the truth about electric cars
Blimey - that's hideous! I hope Renault quality has improved significantly since the days of the Laguna that my FIL had...

Sump plug stripped
Now there's a blast from the past!! I was sponsored through Uni by Dowty... Working at the training centre and Fuel Systems in Cheltenham, Rotol at Staverton and Mining Equipment (next to Seals) at Tewkesbury over a period of 4 years... I still use my Dowty Seals mug coaster I 'found' to this day in my current job some 38 years later...

Blown bulb dash warning
Did you also check and replace the w3w bulbs in the rear lights?

Perfect service history, my ass!
That's fraud

Cold air breeze in OBD socket area
Added to the above I wonder if you have some loose trunking under the dashboard on that side that should be feeding one of the vents

Recomendations for Breakdown cover.
We gave up on the RAC earlier this year after a totally ridiculous renewal quote following year in year ratcheting of prices even though we'd never made use of their services. We're now with Green Flag who covered all three cars, including my 30 year old MX5 and both drivers in the UK and abroad to the same extent as the RAC for about a quarter of the price.

Goodbye Superb, hello Kodiaq
Nice choice... Hope you enjoy it. We've gone from Fabia Comfort estate to Octavia 4x4 and now Kodiaq 4x4 SE. All great cars in their own way.

Why ford, Whhhyyyy??
They may be slow to market but if the products are right and priced right they'll sell. Personally I've not been a fan of Fords in the past, partly due to bad historic experiences with them as well as not liking the cheap interiors and designs. The new European Explorer does seem strangely quite appealing though...

Start/Stop
Well it looks like we have the answer above the car doesn't recognise the handbrake being on so as soon as you lift your foot off the brake pedal it restarts. Strange and I think that is different to other auto cars I've driven!

Perfect service history, my ass!
Blimey... That looks like it's never been touched!!

ignition goes off quickly after driver door opening
Probably works off the seat occupancy sensor too....
-
Start/Stop
Try pressing the foot brake a bit harder before releasing it and make sure you don't move the steering wheel as not doing the first or doing the second seems to restart the engine on our Kodiaq.

ignition goes off quickly after driver door opening
Yes it's meant to do that and that quickly as it's a safety feature to stop the car accidentally running you over when you get out with the engine running. It seems to work based on distance from the car which is affected by the key being in your pocket.

Radio code
Pretty certain they don't need a code if they are in thier original vehicle as the car and radio recognise each other when both powered up

Road noise in cabin
The kuhmo's seem to have a noise rating of 72dB which seems quite loud and a couple of dB louder compared to other similar rated tyres (bearing in mind 3dB is a doubling in noise level). I know that is external noise level but even so it will probably translate to some degree to internal noise levels.

Water in Tailgate / boot door
Three options - lights on the boot, the rear screen seal and the rear wiper grommet (the latter was the issue on my Kodiaq.

the truth about electric cars
Thanks for your concern but I've seen first hand how well the Swift performs in an accident and that the safety kit on the version I have exceeds that on the NCAP test car(s), so I have no worries about using it with any of my family in it. I was also involved in a major motorway pile up on the M1 near London many years ago in a Mitsubishi Colt hatchback, well before NCAP was a thing, and it too performed well with none of the modern tech on-board, so again I have no real interest in what appear to be slightly flawed / skewed NCAP scores. In fact I believe you've said similar comments in other posts elsewhere regarding the Renault 5 and your Zoe:

the truth about electric cars
Not back... Your post just popped up and I couldn't resist given your apparent (lack of) intelligence led you to such a post. Also I don't know what your infatuation with the new Suzuki Swift is. I guess you're trying to have a personal dig but I really don't give a toss what you think or what the NCAP rating is... PS. Don't read too much into NCAP ratings as they tend to test base models that aren't to UK spec so are often lacking in safety equipment.

the truth about electric cars
Don't get me wrong I totally agree with what both of you are saying and agree some jobs do require driving with a boot full of kit etc. I was actually pointing out that jobs that some posters here do would often, in a 'normal' company, be required to be done differently and not by driving for hours and hours of unproductive time in a Renault EV driving to and from locations that are well served by PT and not in the middle of nowhere. Apologies to others but a certain poster lives in cloud cuckoo land in terms of his grasp on reality at times and what happens and what people do in the real world and real jobs! Ah sod it... I'm out of this discussion for a while... The crap being talked by certain posters and their blinkered view of life and reality is winding me up too much.

the truth about electric cars
In the 'real' world people aren't allowed to drive unless they absolutely have to - but are told to take a train and taxi's / PT instead so they can do productive work whilst on the train rather than sitting at 50mph driving somewhere for a few hours watching the world go by...

Superb 2 estate - boot wheel well filling with water
They are usually stick on foam or similar that perishes a bit. In the past I've sorted them by removing the lights and using a smear of windscreen sealant or silicon on them and then refitting.
