  1. Does this serve any purpose? located above the two USB ports and storage tray? Is it meant to do something like light up or blow air through it (Like the newer Tiguans) because it does nothing on my January β€˜22 MY22 vRS.
  2. I subscribe to Care Connect and Infotainment Online each year...... If you keep looking on the app you'll see these go on sale every so often so you can get them for a reduced price each time rather than full price. You also don't need to be close to renewal time either as they just add the new 12 months on to the end of your current subscription. This year I paid something like £45 in total for them both. I was under the impression though that things like the road sign recognition thing (I don't have this available to purchase as mine is a January '22 car) were one off payments not annual subscriptions..... I know the lighting purchase is a one-off as I have bought it myself. I know we complain about the cost of these and that they're not worth it but something people might not be aware of though is how cheap we actually get these things compared to the other VAG marques...... A work colleague has an RS6 and has the Audi version of our Skoda App on his iPhone. We compared them both and they give pretty much the same info but just laid out in a slightly different way. He liked the idea of the Infotainment Online that I had so purchased the Audi equivalent so that he too got constantly updated maps, traffic updates, set destination on phone and send to car, etc........ and it cost him just over £100 for the year!!!!!!!! I had just paid £30 for my Infotainment Online (which does all the same things) a couple of weeks previously whilst it was on sale. 😁
  3. But the OP's car isn't a facelift it's a mk4 so a 245PS...... As per their pic of it.
  4. You're showing us screens for the Skoda Connect but then the data package purchase not for Skoda Connect purchase which are two totally separate services. Skoda Connect gives you the services in the first image...... The data packages service just means you buy data so that you can use your car as a wi-fi hotspot for passengers in the car whilst on journeys. Which one have you actually purchased?
  5. That's just a normal mk4 not a facelift. The Infotainment is also the older one as fitted to the mk4 rather than the newer Infotainment fitted to the facelift cars. πŸ‘
  6. That build date seems too early to be a FL car..... Could you put a photo on here to show the front end and the Infotainment system?
  7. I’ve always gone on the point that the data supplier VAG use (Cubic Telecom) piggy back on the Vodafone network in the UK but they may have a backup agreement to roam onto another UK network as/when required.
  8. Wasn't the intermittent front assist alarms/warnings more to do with cold mornings and condensation/frost on the front of the car? Or am I thinking of something else?
  9. Not an issue for us mk4 owners but what they say about the 2G/3G is only partially correct. The UK networks as a whole will all turn off their 2G/3G networks by 2030 but the network that Skoda (Probably the whole VAG range) use in the UK are Vodafone........ And they turned their 2G/3G networks off last summer in the UK.
  10. No they just use standard CR2032 batteries so definitely not wireless charging capable.
  11. If only someone at VAG had had a sense of humor and made the 3-digit code for cold country "BRR". 😁
  12. Was worth a try..... Said it was a daft question. πŸ™‚
  13. Within the Traffication app you can change whether you receive notifications or not..... Open the app and touch the 3 lines button top left. select settings then you can turn notifications on or off and turn Audible notifications on or off.
  14. To change what options you have available within each dial you have to make one of them "settings" and then go within that to then add or remove a tick box for which different things you can select in the dials.
  15. Had the car since April 2024 and it came with 1941 installed..... Never had the 1969 update pushed out at any point so I didn't bother installing it myself. Took it in to the local dealership to book in a couple of warranty jobs before the original 3 year warranty ran out at the end of January and the service guy mentioned there was an update due to come out to the car and he was just letting me know and a couple of weeks later it said it wanted to download and install 1985. Downloaded it whilst travelling to work one morning (Half hour drive) then I nipped out on a break mid morning and set it installing. Came back out at lunch to check and it was all done and ready to go. Driven a good 500+ miles since then and touch wood seems good. Having only had the car coming up to a year part of me thinks the plan of no more updates really shows my car is already out of date but I suppose it also means they must be happy all bugs have been squashed and I'd hope if something big did come to light another update would be pushed out if required.
  16. Looking at my digital certificate it weirdly only gives some of the optional extras the car has..... It says it has the heated windscreen and heated windscreen washer jets but nothing else when in reality it has the heated windscreen and washer jets along with Heated rear seats, heated steering wheel and tri-zone climate control....... Although are they all part of the Winter Pack+ so is the app saying heated windscreen and washer jets instead of Winter Pack+? The last time I looked was just after I bought the car in April when it was just over 2 years old and the digital certificate gave me next to nothing. My details must have eventually moved over as it now has 6 pages including all the warranty jobs / Recalls / Software updates it has had done prior to me owning it plus all it's services and the Ceramic glaze I got thrown in for free as part of the approved used deal.
  17. Daft question...... Have you confirmed it's the holder itself and not the glasses inside? Both the one in the wife's Fabia and mine make a slight rattle depending on how the glasses are positioned inside. It can be stopped by changing how you put the glasses in the holder but eventually they move around inside and start to rattle slightly again.
  18. Looks to now be sorted. I wasn't aware that there are two different brightness adjustments available through the Infotainment screen. I was aware of the one that only adjusts the Infotainment screen brightness under settings but I wasn't aware of the second setting under vehicle / interior / interior lighting which then adjusts the minimum brightness of the virtual cockpit screen. It looks like the VC module firmware update must have defaulted this setting after the previous owner had adjusted it to make the display brighter.
  19. Ahhhhh ignore that reply........ I went out to the car just now and realised the setting I was aware of was the one for just the Infotainment screen under the settings section. Looking at the image you posted I found a separate setting (But named Interior Lighting on my car rather than Ambient Lighting) and this looks like it does adjust the minimum brightness of the VC area. I've adjusted it up to 60% (In all the excitement of realising this worked I forgot what level it was on!!!! πŸ˜€) and it is now brighter than it was and something similar to what it was previously so yes it looks like when the VC module firmware was updated it defaulted this setting back which is what I was noticing. Thanks for hopefully sorting this out for me and stopping me looking like a plum if I'd gone back to the dealership. 😁
  20. I was under the impression that the VC screen brightness couldn't be adjusted via the brightness controls on the infotainment screen. When i adjusted them previously only the Infotainment screen brightness changed not the VC screen brightness. Can you confirm when you change those settings on yours your VC brightness also changes as well as the Infotainment screen?
  21. My January '22 vRS has recently had the virtual cockpit module firmware updated to resolve an issue with the LED gauges on either side intermittently flickering. Since this being done though I am having issues with the auto dimming/brightness of the cockpit display being dimmer than it was previously to such a degree that when driving on a couple of recent overcast/cloudy days the virtual cockpit and infotainment screens have dimmed down to such a point that they have been hard to see. This was only at around 3pm and the auto lights remained off at all times so that shows that it wasn't overly dull outside. I've also then noticed yesterday that when it was very sunny the display didn't seem as bright as it used to be on sunny days. Is it possibly something like after the update the module needed telling the car has sunset glass in the rear so that it compensates for the less amount of light inside the car and because this possibly hasn't been done it thinks it's darker outside than it actually is?
  22. OK..... A quick follow up with mine. Has anyone that has had this done noticed that the virtual cockpit is dimmer/less bright than it was before the firmware update was carried out? I've noticed mine is slightly darker/dimmer than it used to be and this is most noticeable when I've driven a couple of times on very cloudy/overcast days when driving through wooded areas and in the city centre with tall buildings and the cockpit display has dropped right down to it's lowest brightness as though it is night. I've also noticed it yesterday when it was very sunny and the display was again hard to read as it wasn't as bright as it used to be on very bright sunny days. This is also then adjusting down the infotainment screen brightness too but in all the cases the headlights never turned on at any point and the DRLs remained on as it was still only around 3pm. I notice the cockpit and infotainment screen are controlled by a light sensor somewhere around the virtual cockpit as I have shone my phone torch towards the dashboard at night and it brightens up as though it is daylight. The only brightness control you have is on Infotainment screen but this has always been on low and used to pretty much match the cockpit brightness but when driving at night is now actually slightly brighter than the cockpit display is..... This brightness control also only changes the infotainment screen anyway and doesn't affect the cockpit screen at all. Is it something as simple as when doing the update mentioned above that they should have told the virtual cockpit module that the car has privacy/sunset glass in the back so the interior is darker? (It's a VRS so has this as standard) so that the sensor takes this into account and without being told this the car thinks it's getting darker outside so drops the brightness more than it should and stops it getting that bit brighter than it should be when it is sunny outside?
  23. Just another thanks for @varooom for this post. As I posted a few months ago I’d noticed my January 22 vRS doing this. I’ve had the car 9 months now and it’s happened a few times both in the day and at night (maybe around 8 or 9 times in total) Anyway it has been in to the dealer today for a couple of warranty jobs before the original warranty finishes on the 20th of January (I still have another 15 months of Approved Used warranty but wanted to sort these while it still had the original warranty) and the dealership confirmed this TPI and that the firmware did indeed need updating and have therefore updated it today so hopefully no more flickering gauges.
  24. I did a bit of digging when i first got my January 22 built car earlier this year..... The data provider that Skoda use are called Cubic Telecom..... When i dug into which UK mobile network Cubic use it comes back that they use the Vodafone network. Now according to numerous articles online Vodafone switched off their 3G network earlier this year in the summer so to me that says that my car, and i'm assuming all the mk4 Octys, have a 4G sim installed as i'm still getting auto map updates (October was the last one i got). I've also noticed the warning about the Care Connect package not being available after 2024 have gone and there is no mention of it now..... Was the notice put out in error for the mk4 Octy I wonder?
