Chances against an s2000

Featured Replies

Hi chaps.

I'm currently looking at a VRS, I'm possibly going to chip it but what chances would i have against a modified Honda s2000 (IIRC it has a different final drive and is around 252 ~ BHP).

A guy at work has one and he is a right cocky git well "sometimes". I have not really seen it in action but there only a 2.0 N/A.

And BTW before people mention i dont participate or condone street racing etc.

Cheers

I'd say round about bugger all , especially if there are any corners involved

Look up/work out each car's power-to-weight figure...

Steve

NO CHANCE.

Get yourself a motorbike.

My mate had an S2000 at the same time I had my vRS and his car was quicker/faster, as proven on numerous occasions at and en route to the 'Ring'.

I'd agree with the bugger all statement. Which is more the pity if he's a gobby chappy.

Having said that, given the funds and choice and space not being an option (A lot I know!) I would rather have an S2000 over the Vrs.

Thanks chaps.

Ah well nevermind, i was looking at getting the remap.

Are you serious?

And I thought some members were crazy when they thought their Fabia vRS could take a CTR.

I'm talking about the petrol version chipped.

0 chance, the S2000 is in the boxster area of performance

Keep dreaming - :D

I'm sorry but I think you are looking at the vRS for the wrong reasons. If you want to buy a nice quick hot hatch that does good MPG -That you could potentially Modify in-order to get more power like Shifty or Devontopia then go for it. (Before you do this I would suggest a PM asking how much they have spent ;) or a better idea - Just buy Shiftys Car!)

If your looking to beat everything under the sun with a standard vRS - No. Sorry.

Well you lot are feeling a bit miserable today arnt you!

Personally I think your being a little harsh to the Octy vRS.

My mate has an S2000 and we both went to the Nurburgring, with me in my vRS. In the dry, and in a straight line he was quicker, but not massively like you lot are implying. As soon as the heavens opened and the surface got nice and slippery, the S2000 dropped back, and unfortunately eventually spun off trying to keep up and crashed. It is an early one, before they revised the suspension, but the thing is terrible in the wet.

Yeah it may have 56bhp more, and be 1.6secs quicker to 60mph, but....

We have 27Nm more (and a much better torque curve), 7mpg more, 4 insurance groups lower, pretty much the same top speed, room for 5 and a massive boot!

S2000's are lovely cars, but I'm supporting the plucky underdog! It's not what you drive, it's how you drive it.

P.S. Secretly tune the nuts off your octy, then blast past him one day with a pipe in your mouth laughing. He will cry.

maybe if you do abit of after purchase shopping at jbs of jabba for a garrett or a ihi :orb_cool: we could falways feed his s2000 to del or stevie wonder lol :orb_hypno cos as much as im not a jap fan, i have a lil weakspot for the s2000 . and dont they just rev forever with that vtec engine? and weigh as much as the octys engine or sumin lol :orb_no_no

ihi :orb_not_w lol

wish i had a big ol jabba gift voucher lol

As opposed to what other Vrs version's ..................because there aren't any other.:)

..............and I think you are comparing the wrong cars, this is in the Octavia I section!! ;)

Hi All

i think its a bit harsh to compare as they are totally different cars, i woudl have a s2000 over my vrs if i could afford it, didnt have a wife and dog, never had passengers, never went camping and filled my boot etc etc

he may be slightly quicker but then its a 2 door coupe/cabriolet sports car, vrs is a fast sensible family hatch

Spot on!!

Think he was refering to the fabs vrs (devils fuel)

Ah - This makes a little more sense now. Long day! ;)

In which case - I would suggest that you do stand a better chance. Just remember the different power to weight ratio between the two and the S2000 still has that good old VTEC.

I myself would get the Octy and do some small mods to it. Do remember also that it's in a lower insurance group and tbh a better daily drive as it can take 5 people.

There are many quick Octys on here. Once again I would suggest if you decide to modify it to talk to them about what they have had done and how much it cost.

I would suggest that you PM (In No order!) - Harry Vrs, Makefish, Stu, Leeboy and Declac! I'm sure they will be willing to help.

In the octavia section ????

You haven't specified in what area you wish to 'beat' your friend. May I suggest you challange him in a race to Scotland.

yeah some above is much more 'top gear challenge' style. not just out and out speed, if you want that buy a kit car or track car!

....it's not a good day mate as the first three you mentioned have MkII Octy's which are significantly different to the MkI ;)

Leeboy and Delcac have extensive knowledge of modifying the MkI Octy vRS but Bengie and Lummox know a thing or two also :)
