assume (but don't know) it is still the same.

There's no on board storage nor an SD slot in the Mk4. So yes, a USB-C stick drive or Bluetooth or CarPlay/AndroidAuto.

The early (2020 especially) Mk4s had numerous flaws (including mine which spent 5 months at the dealers for diagnosis whilst a fix was developed) but not any of the issues you mention. I reckon a combination of the repairs and modifications have contributed; the advice from @TheWanderer to check your buyer legal rights and to potentially reject the car is a good call.

Not sure it is exclusively Vodafone - my Mk4 has had a perfectly viable internet connection (satnav) in areas where my mobile (on Vodafone) had none.

Eventually, I have received an email reply from Škoda Auto about the eSIM in the Mk4. It is reassuring... "We contacted our responsible department about your issue and received an information, that they would like to assure you that your Škoda Octavia Mk4, equipped with a 4G LTE eSIM module, should remain fully compatible with the Škoda Connect services. The 2G/3G network shutdown in Great Britain is not expected to occur before 2030, and 4G LTE is not impacted by this change." ... and relax 😎

The Mk4 VBF supports are built on to the car similar to the Mk2, and sounds like the Mk1 too.

On my pre-FL mk4 Estate I have the VBF. It is useful to be able to slide things in as it brings the floor level to that of the lower edge of the tailgate opening. But, and it is a big BUT, the rear seat backrests do not fold flat (they did in my old Mk2 'cos the seat tipped forward) so the large flat area isn't so large; rendering the VBF near useless (for me). Thus, I would rather have a pull-out washable plastic boot liner than the VBF.

Only other things I can think of are to pursue it with Škoda UK, Škoda Connect service desk, &/or report it as a bug in the app. Could try emailing support[at]skoda-auto.com who are AIUI based in Europe and a step closer to Škoda Connect than Škoda UK are.

The length of the Service History will be very different. According to your profile, your mHEV Octavia is a 2024 model; mine is a 2020 car with [I guess] considerably more miles/kms on it (currently at 54,000 miles). Looking at the Digital Certificate... Page 1: Vehicle description, VIN, engine specifications, model designation (trim level), and graph of mileage over time Pages 2 & 3: Service and warranty work history Pages 4 & 5: Standard Equipment. This lists everything from "Textile carpet mats" and "Adaptive cruise control" to "Bluetooth" and "Driver knee airbag" Page 6: List of Authorised non-warranty repairs Totally understandable, and that is what I see in my digital certificate on pages 4 & 5. Why I and some others get that information and you don't is the key question. Are you set up as the Primary User in the car with every thing synchronising? You should see distance driven, fuel consumption and driving data, vehicle location (when not moving), status of door locks and windows, when looking in the app.

Yes, there is an automatic adjustment of the VC brightness based on the brightness or otherwise inside the car. There is also a manual adjustment (in my 2020 SEL FE at least) under the menu Car - Settings - Interior - Ambient light. My guess is that the update fitted in yours was set to a different default to the previous.

Have you tried using voice control? In mine I just ask Laura to “play album name” and it plays all tracks as expected. I note you’re in France, I don’t know if voice control supports the French language as well as it does English; hopefully it does.
