Despite what lol-lol "cannot see"...

An outfit called Anderson, who make home charging points reckon a third of UK households don't have a driveway or garage to install a chargepoint on. However, it varies significantly, with only 1 in 6 (16%) in the countryside not having somewhere, rising to 60% in major towns and cities... Also London accounts for 78% of ALL on-street chargers... so you can guess what that means for the rest of the country, let alone places like Scotland!

If they start doing that then they need to start charging EV's for all the additional PM2.5 emissions from tyres. A recent Emissions Analytics survey showed tyre PM2.5 'emissions' (ie Non Exhaust Emissions) were 5 one thousand times higher than the test vehicle's exhaust emissions over the same journey. However, A typical EV SUV is 2.5tonnes to 3 tonnes vs around 2 tonnes for ICE vehicle and, as an example for cars, a Nissan Leaf is 1.7 tonnes vs 1.4 tonnes for a similar sized ICE vehicle. Factor that in and EV's create more NEE's and should therefore be being charged for the additional NEE pollution they cause...

Haven't used Racingline but did use Shark and as above was very pleased. I have looked on Racinglines website previously but no maps for a 150bhp 1.4TSi Kodiaq listed... only the 125bhp...

According to zapmap the nearest chargers to me are a 46 minute walk away

I think he's in cloud cuckoo land there with that one at the moment! Current guidance for workplace charging points generally specifies 5% to 10% pf spaces tops - and many of those are for future provision and won't have charging statins for years yet

I think you already have an answer... The cross climates are an excellent tyre and we used them for years on our Octavia 4x4. The only reason we don't still have some on one of our cars is that the Octavia's replacement, a S/H Kodiaq, came with a new set of the Falken's I mentioned earlier fitted. However the Swift we had is looking like it will need tyres very shortly and unfortunately the Michelins aren't available in the size needed. Given this I'll probably be looking to use some Vredestein Quatracs which are, having had excellent experiences of the brand in the past. They may be an option for you on your existing 17s as they tend to be a cheaper option than the Michelins, making up for the additional cost of the larger rim size

I believe JR was actually referring to homologated rim diameter and width and tyre width / profile and speed rating, as opposed to a specific manufacturer and tyre...

Another option for you - Falken Azenis FK510: Falken AZENIS FK510 215/50 R18 92W SUV @ mytyres.co.uk We have them on our Kodiaq and whilst I was dubious at first they are proving to be a very good tyre

This is going to sound daft but I have a vague recollection that in one of the radio settings you need to tick a box to enable AM reception...???

Probably both but they need to be bright enough and positioned correctly to illuminate the area you are reversing into in the dark...

Yep... For some reason the lower specs get a single light on the 'wrong' side... So I'm learning to reverse a manual whilst riding the brakes as the brake lights are far brighter. Hopefully thats the only annoying issue on your new one though... As it looks a cracking motor otherwise!

A second reversing light on the nearside is what I'm after. The single fog light and lack of rear lights on the tailgate doesn't bother me, although I have enabled both fog lights on the previous Fabia and Octavia

Ah .. thanks. I've already sealed the boot strut balls but it sounds like the lights will be worth looking at

Now that's interesting as I was wondering whether the cables might be there so I could retrofit a cluster from a higher spec model but hadn't got round to checking...

What model do you have and what country are you in? If it's an SE without the highline lights then there will only be one on one of the tailgate light clusters, as the other one is a dummy with no LED's in it.

Rear lamp clusters on the tailgate are on my list to look at but I've already tightened them up and a good feel round them through the access points for the fixings seems to suggest they are bone dry. There's also no evidence of accident damage (all the paint matches, there's no evidence of overspray, there are no new seams, and the hatch hinges and bolts both appear to have original paint on them) and nothing to indicate such on any of the records. I had a play with the tailgate seal on Sunday to see if I could ease it further out to create a better seal and it 'seems' to have been improved things the last day or so but who knows... it might just be because we've had less rain! After that the only other thing I can think of at the moment is the number plate fixing rivnuts and whether it's getting in past one of those as where the water is collecting behind the tailgate trim does seem to roughly line up roughly with one. I'll wait for a dry day, take the plate off and seal round them just in case. After that I'm flummoxed

Well I thought I'd fixed this by tightening up the rear lights and adjusting the tailgate stops - but in the heavy rain over the last couple of days it's doing it again - I'm starting to wonder if I have a dodgy hatch seal or a rear light seal that needs a bit of attention... I may yet go back to the supplying dealer and ask them about the warranty on the car given it was Skoda Approved, and whether I can take it to another Skoda dealer to look at, bearing in mind I have no confidence in the supplying service manager's knowledge given his previous comments... Edit Just had another close look and I 'think' water is getting in at the top of the hatch opening over the seal - it seems to be where rainwater 'pools' against the seal due to the angle of our driveway and maybe the lack of pressure on the seal from the hatch at that point. I'm therefore wondering if I can get the hatch hinges re-set to tighten this or a new seal (maybe a bigger revised part?)
