  1. yes Q has always been rented equipment since it launched. Does of course mean unlimited replacements for failures whether in or out of contract.
  2. There's nothing set in stone as yet for time scales but a few quotes circulating from Sky saying that there will be an exchange program in place ready for the greater availability of HDR content. The people on the phones now won't have anything in place at present so will indeed charge for the replacement..... Unless of course your v1 box was to suddenly start going faulty and start getting very warm and be resetting very often for instance then you could arrange replacement of your obviously faulty v1 box. Obviously nothing to confirm you wouldn't get another v1 but pretty unlikely.
  3. And for anyone going into meltdown because they have a v1 2tb box which isn’t compatible there is a box exchange program planned before the launch of the other parts of the HDR service whereby users will be able to get a newer compatible box.
  4. Our lad has one of these and it does the job great for a penny less than a tenner. Also from Argos. just plugs into the controller. https://www.argos.co.uk/product/5637715?clickSR=slp:term:xbox headset:19:125:2
  5. Afternoon all, Just a heads up, for those that hadn’t seen the various press releases, that Sky launched its HDR service on Sky Q yesterday with a low key launch. Only three series are currently available in HDR and all are from the new Sky Nature channel, (Gangs of Lemur Island, Wilderness Reborn and Malawi Wildlife Rescue). Third party apps such as Netflix, Disney + and YouTube will be updated in the coming couple of months so that their HDR content can also be accessed. Sky Cinema will launch it’s HDR library in time for the Christmas period and sports coverage in HDR is currently lined up for the rescheduled Olympics. HDR content is accessed via the download option rather than on the channel itself and a UHD subscription is required along with a compatible Q box. Having had a quick watch the quality seems pretty good but I’m looking more towards the cinema and sports launch and Netflix app update myself.
  6. If that's the case that would explain why it isn't affecting all users and isn't a system wide software issue as they were saying previously as it can be rectified by what seems like clearing your connection and defaulting to factory settings before reconnecting again.
  7. Unfortunately I suspect it’s the card reader that is faulty then.
  8. Which HU do you have? And how old is the car? I've put all kinds of SD cards in ours (Kingston & Sandisk and bought from Amazon) which is a Radio Swing Plus HU with no issues. Sounds more like the SD reader might be faulty in the HU. Only thing i can think is to check that they are formatted in FAT or exFAT?
  9. We have a 19 plate and i thought i'd order one of the new style washer fluid caps/cups for it. The dealer website says it is for all Fabia models 2014 and later so i ordered two, one for the Fabia and one for my mk2 Superb even though it wasn't listed as a compatible model. Anyhow they have arrived today and i fitted one to the Superb fine. Came to fit the Fabia one and as soon as i opened the bonnet i realised that the washer cap is only a couple of mm below the bonnet strut when it is in it's storage clip. I can't see how the replacement cap is going to fit when it is approx 20mm high from top to bottom. I'm wondering if they have changed the height of the washer inlet pipe so it sits higher now on newer cars??? Has anyone fitted one of these onto a 19 plate or newer car?
  10. Two questions....... 1. Why did you post this three times? and 2. Why are they all entitled “Charlie”? 🤔
  11. On iOS it doesn’t work like that. They send you an invite to install the software via the Apple TestFlight app. Not sure about Android but I’m assuming it’s done a similar way.
  12. Not just me that gets given the use of the wife’s car when it coincidently needs filling up then? 😁
  13. interesting...... So if it is a software issue as Skoda are saying then it must be only affecting systems that are connecting to a certain handset or iOS version....... Or as FG says could it be the cabling between the socket and the HU that is at fault depending on what quality of cables the current batch are when they are installed in the car in the factory? It certainly doesn't seem as simple as first suggested and may explain why it's taking them so long to try and rectify.
  14. Just wanted to add details of our system which as mentioned previously doesn’t seem to stutter....... Do these match up with others‘ systems which are having issues?
  15. yes could well be the cabling from the USB socket to the HU.
  16. You need to adjust the volume as the voice is talking. So get the system to say something that you are having difficulting hearing and while it is talking just roll the volume roller up on the steering wheel controls. This is the same as when you are using the handsfree or sat-nav via CarPlay etc....
  17. Our 19 plate Colour Edition came with the ice scraper. It's a lime green / luminous yellow colour.
  18. I know Skoda have admitted that they have an issue with Apple CarPlay that they are dealing with but if that is the case why isn't it affecting all models or all models with a specific HU? Just out of interest here..... Do you guys that have the stutter issue have the Amundsen or the Radio Swing Plus. Our colour edition has the Swing Plus and as I've mentioned earlier doesn't have the stutter issue when using an iPhone 8 Plus and an iPhone SE both running iOS 13.3.1 If you guys are also using the Swing Plus and get the issue then to me it proves it can't be the software (Unless it is a software issue that only affects certain handsets or iOS versions) and could indeed be a HU issue. The only other issue that could cause it is the cable being used. (I have used an Anker 30cm lightning cable). Maybe this is something you guys could go back to Skoda with..... Pointing out that others are not having the issues at all so is not a universal fault/issue at all.
  19. Daft question but have you put any glasses in the sunglasses storage box????? I could hear a rattle for days in ours when we first got it and couldn't work out where it was coming from. I was ready to book it in to be looked at when i realised the Mrs had put some sunglasses in the sunglasses holder and it was the glasses that were rattling inside. A quick re position of them and the noise stopped.
  20. I thought the phone had to be unlocked for it to connect. So either unlock it then connect the cable or If you connect the cable with the phone locked you need to just unlock it then it'll connect. Or it could also be a dodgy cable.
  21. Very strangely another instance of using CarPlay without any stuttering again today. Again it was using my iPhone 8 Plus and was again listening to music that was already downloaded to the phone on Apple Music. Is this what others are using when getting the stuttering? I.e. listening to music already downloaded to the phone via Apple Music rather than streaming to the phone via Apple Music? This is now the last two times i've not had any issues and both times it's been when listening to albums i'd already downloaded to my phone rather than streaming music on Apple Music which is when i've had stuttering before. (The same Anker 30cm lightning cable has been in use since getting the car). And it's a Radio Swing Plus rather than the optional Amunsden. Other than that i'm not sure why ours has stopped stuttering???
  22. Strangely I used CarPlay for the first time in ages yesterday with my iPhone 8 Plus and I didn’t notice any stuttering when playing music via Apple Music during the half an hour or so I was using it. The only change is that I’m now on iOS 13.3 Anyway it looks like it’s not just Skoda owners who are having issues and in this case it looks like an iOS issue....... https://www.redmondpie.com/some-iphone-11-users-are-experiencing-audio-issues-with-wireless-carplay/
  23. Anyone had any further update from the dealers now we’re in the new year?
  24. I'd try a couple of ferrite cores on the power cable to the camera as a first attempt. They can be had for about 50p each. I put one at each end of my dashcam power lead the other week after replacing my failed Columbus unit in my Superb with a newer unit that had DAB as well as FM/AM. Went from pretty much no DAB stations to everything available.
  25. Another satisfied customer here..... The Rev.A Columbus in my Superb locked up last Monday and after PMing him on here Andy helped me via PM initially to ascertain that it was the main board that had gone. So, after confirming he had a unit available to purchase, a couple of days later on the Friday I had a trip up to visit him and in no time at all the old faulty Columbus was out of the car and a lot newer Rev.N SSD / DAB unit was installed and coded in to the car. As the existing unit was only FM/AM he also ran the new DAB antenna in for me behind the dashboard and up the 'A' pillar ready for me to fix into place once I had decided where to position it. After saying my thank-you's and goodbye's I pulled over in a lay-by just down the road from Andy to set the new unit up as the old unit had been before then heading back down the A1 and whilst i was parked up I received a call from Andy telling me he had just driven past and asking if everything was OK and if i needed any help. Now that's what i call service!!!!!! 👍👍👍 I can safely say I'd have no hesitation in recommending Andy and his excellent service and assistance. Thanks again. 👍
