I'd be tempted to download the pukka service manuals and check them myself to confirm the dealer wasn't pulling a fast one as it has been known for them to give advice that differs from the official line.

Sounds like the dealer is taking you for a ride. A/C service will probably be a £4 bomb from Halford or similar and no gas recharge, brake fluid could be done but I'd expect it to be ok if they checked the water content and DSG oil shouldn't need changed.

That Fiesta looks like an original Supersport - I always liked them but it was not to be (I ended up with a Chevette...) EDIT: - looks like it could be as its an '82 1298cc according to the DVLA... if it isn't it's a decent copy.

Get them to check the propshaft couplings front and rear - it may not be those but they have a tendency to start to fail around 70k miles and exhibit a vibration at exactly the sort of revs you're talking about - most noticable under load and in a high gear

Ask for the dealer to confirm it in writing that the lack of a DSG service at the correct time will not affect any claims going forward and see what reaction you get. If they decline to do so that will show what they are up to. For reference we got our Kodiaq from Vertu (Bristol Street Motors as was) in Chesterfield and their after sales service with regards to a water leak into the boot was useless, showing little knowledge of the vehicle so I ended up fixing it myself.

The other possibility is that after the service you can use the chat function on the Skoda website to check it's been updated. I've certainly used it in the past for info about our Kodiaq.

We have an older manual 1.4tsi rather than the newer 1.5 (but it's the same power output) in a 4x4 Kodiaq. It's no rocket ship but it's more than sprightly enough, is absolutely fine for most running around. It's a really smooth engine and benefits from being given a bit of free reign so, whilst I was dubious coming from a more powerful TDi Octavia 4x4 with lots of low down grunt I think it suits the Kodiaq very well. In terms of economy it's not brilliant but not bad either. We've been getting early 40s on motorway runs from Yorkshire to Lancashire and down south and early 30's round town. In theory the 1.5 should be a touch better. However, at the end of the day it's a small petrol engine pushing a big car round that has the aerodynamics of a brick.

TBH.. if you only want it to ensure you can get about in winter weather and snow a haldex based system will do fine. We've had them for the last 17 years on the edge of the Pennines and never once got stuck in bad weather or snow.

If you pop the bonnet there'll be a sticker saying something like R1234yf... Which is the refrigerant type

Do you mind me asking what you paid - I have A/C on our Kodiaq that seems to be struggling at bit in the hot weather and the cost of refills with the R1234YF seems to be around £130 ish, which is quite a bit more than I paid for a regas previously

Just wondering before I book it in for a recharge... Did anyone else's Kodiaq struggle to get the cabin temperature down this last few days? It was about 29 degrees with us yesterday when I was out on site and the A/C was running flat out for about an hour and a half but couldn't get the cabin temperature down to below about 22. It seems better today but still not great. Also what have people paid for a recharge? I'm getting quotes of about £130 for the R1234YF it needs.

As a relative newcomer to the forum you will probably soon come to realise that thread drift is one of the great things about it and that's it's not strictly policed like some where only posts directly related to the subject are allowed... I've been here over 22 years from memory and it's a great place with a great community and members that are generally open, engaging and helpful with suggestions and comments. Anyhow, to turn back to the subject, I have no issues with stop start. 👍

Carburising is right but I know the process as Case Hardening. Definitely seems like a bearing manufacturing fault but at least you got it sorted.

We're you referring to my comment about reading the road? If so I stand by it - as I think it's unusual to have to stop for a second or less and then move off again, as was noted in the post I responded to, and such situations can generally be avoided by thinking ahead and anticipation.

I know what you mean and I'm not trying to criticise but in those situations I'd normally be anticipating things such that I don't necessarily have t come to a stop for a second at all, eg by slowing down a bit earlier and keeping rolling. However I accept there will always be situations where that's not possible of course.

Like others above I have no concerns with stop start and actually tend to worry more about whether something could be wrong when it doesn't kick in. But then those that seem to be bothered about it seems to be drivers of automatics and ours are manuals.

I'm on 18s but have Fallen FK520SUV and have been happy with them. Good grip,, excellent stability, even in heavy rain and quiet. They've been on about 20k miles now and still look to have a decent amount of tread left but I'll eventually put all seasons on.
