Some info on a Czech forum says the facelift Octavia will have a new front bumper, lights and grille, new design alloys and a couple of new colours.

On the inside it should have new steering wheels, new climate control (probably like the Superb), new stereos and interior fabrics.

Probably that is pretty much correct. In these days of cost reduction and throughput time optimizations, it's pretty normal that parts are being cross-used between different models.

My local dealer had some info on this facelift (not sure how accurate as he didn't mention the source), and he said among other things that the headlights will be the same as in new Superb. So that means Octavia gets Bi-xenons at last :)

And so they bl**dy-well should ! I wonder how expensive it will be to fit the new lights (and bumper) to the older model Octy ?

I'm finding the current hi beam is pathetic compared with the xenon lo beam (I've got some brighter H1 globes to try out, but aren't expecting miracles).

why does the steering wheel look like its smiling at you?????

What about the interior though? Do you think we'll get any real changes there or just the visual tweaks on the outside? Just browsing the new Superb brochure some things like hill-hold, bluetooth, stereos (not columbus) with SD slot etc.. Would love to see some of these on the new octavia, but I guess they wont so as not to overshadow the Superb in its first year?

My Octy L&K has this and it is GREAT once you get used to it, I hope I never drive a car without it again

What on earth is hill hold?

looks like a Fabia !!

Hill hold stops you rolling back on a hill after you have stopped (IIRC it maintains pressure on the main brakes until you start to move forward or release the clutch or somesuch). Sort of like an auto-releasing handbrake.

any news guys? Any photos of the facelift? It is supposed to be presented in Paris in 1 week and still no photos...Such a secret?

Is an electronic parking brake too much to shoot for?

Why would you want one?

To be honest, if they do spec an electronic brake, I would be seriously put off buying a facelifted Octy!

But I am genuinely interested as to why anyone would want one...

Out of pure convenience. With using it 10-14 times a day I'd rather press a button or pull a tab than reach under the armrest for the lever. Also the fact that it self disengages when you take off makes for a faster start from traffic lights, especially with the DSG.

Things naturally progressed to servo. Steering, braking, windows, mirrors, even the headlight adjustment, so why not the parking brake?

A bit of a step too far for me, but then again, I'm sure people said that to some of the modern advancements that we take for granted now....

and a 7 speed DSG gearbox too, is that the dry clutch version?

Yup. Lower maintenance cost, but limited engine upgrade potential.

I LOVE it. Just took a look and think it's great. YAY.

sorry, that was for the petrol engines only

Advanced technology

The technology featured in the new Octavia is amongst the most advanced found in modern cars. The new Octavia is available with five petrol and three diesel engines, and a range of manual and automatic gearboxes.

This includes a revolutionary DSG 7° automatic transmission system, specially developed for the 1.4 TSI/90kW (122 bhp) and 1.8 TSI/118 kW (160 bhp) engines.

The new Octavia’s engine displacements and outputs cover a wide range, meeting the needs of every customer. Petrol engines range from the 1.4 MPI/59 kW (80 bhp) to the top class 2.0 TFSI with an output of 147 kW (200 bhp). The Octavia’s diesel offering includes the choice of two turbo engines with an output of 77 (105 bhp) or 103 kW (140 bhp), or a common rail fuel injected two-litre turbo-diesel with an output of 125 kW (170 bhp).

I guess sometime next year I'll have a white 1.8 TSI DSG with sunroof and some sort of gray interior. Hold the wood trim, please.

urgh! hadnt noticed the minging wood trim. trying to be inspector morse or an old rover or something??

i'll have one in that battleship grey!

now wonder what it would look like with a de-chromed grille? :D

Looks ok (apart from the wood!) still rather have a new Superb though.

I want that cool green colour, it's a failed Audi A8 colour that I really love! YAY.
