  1. Cheers mi dears. Yes on the Superb it's easy to pop off..... There is a small slit along the edge of the panel for a screwdriver to fit in so as to prise it open to access the fuse box.
  2. Our's has only had one issue where it would only play music from the memory card out of the left hand side speakers of the car. A factory reset of the PID cured it. It even reads out text messages i receive on my iPhone!!!! (Which the factory fit BT & Columbus in my Superb Elegance doesn't as the iPhone doesn't use rSAP).
  3. Just a quick one..... Going to be fitting a dashcam to our Citigo after crimbo and wanted to know if the panel at the driver's end of the dashboard can be easily removed. I'm thinking of placing the 12v socket in there, like i have done on my Superb, so that it's just above the fuse box in the Citigo etc.... I didn't want to go forcing it and breaking it if it's not easily removed / put back. (On the Superb the fuse box is behind it so it's pretty easy to remove and put back etc....) I've attached a pic of the panel in question..... Cheers.
  4. Little update for today.... The mrs has asked for a dash cam for the Citigo for crimbo so i've been looking at various options. I already have a Mobius in the Superb so that was my preferred option but after having a try at seeing if a Mobius camera would fit behind the rear view mirror (Using a spare mount and the camera out of my car) it became apparent that the mobius won't fit in the space available.... Obviously the sensor filled mirror on the Superb is further away from the windscreen. Anyway after having a look online at various sites i've decided to go for a Blackvue DR-450 which are currently available for £127 on Amazon. (Looks like Halfords are price matching them too if you're not an Amazon fan). Camera will be arriving tomorrow but it'll be getting wrapped up so further updates will come along after crimbo.
  5. Let us know the part number when you get it..... And let us know how the swap goes.
  6. That's what I'm thinking myself.... It doesn't look to be anything too difficult to replace...... Famous last words.
  7. Thanks guys. Glad I'm not the only one with the issue. The handle does move the 'hook' but only about 80% of what it should hence me using a long screwdriver to just move the 'hook' it's full travel and open the bonnet. (Basically the lever would still only move it around 80% of its travel allowing me to move it the further 20% myself and that was when I had the bonnet lifted). I'll have a look at giving the mechanism a clean up and then drown it in lubricant to try and loosen it up before applying white grease.
  8. Hi all, I seem to have a problem when trying to open the bonnet but not what appears to be the common problem of the release cable snapping..... When I pull the lever in the car the bonnet pops up fine but then when I put my hand under the front of the bonnet and lift the lever under there it isn't moving the catch enough to clear the bar fixed to the car. I noticed the last few times I lifted the bonnet that it was getting difficult to get it to clear it but today I had to use a long screwdriver to push the catch right the way over and clear enough to then lift the bonnet up. I had already sprayed some WD40 silicon spray on the mechanism but it doesn't seem to have worked too well. Anyone any advice or is it a case of replacing the mechanism that you use to actually release and then raise the bonnet. As I say the bonnet pops up fine so the cable etc.... Is all fine and not what is at fault. Cheers.
  9. Cheers for that. I’ve since found quite a few people saying the crash sensor can be triggered easily by loud music so this has put me off the camera as the mrs has her music playing very loud so I think a few minutes of Foo Fighters or Green Day will be setting it off left, right and centre. I’m just hoping there is enough space behind the rear view mirror to fit a mobius as the mirror in the Citigo is a lot closer to the windscreen than the one in the Superb. Going to try tomorrow with a spare mount I have and the mobius from out of my superb. If not it’ll be back to the drawing board and more camera research.
  10. I’ll only be using a piggyback fuse for the hardwiring in the fuse box area and I already know the fuse box lid won’t fit back on due to its small size.
  11. I was thinking about doing this myself..... Not sure if I've got one of the longer OEM aerials in the shed from our old vRS cars..... I've noticed a couple of Up! and Citigo cars around Sheffield with the longer style OEM aerial fitted too so obviously a commonly used remedy. I raised the issue under warranty when ours had it's first service in September and the dealer said they re-terminated a connection and it seemed slightly better afterwards but we've noted more recently that it's the same as it was before again. Yes it's the same radio with the same technicians menu available.
  12. Using this method will obviously mean you can't listen to the radio as you will have the HU set to the AUX input...... The only two ways around this would be to play any music you wanted from the phone at the same time..... Or have the radio on as normal and the phone not connected to the HU. This would then mean you would have the sat-nav directions coming out of the phones built in speaker.
  13. Yep..... It's the media button as per this pic I found. (And the AUX socket bottom right too).
  14. HU = Head Unit..... i.e. the radio in the dash. I can't remember the exact name on the button but it's something like "media" each time you press it it changes from CD to AUX to PORTABLE (the PID) etc, etc...... The AUX socket is the small what looks like a headphone socket bottom right of the HU.
  15. Going to be hard wiring a dash cam in shortly so this'll come in handy.
  16. I'd go with Nightbreaker Laser bulbs (latest variant)..... Or if not Nightbreaker Unlimited bulbs (Older variant). Both are big improvements on the OEM bulbs. Whilst out and about in our Citigo I've overtaken citigo cars with obviously OEM bulbs in them on the motorway at night.
  17. Just buy a phone holder....... Connect the phone to the HU via the AUX in socket on the front and then switch the HU to the AUX input.... Your directions will then come through the car speakers.
  18. Yes.... Buy a phone holder for your iPhone..... Either connect to the HU via cable or BT and use the iPhone for sat-nav with the HU on the AUX or BT input so the directions come out of the car speakers.....
  19. Radio text was introduced with 4120 which I've had on mine for three and a half years now.
  20. How do you find the picture quality of the F50? I'm looking for a camera for the Citigo and was looking at reviews which seemed good at first but most say the night time quality is very poor. Bearing in mind the car does a bit of motorway driving in the hours of darkness it needs to be good at night. My other option will be to fit a Mobius like I have in the barge as the night quality on that is great (even on motorways).... And pricewise it comes out at around £80 for everything needed to hardwire into the car so pretty much the same as the F50.
  21. I don't think the two LEDs in each bulb being slightly dimmer is making a noticeable difference i just think the bulbs are of a much lower lumen output than the ones i have already. I think if you have gone straight from the OEM bulbs to the Osram LED bulbs you will indeed think they were good. But going from the LED bulbs i got from HIDS Direct to these there is a massive drop in light output / brightness which will be very noticeable on bright sunny days when it may well look as though the DRLs aren't lit at all. I had a similar problem with the original LED DRLs i put in the Superb.... They looked great till the summer then you couldn't tell they were lit. The one's i have in there now are great and look like they are factory fit LED DRLs.
  22. Ok the Nightbreaker Lasers and the Osram Premium LED bulbs arrived this afternoon. I've put the laser bulbs in and will keep the Nightbreaker Unlimited bulbs as backups. (The laser bulbs give an extra 20% light output compared to the unlimited bulbs so probably won't notice much of a difference between the two but obviously much better than the OEM bulbs). As for the Osram Premium LED DRL bulbs...... I took one of the existing LED DRLs out and put the Osram bulb in and what a difference!!!!! For the worse!!!!! The Osram bulbs are only outputting around two thirds the light that the existing LED bulbs I got from HIDS-Direct give out. (It's as though the Osram bulbs are in the dimmed mode when the headlights are on). I tried taking them out and putting the bulbs in the holder 180 degrees different in case that was the issue but still the same. They just aren't as bright. Closer inspection showed that both the bulbs seem to have two of the six LEDs not lit as brightly as the other four. Whether that's a design thing or both bulbs are faulty I don't know but it's very disappointing. I've completed a return for the LEDs with the reason being performance being too poor and Amazon have accepted the return so I'll send them back to them tomorrow for a full refund. So I guess I'm back to having the HIDS-Direct LEDs in and when the bright summer days come along I'll revert back to the OEM bulbs for the summer months.
  23. I doubt very much the OP is still breaking a car nearly 14 months after posting this thread.
  24. Ordered a pair of Nightbreaker Laser bulbs today to upgrade the Nightbreaker Unlimited bulbs that are in the headlights at the moment, along with a pair of Osram LED bulbs for the DRLs. Will see how they are compared to the LED DRLs I have in at the minute. I must admit the Osram ones look a little more OEM looking so hopefully they'll be just as bright, or better still, brighter. Should arrive tomorrow. The PID had a moment yesterday too. On the way to work last night it never gave any camera warnings..... Same as i left work this morning too..... On the way home I checked if the SD card audio was working ok which it was and then all of a sudden the camera warnings started back up a again!!!!
  25. No worries glad it went well.
