Passenger door lock!

Featured Replies

Finding things wrong for M.O.T.

M.O.T. is due and finding things like off-side rear wheel bearings (which i`ve sorted) and squeeking brake cables (not as yet!) brakes work well. Is it possible to fail because of squeek?

Passenger door lock does not work, hasn`t for a month or so, still locks when pushed down manualy as in central locking. Can it fail M.O.T with it not working by a key?

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks.

Shouldnt fail. Drivers door is the only one which needs to open IIRC, others could be welded shut and it could pass.

Mine passed with driver's door lock not working with a key, and with central locking and door push only so don't worry about it. Tried to change the keying in the lock to swap the lock over but I couldn't get the circlip off the end of the lock, circlip pliers are too big to fit in so looks like a locksmith job.

Shouldn't fail because of squeak either. Would fail on a visible material defect or weak efficiency or lack of balancing.

As long as the door opens with both inner and outer handles it will pass the mot, it does not matter if the locks work or not

Ah! Good news...

Thats good news that it will pass with the faults. M.O.T. booked for Thursday morning.

Cheers Circlip
