Im not sure he is TBH... Having driven quite a few autos I still very much prefer a manual but, as explained above, they are becoming much harder to find as manufacturers aren't making them even though they are wanted.

On a steep hill standard cruise control will not necessarily maintain a set speed as it relies on engine braking. On a motorway this is usually enough to keep a set speed as slopes are slacker but elsewhere on steeper inclines the car can go faster than the set speed. Believe me... I've tested it on a number of hills here. Active CC is very different and relies on radar distancing. It can also apply brakes and doesn't just rely on engine braking.

I beleive many of the issues VWG have in terms of software is because they decided in their wisdom to bring the software development for their vehicles in-house a few years ago, rather than continuing to use external specialist suppliers. They set up a whe new team in 2020 that were probably OK in terms of software but weren't experienced in terms of automotive software. This thread really is getting rather silly. I seriously doubt @ZJZ you will be able to tell or discern any difference between the higher load rated tyres and the lower load rated ones. If you can then the higher ones will be slightly stiffer and might have better steering feel. As a reference I have higher load rated tyres on both my Suzuki swift (Falken zeix 310), my Kodiaq (Falken Azenis FK510) and also had them on my Octavia 4x4 (Vredestien Sportrac and then Michelin Cross Climate) and they have all been excellent with no detrimental issues. Just buy what you think are the best balance of performance characteristics for you and don't worry about the load rating - the latter will make bugger all difference for 99.9% of your driving so isnt worth getting stressed about.

Having experienced exactly that on our previous MK2 Octavia I'd be 100% certain that's a worn rear prop shaft coupling. They are about £100 each but Skoda will only sell you a complete driveshaft and coupling assembly for about a £1000.

Personally I think black wheels look awful but each to thier own

I'm pretty sure that the non face-lift Mk1s in the UK had led lights apart from the SE (which I have but even then proper alignment and decent bulbs make them much better).

Re the auto playing of media / Spotify isn't there a setting in Android Auto itself - so on your device (not the car) go to Settings / Apps / Adndroid Auto / Additional Settings in the App ande de-select 'Start music automatically'

Just buy a new lever... The clip will come with it. But bear in mind it might not be the clip that is the issue. On ours then end of the spindle broke off meaning the clip had nothing to fasten to so it was the mechanism behind the handle that needed replacing.

As per the above - brakes, tyres, and Haldex would be my favourites alongside general condition / servicing. I'd not be bothered in the slightest about where it was serviced (I actually prefer local indie specialists over dealers). Also check the coolant header tank - I think you should be OK in that respect (no silica bag) but worth checking for the 'mit silikat' label and an signs of discolouration and that the A/C blows cold (I've just had to have our 2018 Kodiaq recharged for the first time as it wasn't) Other than that it's always worth checking if there are any 'optional extras' on it - we identified a few on ours which were 'nice to have's' an swung it for us.

@Graham Butcher have you looked at a 5 seat Kodiaq... Slightly shorter than a superb but a higher driving position and loads of space with the rear seats pushed back

I went up a load rating on our old Octavia 4x4 the first time I changed tyres on it and put cross climates on. We had it for over 13 years with no problems. I've done the same with the Swift and again no problems in the last few years.

If you use your VIN in the links on the website below you might find a bi more detail - my guess is that they are software or recall campaigns

Ones that I've done but can't remember how is enabling brake lights to be on when the boot is open. Seems daft but I figured it was more a safety precaution when I'm parked up and in and out of the boot on a dark night or unlit street. Plus cornering foglights

I keep looking at wind deflectors as I had some in a previous car but having read both your comments above I don't think I'll bother with them now

My initial guess would be low battery voltage given the variation in errors. Try using the car scanner app I stead of torque to check for errors

Sounds like the car thinks you may have opened a door - are your door locks wrking OK?
