Amd stage3?

Featured Replies

Jeez that picture gets around a bit.

Exchange Hybrid turbo, ECU remap and Milltek Full Stainless Steel Exhaust, allows better engine breathing and better acceleration allow 3-5 days

Ah right so i did read right- New turbo, remap and exhaust

not a bad price i suppose then

Includes fitting too.

  • Author

ahh coolio- even better.

Would it be worth adding the forge fmic to this and the pd160 mod?

might be but you are talking about some big dollar before you've already got the car. How old are you and can you afford to insure a car with such mods.

only 70bhp!!! i would have thought you would be looking at 210-215bhp at least!!

i could get you all that fitted plus performance clutch for 2k and fmic for 2.3k

fitted and everything,

Yeah, i ve checked with my old insureance comapny- they said its fine (FYI its vauxhall isurance shockingly)

I have no ncb, but i will be 24/25 when i get the car. and intended to by the car outright and then save and pay out right for the mods.

I am aiming for around 250bhp hence the fmic/gearbox mods.

Am working on a total budget (car+mods) of around 10-11k maybe 12 if i have to

Am doing as much of my home work now, so i have a clear mod plan ready for the car once its sat on the drive.

Fail to prepare- Preoare to fail as they say.

So I'm getting as much info from all the tech bod from here and soaking all the desial (sp) tuning knowladge here

That probably isnt far off that anyhow. Most PD130 start out with 140 so thats 210.

More than you would want to do ont he standard clutch and flywheel.

And yes Stu thats my old car after the Milltek was made for it ;)

lummox- Cupra r wheel on it?

Don't forget the new clutch/flwheel, upgraded brakes, new diff, new suspension, add another 3.5k :)

Yup 17"

Already budgeted a 1k for the gearbox work- shot and peened and a quife atb diff

and the budget for chassis/brake work is around 1500/2000 which i have saved up already.

so this is purly for the go-go-go stuff

Already done some reaserch from shockingly fast ford for uprating gearbox for diesals(again sp) got a quote from the company in there for it all.

cheers for remainding me though.

so total budget goes to 15k. But would be worth i feel.

And before any one asks what made me decide this route see devontopia- saw his videos and the rr run and wanted it with the fuel econmey:thumbup:

Full Budget Progections are

Car- 6000-7500

Engine work- 3-3.5

Chassis/Brakes- 2k

Transmission-1-1.5k

Total roughly- best case= 12k

Worst CASE- 14.5

And yes Stu thats my old car after the Milltek was made for it ;)

I think it should now be known as Xav's new car

So you have added in uprated injectors and nitrous as well :) Think Dave mentioned 15 mpg out of his

and the only clutch capable of handling that sort of power is the spec stage 3+ and billet ally flywheel, please have a ride in one which has this mod(ie mine or jasons)as there is probably a really good, noisey, really bad in traffic, and vibrations that will knock your teeth out, reason we are the only idiots with this setup, there are quite a few on here who have ridden in and seen one or both cars,if you are going to the extremes of power then do beware there is a real compromise on comfort, noise and vibration levels, and they are also a real pain in traffic:thumbup:

Thanks for the info there oliburinnut

I'll bear it mind.

I'm going to look at getting all the work done in one hit- not going to take my time with it, just save for the car- buy it- the save for the mods- take the car to somewere (amd/awesome whereever) get the work done a few weeks/a month and then its sorted

Everyone think this the way forward?

Whta is everyones recomendations for a quick/resonable state of tune for the fvrs?

I mean personally from my ltd knowladge so far i would of thought the amd kit + fmic + uprated clutch+ Bigger brakes + Koni adjustables/ FK Coilovers+ rr remap/live map+ uprated poly bushes+ gear box work?

Just so you all know as well, i wouldnt be driving to work very often either (most likly get the train)

So having the car off the road for a day/week is not a big deal for me

This almost going to be a weekend toy. but it is sometimes going to be used to get into the office.

And have i read on here that some one has the brembo brake set up from a cupra r?

P.S- Can i just say thank you to everyone for the really helpfull advise on this- Some owners clubs ive been on have been very unwilling to offer help like this and have basically posted random, well bull****, pardon the language, which in turn has made me not want to buy the car. Really liking this place:thumbup:

Personally I wouldnt bother with the AMd stage 3.

Heres how i would attack this modding, well in fact I have done most of the following myself.

Clutch, sach have just released a SMF-organic clutch setup rated to 400lbft, ie more than enough but still nice to use daily.

Coilovers, KW V1, wouldnt touch any others.

Brakes- the audi 312mm brakes are more than enough, plus you can keep the orginal 16 inch wheels

Exhaust, just loose the cat.

stage 2 turbo dynamics turbo

forge fmic

panel filter and pd160 pipe

then a remap, that will see you about 230bhp and 370lbft. ie more than enough.

Then you can move onto things like diffs and big injectors. but then it gets stupid in costs.

Buy a second hand Clio 197 and save the rest... MPG is shot after all that work and it wont be a huge amount faster nor feel like as good a performance car.

My 2p

Believe me, mine is a lot faster and i mean alot faster than a 197. Even around corners where mine wallows abit. I still have more than enough grunt to gain loads out of the twistys.

My mpg isnt that bad when you drive it steady, i drive mine with a lead foot and still get 28mpg, id like to see you get that in a performance petrol being driven flat out everywhere.

My 2p in response :P

som really useful info there skud. I have done a few of these mods to my car already sach's clutch, miltek turbo back and i'm now looking to go down the hybrid turbo and fmic route to get a bit more oomph out of my car.

  • Author

Thanks for that infomation Skud

If you don't mind could you pm cost wise/ add me on MSN so i could get more infomation about this?

so your willing to spend 14.5k on a weekend toy fabia?

not knocking the fabia here(despite what everyone will think) but for a weekend toy there are far better things out there for that money, a quick fabia makes a decent daily driver as well as a fun weekend car.

but when you don't use it for work why bother? RS4's start at about 14.5k for starters, or S3's start at about 5k then add another 5k for a big turbo conversion and you'll have 350bhp+ and the tratcion to use it not to mention thousands left over.

  • Author

Benjie, it sounds alot, however the main reason for me wanting to do this is cause i want something different.

And i will be useing on the very odd ocasion to get to work. This mainly a exersize to see what can be done.

I also have a hankering for it
