  1. It wont be the 2.8 as they only came out on a 55 plate. Besides which it would have left you standing, they are quite quick. The 210hp Aero however is probably an even match as it is a heavier car than the vRS.
  2. you have comeback under the sale of goods act regardless of the warranty, the product you were sold is not fit for purpose, and you shouldnt expect all these problems (within reason) on a 2nd hand car, especially with only 21000 miles on. Talk to trading standards.
  3. Wouldnt it have just been easier to buy a 1.8T beetle and tune it??
  4. In my experience practice in advance will not hurt at all, of course in the same type of karts as you will be racing in on the day. Even better, make an advance visit to the location of the event and get to know the track! I always found with karts: work out how fast you think you can go around a corner, then double it, and you probably have the correct speed. They really do handle very well. While sliding (drifting) round the corners is ultimately great fun it will not help your lap times. IMHO there is of course a balance between having a laugh and winning! Best of luck
  5. Did you get the dogguard ok K3vin? I bought an underseat sub so that the dog wouldnt have to sit next to one in the boot. It is a DIY job to fit one of those IMHO
  6. I second Rover 75 CDTi Rover 45 very comfy on motorways too Older Accord for reliability and that discreet exec look
  7. JMHO: Personal details Objective (statement) Recent accomplishments Degree title and result (or HND/NVQ, Chartership, or whatever your highest qualification is) Most recent job Prior jobs Dont waste time listing hobbies unless it is relevant to the role, besides gives you something a bit relaxing to talk round at interview. Hobbies and education more relevant the less work experience you have.
  8. I'd go for a Bora or Octy TDI with that budget, best value for money to be had with those two IMHO. The market doesnt like Boras thus you'll get much more for your money than you would going the Golf route. Don't discount the SEAT TDI's either, again a Toledo will be cheaper than a Leon as midsized sedans don't fetch as much as the hatchbacks My mate went to look at a Golf GTI on a Y plate some time ago, at a dealership. Ended up coming home in a Toledo V5 on a 52 plate with far less mileage for the same money. He loves it (he had a Civic Type R before but claims to have 'grown up' )
  9. Last interview I went to I turned up in the VRS on 17s! It was a bit dirty too, but quite a long journey to get there. I got the job.
  10. Nope... Sold the Fabia last week and now have a 330d
  11. Well it's definately a good 'un I'd not have noticed the chips had they not been touched up with a touch-up brush... Still the guy seems to have looked after it, decent quality tyres, effort made to touch up the chips (although it really needs a bit of a visit from chipsaway rather than an untrained hand). It was nice and clean but not over done (as in tarted up for sale). Will get it HPI'd in the morning and go from there. Might sneak a quick drive in another 330d tomorrow just to compare.
  12. For 15k though it's going to be the difference between a few stone chips or an 03 car out of warranty (from what I can see looking at Autotrader) I see your point though.
  13. Liked the 330d very much... There are a few stone chips in the paint on the front, and a 'pinhead' type dent above the rear bumper in the bodywork. No doubt those little issues could be sorted out relatively cheaply. Other than that, it was mint. The interior is immaculate. As well as the PDC and leather options, it also has a 'service package' included which means free maintenance for the next 3 years/20,000 miles. Sounded nice for a diesel too, of course it doesn't have the BMW howl of the 6 cyl petrol motors, but then it will do 45 MPG unlike the 330i. Well... Should I go for it?
  14. Well, I shall be leaving to go and look at it in just over an hour, I'll post back with my thoughts later Does anyone here have access to HPI at all? Cheeky request for a favour
  15. Once the warranty is up, maybe That was the only bad thing about the Fabia. Not being able to remap due to it being brand new. I've been doing some reading up on these 330D's...I had heard reports of turbo issues but apparently turbo failure problems were fixed in late 2003.
  16. Hi folks Having had this Saab (93 2.8 turbo) for the weekend I have decided that while it is a fantastic car and I am very tempted by it, the fuel bills would kill me. I have been getting about 18 round town and 32 on the motorway. Just wondered if anyone has any experience of the 330d SE (saloon)? I am quite tempted by one myself. I'm going to have a look at an 04 later today, 39k, about a years warranty remaining on it. It's a (six speed?) manual in silver with black leather. Is there anything I should look out for on these, other than checking that it has functioning indicators?
  17. I think when you hit 30 the major step occurs pricewise For me at least postcodes seem to have a much bigger impact (at age 32) than anything else. Fabia vRS, no mods, in PR1 (dodgy) = £434 Any group 19 car at my Dads address (LL77, middle of nowhere Anglesey) = £500
  18. I'd like an E46 M3 touring (I know, they dont make one!)
  19. I'll be in the NEC area tomorrow but I am looking at houses alas This could be a nice distraction for an hour though
  20. I wondered where roland rat had gone into retirement...
  21. We won't be here for much longer, so it shouldn't be a problem. Anything worth any money I have proof of purchase of in my name.
