  1. Shifty, It was a pleasure to eat at Taylor's last year on more than one occasion, and I'd have visited more often had I not moved to the Midlands back in November. All the best for the new venture and keep us posted. Cheers John
  2. Good luck in the search but as mentioned it is probably more sensible to buy a well priced standard (cloth) Fabia, go for a 'safe' private sale with HPI check, buy a low mile non-modded car still in warranty etc then take it to seat surgeons with
  3. Only when claiming back mileage and thinking the Fabia would have done half as many MPG again as the BMW. I miss the Fabia on short trips and the practicality of the hatchback. I don't miss it on long motorway trips as the seats used to give me a bad back after a couple of hours! I think the seats in an Octy would be ok though, I sat in a Mk2 and it was very comfortable.
  4. I wouldnt imagine it is too dissimilar from the 1.9 with DSG, they are both relatively advanced diesel engines. I have SMG (same thing but the BMW version) and I think it's great. I have been thinking about an Octavia and I would have to go for the DSG box. It is a shame that they don't offer the DSG on either of the VRS models.
  5. starch, ill try and be on after 10 tonight cheers edit: it will be after the Big BRother eviction whenever that finishes and I get the TV back lol
  6. edit: Yes Welshy I play FM1 online occasionally Is it an idea to have a 'briskoda race night'? If someone sets up a custom game with very strict parameters, we should all be able to find our way to that person's game online quite easily by searching for a race with the same parameters and race oneanother?? Alternatively is there a way to set up private/invite only sessions? Anyone up for it? I'll check back here over the next few days, how about this Friday or Saturday evening (any time except when the soaps are on!)
  7. I think the RX8 is group 16 not group 18 (pedantic, sorry)
  8. Every credit to you for having the skills to take on such a large and complicated project. I struggle with ARBs and PD160 mods let alone something of this complexity. I'd doff my hat but I dont wear one
  9. Try JamJobs and matchtech (JamJob's sister company IIRC) Jam recruit for BAESYSTEMS (where I used to work near Preston) who are probably one of the bigger employers in the area. There is also CSC on Strand Rd Preston and Datel on the docks (both linked to BAE). Good luck.

  11. Go for the HR position. Far more prospects than the receptionist job (and probably more interesting!)
  12. texasjohn74 here edit: Please feel free to message me if you want to set up a game and have some good clean racing. It is a shame there are so many idiots on there driving the wrong way round tracks etc.
  13. Damn. Use the Z4 for work, not many business miles but about 4k per year :( The 330d was just below 185g though.
  14. Not as good as you'd think, around 32-33 average (lots of round town driving and spirited driving on B roads). I once saw the average drop to 29. 42 on a motorway run at 80-85. It would do about 47 at a constant 60. James - cant wait to see your next BMW, will keep an eye on the forums.
  15. Boxster, purely on the basis it is rwd.
  16. Yes it has the run flats and the ride isnt the best because of them, I am sure. Some people have changed to conventional tyres and some report 'night and day' type changes. Others say it was better, but not 'night and day'. I think I shall try and get a ride in a Z4 with conventional tyres before I shell out on 4 new tyres. I am told you have to change all four at once, and with these cars it will be the rears that are due before the front pair. I did try an S2000, in fact I owned one for a year between 2005 and 2006. The S felt gutless after the 330d and the Z4 is slightly more practical in a number of ways. Even the 3.0i is down on torque compared to the 330d and you feel it, although the weight advantage of the Z4 balances this out. Welshy the 330d I had was the 204hp. You can tell easily if it is a manual as the 204 version has 6 gears not 5. I had no problems with mine at all (although it was still in warranty with 47k on it when I sold it) over 6 months and it was a great motorway car. Very good for drifting too ETA: one final thing, I very nearly got a 02 Z3 M Roadster with the later 325hp M3 engine; I found a minter at a BMW dealership with 14k on. Alas, it had a deposit put down on it the first day it went on sale and was sold pending collection to someone who'd put
  17. She's gorgeous. Nice one Loz. I didn't expect you to get a vRS quite so soon after the Sport, but at least you arent as bad as Tom or I for swapping cars!
  18. Badum tish! No, I have had plenty of time in the 330d to forget how to use indicators! It was more than a new Octy vRS, let's put it that way (not much more, but a bit more ) Insurance isn't too bad at all, either. A little bit more than the Fabia vRS was costing me, although I am in a 'better' postcode now (now B93, was in PR1). I will try and hang on to this car and keep it mint, I will be looking to get a Fabia Mk2 1.4TDi for pottering about in when winter comes, and use the Fabia for travelling to work and back.
  19. Hi Graham I've not been around for a while but I am sorry come back and log on to hear you have been unwell. Wishing you all the best for a speedy recovery and I look forward to seeing your virtual bar reopen one evening soon! Cheers John
  20. Another BMW! Picked it up a couple of weeks ago, excuse the autotrader pics as I've not taken my own yet. Options: -SMG 'flappy paddle' gearbox (similar to DSG) -Xenons -Hi-fi speaker system (adds 4 woofers, 2 mids behind the seats and amplifier) - CD Changer -18" '107' style epsilloid alloy wheels -Wind deflector -Storage package (cupholders and a bit of netting to store things in, basically!) -Heated seats The standard kit (which the 3.0 comes with): Leather electric memory seats Electric roof Auto lights/wipers Sport button (weights up the steering and improves throttle response) Climate control 10,000 miles in 3.5 years. Evidently the previous owner's weekend toy!
  21. Yes, the chances are they wont notice what type of stereo is fitted. They will however notice a hole in the dash if you leave nothing in there at all. I'd also whip the tax disc out and get any refund from the post office. They gave you a value for the car, the road fund licence is a tax. If you dont take the tax disc and cash it in, you can be sure that they will. Think about it, have you ever bought a car from a dealer and not had to pay for 6 or 12 months???
  22. Drive through car wash = very bad for paint! Jet wash (lance) = some say bad due to the water pressure, but much better than big plastic bristles. Hand wash using two bucket method = ideal.
  23. Correct So, phil, does this A1200 have a HDD installed too?
