AVG Antivirus users. Free v7.5 ends the 31st May - Remember to update to v8

Featured Replies

AVG v7.5 ends the 31st May, so remember to update prior to this.

Its not an update through the software, you need to download the verion 8 install.

Ive just done it myself. Its still a free version but offers alot more.

AVG Antivirus Version 8 update available from here:

Download AVG Free Edition 8.0.100 - FileHippo.com

Good reminder. Done:thumbup:

Avast is better, and based in the land of Skodas :)

I prefer to pay a small amount for Kaspersky these days.

Doh :D

Cheers, done:thumbup::thumbup:

Can you load it on top off an earlier version or do you Uninstall 7 and then Install 8........??.Ta!!

I think the AVG 8 installer does all the work and removes 7 as part of the installation.

cheers for that.............I'll give it ago

I got free McAfee with my computer which is now about to expire - do I pay for that again or scrap it and get one of these free ones? (which I'm tempted to do!) if so, which is better? I've heard reasonably good things about both AVG and avast

Yes scrap McAfee. Avast and AVG are much of a muchness to be honest, some people prefer one and others prefer the other. Probably best to install both (at separate times) and see which you prefer. Also theres plenty of oither free antivirus about, just AVG and Avast are the popular two.

Personally I use AVG, but I'm not found of the new interface, so may be looking to go elsewhere - we'll see...

I much prefer Avast.

I've updated my laptop, haven't done my desktop yet. I might have a look at Avast as a lot of people have rated it.

Thanks

I'll update the laptop and pc now then!

Ta - 5 PC's to do now...

It's just under 29 Mbs so depends on your download speed. Also, I seem to recall it ground to a halt in the middle when a pop-up reminder appeared asking whether you wanted to delete version 7. As stated in another post, it will do this automatically once you authorise it.

HTH

Just done it -took about 20 mins in total:thumbup:

just downloaded it now , its got AVG spyware included

i thought this was avast? didnt realise it wasnt doh!!
