Crazy car design
Your gonna have to tell me more now... My sister's been looking at Tucson self charging hybrids to replace her old Kuga...

Crazy car design
I can see what you mean but yeah I quite like the boxyness of it... I also like the Kia Sorrento too. Maybe it's just me... 🤣

Crazy car design
Blimey... That's bad... I quite like the look of them too but if that's reality it's pretty off-putting

My 2023 MINI Cooper S Level 3 Electric leased from Motability which will be with me for 3 years & now a 2021 MG5 as a dog wagon.
Saw a new Mini Aceman electric last night... christ that thing is ugly... at first I thought it was some weird Toyota crossover.

Kodiaq - service and maintenance intervals
I tended to get the one on our Octavia 4x4 done every other service - so roughly every 25k to 30k miles or so and never had a problem so am following the same pattern with the Kodiaq. We got our 2018 car second hand with 18k on the clock and it had supposedly been fully serviced by the dealer so I had it done properly by an independent at 26k. It's recently had a second service with us at 40k so I'll get it done again next time round. However, I'm confident it's working OK at the moment as a month or so back it was happily spinning all 4 wheels in the snow as my wife tried to get it off our uphill driveway.

towbar release broken
I'm not sure to be honest as I'm not familiar with the mk4... My guess is that removing fuses will disable things but maybe create more warnings.

towbar release broken
The socket will have a part number on it but... eBay8 Pin Connector Wiring Harness Prewired Plug For Audi Sko...8 pin connector used on many vehicles in the VAG range.

towbar release broken
That sounds like a pretty poor response from the garage. They may not want the work but the pins and wires in those plugs and sockets can be removed and replaced and I'd bet you could get a new plug or even a second hand one from eBay or AliExpress. Doing so would allow you to transfer the wiring over to a replacement which would allow it to be reconnected potentially solving your problem.

The Chronicles Of Verity, The Skoda Octavia
Whereabouts are you based in Sheffield? I don't have VCDS but do have a VAG-specific Quicklynks T55 scanner that I used to successfully delete various codes on our pre-facelift 2007 Octy 4x4...

Photography Thread
I have a Nikon P60 for that sort of use. It's quite old now but is a cracking piece of kit with both an screen and a viewfinder which is unusual on a compact camera but why I bought it. Second hand they're about £50 tops.

Knocking Sound Under Bonnet – Need Advice!
Check the bonnet hinges for play when shut. I had an annoying rattle on my MX5 that turned out to be a worn hinge that was rattling slightly.

Recommended body shop in Sheffield/Chesterfield area
John Bee would be a bit more upmarket than Westside but as you say I codnt recommend them after an experience a long time ago when I got a repair back that leaked badly after they forgot to seal between body panels. Westside seem straight and down to earth though and I'd go back again with no qualms.

Recommended body shop in Sheffield/Chesterfield area
Do you mean paint spraying and bodywork or just detailing. If the former I've used two recently: Fix Auto near Malock who were good but slow on an insurance job but pretty expensive when I contacted them direct about another issue. Westside Motors in Sharrow, Sheffield who are a bit 'backstreet' but gave good results at very competitive prices the last twice I've used them.

Repair cost dispute
If that's the case and you know you haven't spilt anything then as said above reject the repairs they are suggesting in relation to the shifter - and maybe ask them slyly why they investigated something unconnected with your 12v issue without notifying you and what their technician has spilt 😁. Once you have the car back it should be possible to get someone else to scan for any shifter related codes, clear them (if the dealer hasn't already done so to cover their tracks) and see if they come back.

Repair cost dispute
In that case, and if everything is working as it should be (which I assume to be the case since it wasn't taken to the dealer for a fault related to the shifter), decline those particular repairs and ask for the vehicle back. Then carry on as normal? If necessary you could clean the area yourself and the relevant connectors but if there are no functional issues then leave them be. I may be, as @OccyVRS has suggested they plugged a code reader in and found a historic logged fault code that hasn't been cleared and is causing no issues but decided to investigate anyway off their own back to try and create some work / income..
