Infotainment System Restarting endlessly
Could use your smartphone to video the restarts - I have proven its usefulness in demonstrating issues to the dealer.

Infotainment System Restarting endlessly
If you're buying through your local(ish) Škoda dealer then all the software updates should be applied, plus a bunch of other stuff... Being armed with the info as to what updates to expect is important. The post from @spcdust in the thread about red flags is a good resource.

Infotainment System Restarting endlessly
Sounds very much like we have been on the same road! Same model of car except mine was registered Sept 2020 (bought it as ex-management car March '21), potentially an even earlier build. At Škoda UK request my dealer had the car to use so they could diagnose faults, and then was a guinea pig for a fix(es). Thankfully Škoda UK funded a dealer provided loan car, another Octavia Estate, a 1.0 e-Tec SE FE which was faultless, for 5 1/2 months and 8500 miles! That, plus a few more updates on the way to Infotainment v1941 has given me a great car... I feel for @TheWanderer. Sounds very much like the accident repair and/or the dealer have screwed up your RS. Your frustration must be nearly off the scale...

Potential purchase - any red flags here?
Yep, what @spcdust said; spot on advice.

Octavia Style MK4 2021 multimedia screen (infotainment) gone crazy
Could it be that the on/off touch button has fingerprints or other muck on it? Or maybe the touchscreen. Perhaps try cleaning them.

Front windscreen wipers.
Welcome to the forums; hope you enjoy your Octy as much as I do mine! As @RADIOTWO mentioned, it is normal for the wipers to not wipe when the car is stationary if the switch is in the first, 'Auto' position. Bit disconcerting at first but soon get used to it. At times I find myself switching to the next position when at traffic light or similar, then back to Auto.

Potential purchase - any red flags here?
As @Edela mentioned, I suggest you get the S/W up to at least 1941 before buying. Mine is a 2020 SEL FE Estate, works perfectly fine now (with 1941). I'm very happy with the car, comfortable, roomy, economic.

SKODA OCTAVIA - DASHBOARD
Today I tried using voice control for Recirculation. Works fine turning it on and off. Works for AirCare too. But yes, once you know where buttons are it's quicker to use them.

Virtual cockpit configuration screen
Mine is a 2020 1.5 TSI and. I get similar menus to those in the video above; yours is a 2024 FL (based on profile info) so I guess its more to do with that.

SKODA OCTAVIA - DASHBOARD
Have you tried voice control for that? I use VC quite a bit for the clima/AC but rarely use recirculation.

Interior lights queation
Sorry for late reply. Yes, the 'Car/open door' is a touch button. Should toggle between being illuminated orange (lights don't come on when opening a door) and not illuminated (lights do come on when opening the door). By the sound of it, could be that yours is faulty.

Tablets, bluetooth and the infotainment
I believe an iPad can be used for CarPlay, using USB cable connection. I haven’t tried it but did read about it online a week or two back. If it works for an iPad, I wouldn’t be surprised if Android Auto works with tablets too.

Second Hand Car - Never been Update (Infotainment systems - 1803)
Totally agree. Despite (or because of) working in IT since the late ‘80s I wouldn’t attempt a DIY update to my car. For me, it’s a simple risk analysis - if I screw it up then the consequences are catastrophic! Whilst I would not, others may choose to take the risk…

PDC absolutely crazy
You guys are getting me worried! To date the PDC on my 2020 SEL 1st Ed has been 100% reliable and accurate. I feel the need to avoid complacency!!!

Daft air vents - Octavia Mk4
Side vents I leave aiming at the side windows to ensure they don’t steam up. Central vents I tweak according to heating or cooling requirements. Yes, can get a cold arm from time to time but a nudge to redirect the flow a little and it’s fine. I’ve not had an issue with the centre vents always being cold.

MK3 vs MK4 spare wheel well shape/size?
This thread might shed some light… Im not sure if the e-Tec MHEV has a reduced boot space or not; hopefully someone on here can help with that.

In recent years the only time I have experienced out of date data was being told a main road was closed for three days after it had reopened - and that was google maps. I always turn off camera info anyway, that’s what speed limit signs are for and I believe speed cameras are a a). an excuse to break the law between them and b). a danger when drivers brake hard to get down to the limit before a camera. Anyway, none of this helps the OP fix his problem…

In your opinion. In mine, not so. Good job we’re all different else life would be boring… I prefer the routing algorithm and spoken directions in the built in system, then it’s Apple Maps, and a distant third Waze; can’t abide Google Maps these days. A friend uses the TomTom app and rates it highly - might give that a go.
