  1. The Seat/VW cupholder (pictured above) is more robust than the skoda pop-out cup holder. Dont even get me started on Z4 cupholders. Rubbish! There are a few accessories that fit between the different VAG brands. I think people put VW PHateon parts in Superbs (some interior light kit I think)
  2. If it's Skoda 'approved used' then you'd expect 12months warranty
  3. Just a feeler, but very interested and it's more the timing that might be an issue than the
  4. Damn! Beaten to it. An excellent result though, congratulations! As for people not being 'clever' enough to go to uni, what a load of twaddle. You've seen those twins on big brother, right?
  5. I fear you have been playing too much Civ.
  6. The Bora is a fantastic used car buy in this country. I take it you want to stay with VAG? Well, if considering a saloon the Bora is much better value than the equivalent Golf or Passat 2nd hand. The Saab 93 and 95 you will find surprising cheap also. As Tom said, Superbs are worth a look, but the Bora will be the better (sportier) drive. What about a non-VRS? 2003 VOLKSWAGEN BORA 1.9 TDI 150 Sport 4dr Diesel Saloon Price:
  7. Sebastian Ponsonby-Wickerbasket &surname ? Maybe not then? Jake is a nice name. I am not sure that I would go with celebrity names, i.e. Jordan, River, etc.
  8. Hmm. I don't suppose he/she gave any more than that away though? If I had to have a stab at the profile I think I could guess roughly what they are looking for car wise. I suppose other mods fitted to the car will always arouse suspicion, beit aftermarket alloys or ARBs etc, although they might not consider cars with ICE-only mods to be as likely to be chipped as one with performance mods. Then there is the owner as well...I suppose you give a lot away by how you talk about the accident, the car etc without them even having to ask direct questions about your level of interest in performance and cars in general; if you are talking about the 'shiny metal round bits' it is likely the only mods you made were the RSPB sticker. OTOH, having a good understanding of cars, engines, physics, traction etc making you more likely to have enhanced the car...knowledge exactly like a lot of us on motoring forums will have, regardless of whether we have chipped or not... They're after US! Tinfoil hats for sale here: www.paranoiahats.com
  9. Yep, I'd have tended to think a remapped ECU was impossible to spot (maybe obvious if you drive the car though) up until recently, but I have seen too many posts on here and other sites about people being 'caught' with remaps. On bikes it usually has the cc stamped at the bottom of the block (visible externally from the side of the bike) but I am not sure that this is the case with car engine blocks.
  10. im definately up for it and i have a couple of mates in preston (Supra turbo and 206GTi with TBs) who might be, if you need more numbers and want the invitation extended edit: I could also mention it on zroadster.net. Nice bunch of people (ive met them) and probably one or two might come (one of the mods with a supercharged z3 lives in yorks)
  11. Sounds like you had a 'Punto Quattroporte' moment there then mate. (new Punto looks like the Maserati also)
  12. It were all whities much like myself, at the Brisky meet I went to. We have an Asian chap who comes along to the local PH meets though, woot! I fit the thirtysomething bill, although you'd not think I was that old to look at. People guess I am in my late 20s usually.
  13. I was going to suggest Allard in Gloucester, surprised Jason didnt TBH. As for declaring or not, I would advise you to although in my younger days I had a 998cc Mini according to the logbook. Driving it around though (stock brakes as well lol) you were always very concious that if you were to have an accident the **** would hit the fan big time. So, most of the time you couldn't enjoy it 100%. Since then I've always declared but I've only had one chipped car.
  14. I'd predict that will involve rather a lot of slowing down and waiting to create a gap unless you have a GSXR250 (they do exist, trust me ) How far is Sxunthorpe from Birmingham? I might be up for this.
  15. On the subject of the Mini, the Mini Cooper S is probably one of the best company cars from an income tax perspective if you want a hot hatch. Mini would cost me
  16. When I read Carjacked Mikes posts I always get a mental image of that bloke from 'The Fast Show' (which is a mid-late 90s comedy sketch show for the youngsters)... You aint seen me, right? Mike dont take offence it is meant as a compliment but it is partly the username and partly the brevity of the posts! You are right about the new Fabia, its all a bit skinny and tall.
  17. Unless you have a massively powerful car or intend to drive at the limit, you really dont have to worry about RWD - in the dry. In the wet it is a different matter. Once you get used to the car you will develop a feel for when the back end is getting short of traction, especially on wet roundabouts where throttle is neutral and the desire to slide is caused more by the rate of the turn than due to power application. It is a strange feeling if you aren't used to it, and difficult to describe, but you'll get to learn it. ETA: If you can imagine being on the brink of 'shear slip' in your minds eye, that is what it feels like, as opposed to a 'kick n slide' feeling that you get (and sometimes pulls one of those lower back muscles if you are unfit like me or Jeremy Clarkson) when inducing power oversteer. It's all good fun at least. I think I was reading either on here or on PH someone saying that BMWs rarely get seen being played with in this manner, all driven by reps who probably dont realise it is RWD etc... Then someone else posted up to say: no, actually, I saw a Z4 go sideways 3/4 way round a roundabout. Every credit, it takes a lot of balls (or skill) to do it in 20k's worth of car. WHen I say I have fun getting the back end out I mean just the odd low speed blip on the gas. Perhaps I should try one of these skid courses to leanr properly.
  18. Cheers for the heads up on the demo, this along with Alan Wake is one of the games I've been looking forward to. Since Forza came out, at least
  19. Gutted about the car, but glad to hear that you are ok. I imagine it was a very shocking experience. At least you have the choosing of a new car to look forward to.
  20. Colleague at work went for the 2.0TDi 140 SE Sportback. He tried the S line but found the ride very harsh so selected the SE and chose some options (leather sports seats being one). The interior is lovely, it really is. The car rides very well but is not really much quieter than the VW Golfs we have with the same engine. The problem with VAG though is because they share platforms and engines it draws away from the 'exclusivity' of the premium Audi brand, i.e. you can get that TDi140 in all the Octavias, let alone the Jettas and Golfs.
  21. Tom I think you should find another 4k and go for the Mazda 3 MPS at Perrys of Preston for
  22. Sorry guys I didnt get on the box last night. Long week at work and I jsut crashed out asleep!
  23. I'm interested in it too, if it is available at the right time for me. Cheers
  24. Nice mod, Tom. Looks good, and I should imagine it feels much better than the old wheel
  25. Good luck with settling in and that!
