Chipping '57 plate Octavia Vrs

What is the best all round level of chipping (power, economy & price) ?

I have heard of 300BHP being available, but how does all this affect warranty etc?

First off, any detectable (and they all are using VAGCom torque measurement) remap will void an SUK engine and gearbox warranty.

Secondly, 300bhp from a 1.8T is possible, but not with just a remap. To get that power you'd be looking an an FMIC, free-flow exhaust, sports cat, hybrid turbo,, and a full custom remap.

The remap by itself would take you to about 220bhp.

Looks like its a 2.0l Vrs Ken.

you cant get 300bhp with just a remap on the MK2 as Makefish as he's spent alot getting there :D

300hp would require a KO4 or other larger turbo conversion.

Approx 225-235hp and approx 290-300lbft is what you can expect to see from a remap alone - regardless of what the sellers tell you.

We offer 2 stages of map for the 2.0 TFSI VRS

1) P-Torque software only - 240 - 245bhp

2) P-Torque custom software with turbo back exhaust system - 260 - 270bhp

Stage 1 is £295.00 all in for members, with the option of before and after Dyno runs for £45

300hp would require a KO3 or other larger turbo conversion.

I think you mean KO4 ;) :P

I wouldn't want to discredit your company but frankly those claims are not realistic based on personal experience and many hours of testing.

The maximum you can expect from a remap only is between 230-235bhp, a few more if you change the panel filter to a K&N or something similar.

To achieve the bigger numbers ie. 250bhp+ you will need more than just an exhaust and stage 2 software! Budget on an intake, uprated fuel pump, intercooler and other minor upgrades. For figures 300bhp+ then a turbo conversion is the only option.

A search in the Octavia II forum will give further insight into what can be done but don't be fooled by inflated claims from pretty much ALL the software companies. If you look carefully in my signature you'll see the upgrades I have and that gives a reliable 280bhp & 310ft/lbs, no more..........no less! ;)

Best bet is go for a stage 1 and see how you feel with it.

Thats all I had the first time round, and I'm just getting settled in the second time round, seems suitably fast for me...

Always one

We have a Dyno here, and, as mentioned will run any P-Torque tuned car before and after.

You can't base your facts on your own car. We base ours on 40+ 2.0 TFSI's running our stage 1 software.

Steve, just out of interest which turbo does the mk2 run as standard ???

Always one

Run a site search on my user name and dyno, for a general and independant view on comparing different dynos. All saying "we get 10bhp more than anyone else does" is likely to do is convince people that you have optomistic rollers.

Let me guess.............running a standard car on your rollers before a remap gives a surprising 10-15 bhp more than what the manufacturer claim?;)

KO3 is the standard fitment but it's not the limiting factor for increasing the power on the TFSi (although it's getting very close to it's limits!!) the injectors are totally maxed out running anything over 280bhp and therefore cannot meet any increased request from any remap at this level. New injectors from KO4 powered cars such as the new Leon Cupra R could overcome this but no one has tried it as far as I know on a KO3 car!

Yep, correct as ever :P.

Remaps and rollers are always a very emotive subject.

Will - What I would really be interested in is to see the torque figures for that software.

it would be interesting to see some of these before and after graphs

Last RR meet i went on a Leon Tdi FR made 184bhp with a p-torque map, should have made 185bhp according to p-torque estimates.

Whats going on Will....hmmm :rofl::rofl:;)

I would however like to see a Mk1 octy vrs make the quoted 220bhp.

With due respect Makefish i have seen a 2.0TFSI with a standard revo map give 250bhp on a RR that is good and accurate. It was a golf GTi but same engine.

Sorry bud, but I very much doubt that on the evidence we've seen over the past couple of years! What did it make pre remap?

I'm not sure, but others spot on nearly 200bhp. I also fail to see how a car with a remapp can make say 230 and then add 50bhp with an exhaust and intake. IMO exhausts and intake don't do that much and that's a few years of experience of tuning cars. Real proof is of timing the 60mph to 100 mph, in how many seconds does it do it? That's the real proof. Makeshift what does you car do 60-100mph? Somehow i doubt i'll get an answer or vid evidence.

Intake adds around 15bhp, Exhaust negligble (say 2-3bhp), Fuel Pump 20 bhp, Intercooler & Hi Flow Pipework 10bhp

We do agree on some things then as the exhaust did not appear to add much but the intake made quite a difference! ;):D

 Hard to prove on public roads, but is
good enough for you? (taken with a phone unfortunately so apologise for poor quality) but should give you some idea!! ;)

With a bit of luck the 30-130mph day will take off and there will be even better evidence for you as I'll hopefully be there :P

Any more questions you wanna ask? ;)

Exhausts and intakes don't make much in themselves any more (they used to be able to offer about 15% on atmos, back in the 1970s, but those had much more restrictive yet no quieter parts as standard). What they do do is offer a remap the chance of making more, provided the turbo and injectors can cope with the additional requirements.

Thanks for the reply and vid. Don't get me wrong but with my last car i spent far too much money than i should have which i didn't need to in the first place and because of forums.

It is easy to get wrapped up in the hype, the bottom line is you have to do your own research.

I think the most i'm going to go on this car is a cat back and intake and hoping i don't need a pump;) but if i do i will get one but that's it
