Estate rear wiper blade - recommendations? Bosch A331H didn't work.
Just had a look at mine, and a couple of photos below. When refitting the A331H blade it needed a bit of a wiggle to push fully home. After the initial pressing in the lock catch to insert it into the arm, it then hit what felt like a ‘stop’, a slight pressure towards the rear screen allowed it to slot fully in and engage the locking catch.

Estate rear wiper blade - recommendations? Bosch A331H didn't work.
That’s odd. Changed mine about 18 months ago. The A331H fits fine on my 2020 SEL estate.

Headlight washers
Might be a different setup in NZ then, my UK SEL FE only washes the lights when they’re on - first time with the windscreen than every sixth (I think). To be honest I’d rather the lights are cleaned; and just thought - if the conditions are bad enough to need the washers then wouldn’t the bonnet will be filthy anyway?

Spare Wheel/Tyre
Further to my post above, I have a 16” steel rim with 205/55 tyre, it’s classed as a temporary spare as my road wheels are 205/55 17” - a different circumference. Looking in the wheel well, I reckon there is space for a slightly higher profile 205/60 16” . It’d be tight though. The toolkit insert fits fine under the boot floor no problem with the items I have. Part numbers are posted above.

SKODA OCTAVIA - DASHBOARD
There is quite a bit of new tech in the mk4 Octavia compared to previous models - and it can take a while to get used to it. My best advice is to be patient, take some time to go through all the menus in the infotainment system and configure it best you can referring to the manual for things that are not obvious (as was the case for me, switching from a Mk2 Superb to the Mk4 Octavia SEL FE). Once set up to your liking it's dead easy to use. The Lane control can be tedious, irritating, down right annoying, or a useful safety feature. All opinions are valid and rehearsed many a time in this forum over the four years of so of the Mk4 (There many strong opinions expressed over the years!). Personally, I rarely get wound up by it nowadays as I have learnt to know the types of scenario it will try to do what it's programmed to do yet - as an example, when a single lane becomes two lanes mine tries to keep me central between the white lines whilst I'm choosing to take one of the two lanes ahead well before the central line appears. Yes, another thing to anticipate but soon get used to it. I have turned off the steering wheel vibration (which stays off thankfully). As for the Infotainment being a distraction, that lessens with familiarity. If your car has voice control then start using it, so much easier for radio, music, temperature control. Similarly with CarPlay or AndroidAuto - the voice control is a big help.

Second Hand Car - Never been Update (Infotainment systems - 1803)
Hi, You don’t mention if your mobile is Android or iOS. Early versions didn’t support wireless AndroidAuto, later one do. iOS should work wirelessly with older infotainment versions.

My Skoda App (Android)
Yep, but the online route allows change of Škoda ID too.

My Skoda App (Android)
Go to https://skodaid.vwgroup.io and log in, under the Contact Info section tap your email address, then Change email. I did it about 18 months ago. There were a few emails to old and new addresses checking that it was me changing it and confirming I actually want to do it. Then had to update the settings in the car and app.

battery change
A couple of long runs seems to have done the trick. I hadn't realised SWAMBO was taking it in for a service this week and she asked them to test the battery - all OK. We'll keep an eye on it over the next few weeks as well just in case but I reckon a series of short trips with aircon at full tilt probably took the edge off and not enough to recharge it sufficiently. Thanks all for your help and advice.

Spare Wheel/Tyre
My 2020 Octavia Mk4 SEL FE has 17" alloys as standard but last September (2023) I managed to get a space saver 16" steel wheel and tyre plus the toolset from my dealer, i.e. everything you need. The parts were... 5E0601011J - 16" wheel 5E0093860E - Sp. Wheel Set Total price was £190.00.

Video input to Infotainment?
Video can be played from a file on a USB-C source connect at the ports in the front console. However, the image is not displayed whilst the car is moving, audio continues. This was the case on earlier versions but haven’t proven it on v1941.

OCU - Update
Wow! That's a lot of €€€ ☹️ @Robert323 Welcome to Briskoda forums - but it's better to post in English as the majority of users here use that language - and it's in the rules...(https://www.briskoda.net/forums/guidelines/)

OCU - Update
I had to get my dealer to verify I was the owner of the vehicle and in some way approve my Škoda ID to become the man user. I guess it's to do with the privacy laws because as the main user can track the vehicle through the app. Perhaps the same applies in your location.

battery change
Thanks very much for all the replies. Brings back lots of memories plus some learning of new factors. The last time I changed a battery was in the 1970’s 😱 Think I’ll get it checked, see how it stands up to a load, and then decide what to do. Thanks again

battery change
Other half's 67 plate CitiGo shows sign of the battery is getting 'tired' and I reckon it could do with a swap before the winter sets in. The car does not have the Stop/Start trickery. So, a numpty question. Would I be right in assuming this is a simple DIY job (I have done very little with a car in the last 20 years 🙄) or will it need [VCDS] coding and/or radio re-enabling etc. Thanks.

remote add destinations to Columbus navigation?
In theory a route can be planned in the app and sent to the car satnav system. However, it isn’t available on the early builds such as my 2020 SEL First Edition - despite it being splattered over the brochure 🙄

ACC is working correctly on trip to Europe!
Yep, systems seem more reliable in mainland Europe; my first trip in my 2020 SEL FE was in April ’22 on a much earlier version. All was fine - ‘till I got back on the M20 when the ACC thought I was still on the Autoroute des Anglais. Now on 1941 and only the occasional glitch with ACC in UK.

Waze only working with Offline Maps
Hmm… damned frustrating! Interesting. Mine streams music etc fine (but I don’t use Waze) when on CarPlay, so I guess it is using Bluetooth only. Must remember to check when Mrs Steve gets back…

Waze only working with Offline Maps
Could try restarting the app &/or phone; if that fails try a reset of the app (or remove and reinstall it).

Stuck on 1896. Can I update to 1941 at home
Take a look at this thread - It’s about v1969 but on the first page has reference to 1941 too. Note that any DIY update would be at your own risk.

Dashcams
The usb-c port is in the side of the mirror ‘base’, on the right hand side (drivers in UK). A short cable (~30cm) is available on Amazon but the ones I got were about 5mm too short for my NextBase. In the end I gave up and use a longer one and a zip tie to hold the excess neatly in place. BTW, I have the dashcam on the passenger side away from the port.

Visually etc. My car of the day -today
Alas no photos 'cos I was driving, but was spoiled today... Firstly, was overtaken by an Alpine A110 in that gorgeous metallic blue; then a beauty from the past in the form of a V12 Jaguar XJS Convertible. But the best was a very well restored/preserved Mk1 Golf GTI

Where's Laura 🤷♂️
Interesting… I gave up on internet radio about three years ago, but had 1941 installed a few months back - maybe I’ll try again.
